  1. Dead Space 2. I knew I couldn't be far from the end, so I started playing tonight with the intent of not stopping until I had beaten it. Mission accomplished. I'm still not sure if I liked it better than the first one, but it was still an amazing game. Now I wanna play Extraction, but I also ordered 3D Dot Game Heroes and Red Dead Redemption friday night, so I should be getting them Wednesday at the latest. So, I don't want to start Extraction but not have enough time to finish it before RDR gets here, because I just know I'll have to put that game in the second it gets here. Must... decision... make!
  2. Just catched the ending of Serenity on TV :(... Man, I miss those characters.

Spoiler, the coolest character, Wash, dies.

      Fuck you, writes. That hurts.

  3. No, it doesn't and you can. I played the demo with my dualshock. Though it felt like I wasn't playing the game "right".
  4. Well, my prediction became truth. I just came home and am currently drunk and I just ordered me a Move Navigation controller + Red Dead Redemption. I even added 3D Dot Game Heroes to the order at the last minute. Let's hope I don't regret this in the morning
  5. I didn't expect much from this. I'm no comic book nerd but I really love Bryan Singer's first two movies. The third one was just bad... But, to my surprise, the trailer makes the movie look not bad at all. Whether it'll actually be good remains to be seen.
  6. Oh, hard times, no doubt about it. But with little to no direct competition, I think Harmonix is in the best position possible to get back on their feet. It won't happen overnight and it won't be easy, but if anyone can make it, it's them. Their product is now the only viable option for music game fans (at least for the foreseeable future). It's the only one that will be getting continued support and I think that if they keep making the games, by the time the next iteration of the series comes out, more people will have had time to invest in either the keyboard or the pro instruments, so they'll be more willing to invest in more software. Plus, some people just aren't very informed when it come to the gaming industry. They stayed with Guitar Hero all these years out of brand loyalty or because they didn't know any better. At some point, they'll inevitably have to check out Rock Band if they're still interested in the genre.
  7. It's been too long since the last time I posted in this thread! Think it was during the Steam holiday sale. This time it was a little bit more expensive. Well, I guess technically I bought Dead Space: Ignition over PSN like two weeks ago. But I don't think that even qualifies as a game. At least not as a good one. Though it did get me a sweet Hacker suit that I have used in my first purchase: And included with this was a nice free copy of Dead Space: Extraction, which brings me to my second purchase: Next up: Because holding a dualshock in my left hand when playing Killzone 3 feels awkward as shit. I haven't technically bought it yet, but I'll probably be ordering it off Amazon.ca before I go to bed. And while I'm on Amazon, I'm very tempted to also grab this: The only reason I haven't ordered yet is I haven't quite managed to convince myself to spend another chunk of cash on games again so quickly... DS2 and the Move bundle almost cost me 200 bucks! But hey, I'm getting drunk tomorrow night, so if I haven't ordered it by then, I'll probably drunk order it when I come home wasted Booze. Is there any problem is doesn't solve?
  8. Problem is, gaming with multiple Move controllers is pretty damn expensive. Just thinking about a 4-player Move-only game makes me shudder. As it is now I'm not even sure if Sports Champions supports multiple players using the same controller like the Wii does.
  9. Yeah, I think The Fight uses two, but that game just looks awful. Plus, another 50 bucks is a bit steep after spending 100$ on the whole bundle + 30$ on the Navi, which I think I'll be ordering from Amazon tonight (along with RDR, I think!). I was mostly asking for future reference.
  10. Oh and forgot to ask: did any of you get a second Move controller? If so, did you feel it was worth it? I'm not planning on getting a second one any time soon, but I might look into it down the line if it seems to be worth the investment.
  11. I bought one yesterday. I had wanted one since launch but wasn't really in a hurry to get one. But I was buying Dead Space 2 yesterday and felt that I needed one to properly experience Dead Space: Extraction. So far I've tried a few of the Sports Champions games, Killzone 3 and some demos. Killzone 3 is pretty cool. It gives an edge in aiming but I'm having troubles turning efficiently. That will take some getting used to. Sports Champions: I am loving the hell out of the ping pong game. Makes me wish for a full-blown ping pong game on par with regular sports game (i.e. not a minigame). Other than that I tried the demos for Eyepet and The Shoot. The Shoot was fun, but I definitely wouldn't pay 40 bucks for it. $20 tops, so I'll keep an eye out for a price drop. Eyepet was... the most retarded and pointless thing I've ever experienced. It was nice getting to try an augmented reality title, but I am definitely not in the target audience here. Also, at first I felt a bit like a sucker for wanting a navigation controller, but after playing Killzone 3, the one-handed dualshock thing really doesn't work for me. Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. Also, that huge gun thing accessory that was on Kotaku looks sweet. No way I'd pay 40 bucks for it, but I still want one.
  12. While competition is always good for everyone, I can't help but be glad to see Rock Band and Harmonix win this one. Their product is a whole lot superior and their heart is obviously into it. Though it came as a surprise that Activision isn't doing all they can to make Guitar Hero into a money maker again. But I guess that would require some creativity, and they seem to be firmly opposed to that. I wonder if anyone in the company will realize that the genre isn't dead, and that they simply drove the series into the ground themselves. And considering how they keep opening up new studios to work on COD, I can see that series going down the in the coming years as well. Of course... COD just might be the exception. The one that keeps selling
  13. Figured out why I got the old layout earlier. I just went back and it was the new one. But sometimes when I go to "www.kotaku.com", once the site actually loads, the address says "ca.kotaku.com". So I went there and sure enough the old layout appeared.

  15. Uh, what? Just went on Kotaku and the old layout loaded for the main page. But when I click an article, it loads it in the new layout. I even had the notification that I had 11 replies (only one of them was new, though).
  16. Oh, stupid me. Yeah I've been reading that wiki for some useful info. Can't believe I didn't think to look it up myself
  17. Must go out to brave the snowstorm if I want to get Dead Space 2. Funny, I'm nowhere near as hesitant when I need to get to class.... yet even though it is obvious that Dead Space 2 > class, I'm still hesitant.

      Dead Space 2 > hesitance.

      Fixed it for ya.

The quest has been succesful! For defeating the snowstorm (and parting with some cash) I have been rewarded with Dead Space 2 and a PlayStation Move bundle! Hurray!

Now which one to try first...

  18. Hehe, yeah the bosses' souls were the reason I restarted the game the first time. I had exchanged both Phalanx and Tower Knight's souls for currency souls to level up and then found out I should've kept them to forge weapons. Now I'm keeping them and will make sure I use them right. As for the scraping spear, does it have any special properties? I was actually thinking on investing in the Evacuate miracle in case I ever get invaded. Though I think it was pretty expensive.
  19. Nah, I get it. I figured that was how you did it, but I asked just in case there was a simpler way I didn't know of. I'm in 3-1 right now. That place is creepy as hell! And I just got killed by a freaking mindflayer so now I have to go find my blood stain... oh joy!
  20. What the hell... I could swear I had replied but now it appears to be gone... Not the first time this happened in the last few days either... Weird. Anyway, as I had previously posted, so far I'm focusing my character on magic strength, so the Crescent Falchion you mentioned sounds like it could be useful, so thanks. Also, now that you mention coop, I've been wondering about something while reading this thread. How do you coop with someone specific? I was under the impression that it was basically random since there's no way to communicate with other players directly.
  21. I restarted this for the third time tonight. Every single time I defeat the first demon (Phalanx), then Tower Knight and then just fail miserably at whatever other level I attempt. Which makes me promptly stop. I don't think I've ever played the game for more than a few days to a week before shelving it again every time. This time, though. It's happening! I am kicking that game's ass! I definitely feel more prepared. Without reading anything spoilerish or too detailed ( that would be cheating) I looked around for some advice for beginners. So my new character is a Royalty, which seems to be unanimously accepted as the most beginner-friendly class ( and holy shit is Soul Arrow useful so far O_O...). When I stopped playing about 20mins ago, I had just defeated Tower Knight. So far things are going pretty smoothly, but I know the first two levels pretty much by heart at this point since they're basically the only ones I really played. I attempted some others, but I never finished any of them ( except for the one with the Armored Spider boss, but that was on my first game back when the game first came out, in like October 2009). Anyway, perhaps some of you guys have some advice? In what order would you suggest I tackle the early levels? In this case, after having completed 1-1 and 1-2, where to next? What kind of weapon/shield should I go for? I've often read that finding something that fits your playstyle is most important, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to know what exactly to look for and where. Right now my equipment is the wizard's robes the Royalty starts with along with a +2 scimitar and +1 buckler. I'm pretty sure the buckler's gonna have to go soon, but I haven't come across anything to replace it with so far.
  22. Rock Band 3 I know how that sounds, but when I beat the last Road Challenge a few days ago, I got a message that said like "Congratulations on beating Rock band 3" and then the credits rolled. So there. What's weird is that the Road Challenges felt more like kind of a side thing. They're tour that your band goes on, from local venues to eventually worldwide ones. But they're found under the Quick Play menu. The "proper" Career mode, on the other hand, is basically just a list of challenges for every instruments, difficulties and game modes. They almost feel like achievements/trophies at times. Like "Hit x% of notes in x amount of songs" or "5 Star x amount of songs on Hard Difficulty". Though by playing them you receive unlockables and fans. Feels sort of backwards, if you ask me...
  23. Watched Paranormal Activity 2 the other night. People who enjoyed the first one should enjoy this one as well. It's a bit unoriginal in the sense that it pretty much constantly tries to emulate and one up the first one, but at least it does it well. Plus, I thought the ending was pretty good. It ties the movie nicely with the first one.
  24. Ah you're right... The buttons to show all comments or only featured ones still aren't there. Nevermind, then. I was in TAY when I noticed them and thought it applied to everything, but I guess not... Wonder why they would have them everywhere but in speakup?
  25. To update on my previous post, now that the proper version is live, I'm seeing the gray, non-star comments like before. So I guess there's that... Still not sure if I'm going to stick with it yet. I usually don't have difficulties adapting to change, so I'll probably get used to it, but meh... Just so damn ugly.
