Damnit! I just read the comics, Assassin's Creed: The Fall, and I don't care if Ubisoft are milking the franchise! That little bit of story made me hunger for more AC! Now I can't wait for Revelations

Oh, and since the batman thread isn't getting much action and I don't want to double post, I'll just say this here. I finished reading The Dark Knight Returns a few days ago. And frankly, I feel the same way about it did as I did with Year One. They're both quite good, but I really don't understand why they're regarded as "the best batman stories ever told". I thought stuff like The Killing Joke, The Man Who Laughs and The Long Halloween were much, much better.

I have no doubt about that. Though at the moment I'm unemployed and fairly broke. But some of the Batman stories I've read were amazing, and I am definitely planning on buying them whenever I'll be able to afford them. The only thing I hate is after looking around a bit, it seems like hardcovers can be pretty difficult to find unless the book's just come out. Which seems weird. As a kid, when I used to be really into graphic novels (though not the same kind), they were all hardcovers. Softcover TPBs just feel kinda cheap to me :/

Well I got lucky in that I found a large torrent pack that included only the most important arcs, and it was already organized by arcs and chronology. So it was as simple as working my way through the pack and sometimes skipping over stuff that seems either uninteresting or unimportant. Hahaha yeah, the half-true thing almost sounded as if he was lying to do some damage control, so I was unsure what to make of it. Though it did give me the idea that Oh, and I was wondering, is this the definitive origin story for Or are there other versions of it? I really like the character, so if there are others I'd like to know what they are so I can read them.

I haven't read Hush or RIP, but it's on the list. I'm working my way through the big arcs selectively but chronologically. So that stuff is still way ahead. To give you an idea, right now I'm reading the Prodigal arc, with Dick Grayson as Batman. That's from '94. And yeah, Dean might as well either move some posts or merge the threads. I had forgotten about the comics thread, and this hasn't exactly been about Green Lantern exclusively

I can't comment on All-Star Superman since I haven't read it yet. But I read Geoff Johns' Superman: Secret Origin tonight, and it was pretty good. My favorite take on the character's origin by far.

Well I read Geoff's Superman: Secret Origin tonight and it was excellent. Definitely my favorite take on the origin story so far. I wonder if he'll follow it up with a new series or if it was just a one-time deal. Oh, and this thread quickly turned into "Talk about any comics"...

Yeah, that's what I was trying to explain. That huge leg at the bottom, it looks like it's connected to the body right there, but the perspective is weird. It's actually connected at the very end of its body, where I made the small white circle. I think so. Then again, I'm a fan of Reynolds. I'm sure there are die-hard GL fans who think he's a terrible pick. I'd forgotten about it, but yeah I have All-Star Superman on my HDD. I also have the animated movie, so I'm not sure if I should read it before watching or what. The thing with Superman is I'm never sure which series I should focus on. I've read mostly the origin stuff so far. There's a series called simply "The Man of Steel" (not to be confused with the origin miniseries from 1986) that ran for a little over a hundred issues. That seems manageable, but I've heard complaints about it. I actually started reading The Dark Knight Returns a few year ago (around the time The Dark Knight had just come out in theaters, I think) but I never finished it. Couldn't get into it, for some reason. Now that I'm more familiar with the comics universe, I'm planning on giving it another shot. It's sitting on my HDD at the moment. I just finished The Long Halloween and I think I'll read it next, actually! Other than that, I started collecting all the new related series that have started to come out last year. The new Batman and Robin with Dick and Damian, Batman Inc., Gotham City Sirens, Red Robin and Batgirl. I'm not going to start reading any of them until I catch up with the Final Crisis/Return of Bruce Wayne/Battle for the Cowl story arcs, though. I also have Gotham City Central, though I wasn't yet sure whether or not I would read it. It just came with a big pack of comics I downloaded. If you say it's that good, though, I'll have to give it a shot.

Here The small circled area on the right is where the big leg connects. The other, larger, circle on the left is where the "missing" leg is. Like I said in my second post, the Rebirth miniseries is a great jumping on point for Green Lantern, if you're interested. It gives you just enough background to understand how everything got to where it is, and it sets you up perfectly to get into the current series (v4). Plus, issues 29 to 35 of the series actually re-tell the origin of Hal Jordan and how he first became a Green Lantern. So that's really nice. Green Lantern Rebirth and the v4 series are written by Geoff Johns, and so far the guy is pretty damn good. He also wrote a Secret Origin miniseries for Superman and another Rebirth for The Flash, both of which I'm planning on reading soon. As for Bats and Supes. I haven't read a whole lot of Superman yet. Only the Man of Steel origin from the 80s. I've been getting more seriously into Batman, though. Started at Year One and am currently reading through some of the more important story arcs and one-offs. I read A Death in The Family, the Vengeance of Bane special and KnightFall. Though the part where Azrael takes over for Bats bored me a bit, so I skipped ahead and I'm now at the part where Dick Grayson is wearing the cowl. Other than that, I read The Killing Joke, The Man Who Laughs and started The Long Halloween last night.

Hahaha, I hadn't noticed that but now that you mention it, the perspective in that pic is a bit weird. The legs are attached at the very end of its body. You can see the other one faintly in the background, on the left side of the pic.

Also, Abin Sur, not Amun If you look at the WonderCon footage (middle vid), at around 0:44, right after Abin Sur is knocked down by the yellow blast and escapes, you see the dark face coming at him. When you see the black entity in later shots, notice how there's yellow energy coming out of it. Though I'd really like to know why it is that whenever they have to represent a "big alien monster" in comic book movies they always seem to equate it to "big evil cloud". It's fucking ridiculous.... How exactly does a cloud look more menacing than this?

This doesn't bother me too much. I loved Brotherhood and I'm sure I'll love this just as much. Plus, playing as both Ezio and Altaïr could be awesome if they find a good balance between the two. That being said, what I really wanted was a proper ACIII with a new setting and protagonist. And the more they delay that, the higher the expectations get. If they stay in Ezio's time for too long and only slightly refine the gameplay, it's going to get old pretty quick. They might've gotten away with an only slightly improved ACIII if they'd released it after ACII. But after 3 games, now it'll be time for another significant upgrade. Otherwise ACIII will just feel half-assed.

Hehe, oh well, guess I'll see soon enough. Just finished issue 8 and am currently debating whether I should go to bed or just read the last 5 issues. edit: Hahaha, oh man, in retrospect, I'm actually glad I read the spoiler. It made the final reveal that much more surprising and awesome.

Aww man, why'd I read this earlier today? >_< I just read the first three issues of The Long Halloween and it's excellent so far but... that definitely takes some of the fun out of it

Yeah, it wasn't exactly stated outright in the trailers that the black cloudy thing is Parallax, but it has been confirmed that the entity is in the movie, so it seemed like a logical assumption. And I started reading at the Green Lantern: Rebirth series and then moved on to the current series (v4). I did some research and it seemed pretty unanimous that that was the best jumping on point. I've also been reading the concurrently ongoing Green Lantern Corps. I sorta took a break from it after the Sinestro Corps War story arc, though. Been mostly reading some Batman over the past week or so.

Haven't seen a thread yet about this one. I've only recently (as in a few weeks ago) started reading the Green Lantern comics, but I'm already hooked. I've since gotten much more into comics than I ever did before (started reading some old Batman stuff and some Superman), but the GL series have such a unique flavor to them. I just dig the alien diversity in them. This footage is actually what made me want to start reading the comics right away instead of waiting for the movie. I decided I didn't want to be introduced to the character by the movie. I wanted to see the movie as a fan instead. That was definitely the right call, as far as I'm concerned. The CG looks a bit off to me, but I was starting to worry that they wouldn't be in the movie. Then, around the 0:17 mark, an interesting logo can be spotted B) Should be familiar to fans of the current series. At this point, the only thing I'm not sold on yet is the looks of Parallax. I thought the whole evil cloud thing had been proved to be a bad idea by Rise of the Silver Surfer, but I guess we'll see. Hopefully it'll work in this movie. So, who's looking forward to this?

Yeah, I think the point of that decision was less about getting different outcomes and more about trying to elicit an emotional response from the player. Like, it was meant to be this tough moral decision. Whether they succeeded or not is arguable, but I know I hesitated slightly before doing it.

I've replayed the game numerous times, so I don't really remember all the details of my first playthrough, but here's how it ended.

But now I have to decide whether I stop DOWII and go play Dark Crusade right away or not. Can I ignore Soulstorm for now or is it also important story-wise? Oh and I've wanted to see Ultramarines for a while now! The animation looks absolutely shit, but I heard it's good fun if you're into the 40K.

I played the original Dawn of War a few years ago and really loved it, even though I'm usually not very good at RTS games. I wasn't crazy on Winter Assault, though, so I never got around to playing Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Anyway, I started Dawn of War II recently and I absolutely love it! I really dig how Relic have done away with base building and have given a more rpg-like nature to the gameplay. Now I'm all kinds of excited about Space Marine. And even though I'm really not into MMOs, I'm really curious about Dark Millenium Online. The 40K setting is just too awesome for me to ignore any game set in it.

First Transformers was okay. Second was absolute shit. Not really looking forward to the third one, but I have to admit the second half of this trailer is pretty sick!
