What? It's not Ubi... it's actually Eidos/Squeenix. Same as Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I believe they're even developed by the same team (Montreal based, even, so I'm close by ) Also, Deux Ex is a prequel, but I don't think it's a reboot. No idea about Thief, though. But if it was a reboot, I don't think they'd call it Thief 4 Either way, those two series are also among my all-time favorites. Pretty excited to see them both return.

I liked how it looked at the time of purchase... I still don't think it's too badbad except for the side window... that shit gets filthy with dust after a while. Also, that side fan lights up with blue LEDs, so when I leave it on overnight for torrents and such.... it's seriously annoying. I actually have to drag my printer out of its nook so that it blocks the light from being in my face when I go to sleep. I definitely learned my lesson. Next time: no fancy lights and no see-through parts. I've actually considered getting a new case and transfering everything a few times, but I don't really have the cash to waste on that.

That's not saying much, though HR seems (so far) to be much more in line with what made the original great. Hell, I replayed the first one last summer and it was still better than a lot of modern games.

So a bunch of sites posted Deus Ex: Human Revolution hands-on impressions today. At first I was thinking I'd avoid them. Trying to find out as little as possible about the game. But I finally caved in and read IGN's earlier tonight. Then I started reading Kotaku's just now and holy shit... The guy who played and wrote the article for IGN was clearly a Deus Ex fan. He referenced the first two games, mentioned expectations and doubts he had towards Human Revolution and generally gave me a positive outlook on the game because he seemed like he knew what Deus Ex was about and he only had good things to say about HR. McWhertor's article, on the other hand, makes it clear he probably never played the previous games. Not only that but his account of what he did in-game (like blinding himself with his own flashbang...)makes it seem like he never played an action game before. As far as I could bear to read, he never talks about experimenting with and exploring the game's varied ways to tackle any given objective (which is the whole point of Deus Ex). At least the IGN guy explored some, actually found an air vent and managed to get through without firing a single shot. As a big DX fan and someone who's really looking forward to HR, I just couldn't finish reading the Kotaku article. It just seemed to have missed the point of the game entirely. I've often read people's complaints here or elsewhere about Kotaku assigning games to the wrong people. But it's the first time I've seen it occur in such an obvious way. I'm embarassed for them...

Yeah, definitely. I have them all but for some reason such an important PS2 series runs like complete and utter shit on my BC PS3. It literally runs in slow mo. It's just maddening.

I have to say, as a Elder Scrolls fan, I was already looking forward to Skyrim. But that trailer was just awesome. When the main theme started playing I just about lost my shit. Can't. Freaking. Wait. I feel like I should make it a point to finally finish at least Morrowind or Oblivion before it comes out, but I'm really not sure which one...

My first was either bulbasaur, squirtle or charmander But now that I've made my bad joke, I think I recall picking charmander first. Was on my very first game, before I even owned a gameboy. A friend had loaned me his. I remember because he had also loaned me a gameshark and I had given the charmander a ton of rare candy to make him level 100 while I only had like 2 badges. Frankly I don't know why anyone ever expected it to be drastically different from the first one. It's a sequel and one that is coming pretty quickly considering how much content these games have so it's not like they could've written a whole new engine or anything. The only thing that still bugs me slightly is the change in art style. When Flemeth showed up in the demo, I had difficulties believing it was the same woman I met in DAO. But that really has no bearing on whether it'll be a good game or not. I also miss the tactical overhead camera, but I hardly ever used it, so in my opinion it's no great loss. I'm willing to lose that if it means prettier indoor environments. Why would you use a gamepad on the PC version, though? For a game like this, wouldn't a keyboard and mouse feel infinitely more natural? I mean, in my opinion this is a game better enjoyed on the PC so I get why you would go for that version, but if you'd rather use a gamepad than a keyboard, then you probably should stick with the console version. At least that way the interface will have been designed around the gamepad.

Well, I might have remembered the details wrong, but I don't think so Oh and as for decisions, I see how it's great and all, but they also give me kind of a headache. When I was playing Dragon Age: Origins and the time came to pick a side as to which Dwarf should become king... I kept doing quests waiting for the game to tell me which one was the good one, and that just never happened, so I didn't know which one to side with They both seemed like assholes in their own way.

And what's that "other courier" thing? I thought I was taking my time and exploring the game slowly, but then I saw some comments on Kotaku referring to someone called "The Burned Man" or something like that and it was the first I ever heard about that guy, so it became obvious that I had missed at least some of what the game has to offer. But according to your sig you've already sunk like 70 hours in it, so you can't possibly have much left to do.

Same here, only I'd rather not wait so long to get back into it. Would be great to finish the game while the first 20 hours are still fresh in memory. I'm hoping that playing Dead Money will make me want to keep on playing. For some reason, the part of the main story where I stopped just seemed more like work than fun...

Yeah, Ogre gave me a hard time but it was easy once I started killing the small ones first.

So I searched and could not find a thread for this, which seems odd as I think I remember some people discussing it, but whatever. So, the Dead Money DLC just came out for PC ( and I imagine will for PS3 later on today). I haven't finished the main story yet (haven't played since the holidays, actually) but I've been meaning to get back into it and this DLC could be the reason to do so. Since I'm pretty sure at least some people here must have played it on 360 by now, I was wondering about something. I know it raises the level cap to 35, but do I need to be that high level to play it, or would I do fine on my current level (think I was around 20)?

Yeah, that kinda pissed me off when I realized that as well. Nothing in the game ever really hints at there being one. Once I finished it, I just watched the other on youtube.

I'm not in a hurry to collect all the trophies. I started my NG+ on normal figuring I'd upgrade more guns before doing my Zealot run. Haven't touched it in over a week, though. I played for two hours when I started the NG+ (stopped right after meeting up with Daina) but then I got RDR, so I've been playing that instead. Oh and as for I'm pretty sure there aren't any. I remember reading somewhere that the Xbox 360 version has ONE checkpoint, and that checkpoint is only there because of the disc swap. So yeah, I'm not entirely sure I'll be going for the platinum I'll probably attempt Hardcore when I'm bored and have nothing better to play (i.e. during the summer), but I don't have high hopes of success.
