  1. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen it at some point. I think it's somewhere around the mentions that you don't really own any of your games and whatnot. Every now and then someone from europe will claim that his country has some sort of customer protection law against such EULAs or something of the sort, but I never heard of anything coming from it.
  2. Thanks, I had a quick look while in class and the interview bit made me laugh. Also made me realize I don't remember much of Indigo Prophecy's plot. I played it on PS2 when it originally came out. I grabbed it on Steam a few years ago, but the PC controls are just horrible, and the game won't detect my gamepad properly, so I haven't replayed it yet. I'll read that more attentively later on, but I just wanted to say that I like Cage's games not for his writing (which is admittedly lacking) but for the way they present gameplay differently. Anyway, enough off topic now.
  3. I'm not sure, really. Whenever stuff like that is brought up on the Steam forums, the Valve Legion gets all up in arms about how it's all in the EULA and how buying games on Steam means agreeing to it. Though I think in this particular case they might have just removed the game from the accounts instead of disabling them. I could be wrong, but it just seems like a special situation where Valve might have made an exception (since they were apparently forced by Activision to act).
  4. Well basically disabling means your account is locked and you can't access it anymore. It can happen for a range of reasons, from you doing a chargeback because they wouldn't refund a game, to simply paypal screwing up your payment. Though a disabled account and a ban are two entirely different things. A ban is only VAC (Valve's anti-cheat system) related. You still have access to your account and games, you just can't play on VAC-secured servers anymore. And only Valve games and Steamworks games (Civ V, New Vegas and the last two COD, for example) use VAC.
  5. Disabling it would be my guess. Which is my main fear with Steam: how a single little thing can cost you your hundreds of games. I love Valve and Steam, but I really hope at some point there will be some legal thing that prevents them from doing that. They should not be allowed to hold hostage like that games you've already paid for.
  6. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/infamous-2-release-date/ Infamous 2 release date confirmed to be June 7. Between that and L.A. Noire, I'm seriously going to need a summer job once the current semester ends!
  7. Hey, now, what do you have against David Cage? He makes cool games... he just has, well... let's say "difficulties" when it's time to come up with an ending.
  8. What?! Damnit! I was expecting some kind of warning from Steam... Like "Hey, this just got added to your game library!" Now I see the game's store page says it's available... but this figures. It comes out the minute I stop actively trying to figure out when it comes out... Stupid irony Anyway, thanks for the heads up, man. I'll be downloading it as soon as tonight's episode of The Big Bang Theory finishes downloading Also, turns out those rumors that Telltale are working on a Walking Dead game were true! http://ps3.ign.com/articles/115/1150836p1.html
  9. Holy crap, thanks for posting this, Jack! It somehow completed flew by my radar. Can't wait! Though I wonder why it's more expensive than BTTF. Which brings me to my next question: where the hell is BTTF Episode 2?!?
  10. Good God, did all the smart people leave when the Kotaku redesign launch? http://kotaku.com/#!5763556/theres-more-left-4-dead-coming-to-left-4-dead-2?comment=37105743

I tried reading the comments on Fight Night's uncensored music and rage quit after only 2.

  11. Yeah, you weren't kidding! I was focusing mostly on RDR for the first few days, but I played 3DDGH for a bit the other night and holy crap that game is awesome! I'm hesitant to play it more because I'm afraid I'll burn right through it. I only completed the first temple so far, but the nostalgia was insane. It reminded me how much I loved A Link To The Past back in the days. Darksiders gave me kind of a small Zelda fix a few weeks ago, but this is much more similar. I think I'm gonna have to get a Zelda title for my DS at some point. The last one I played was Wind Waker...
  12. Really looking forward to this. It's definitely on my top 5 most expected PS3 games. Bought the first one at launch and never regretted it. My first run was good and I finished it in only a few days. Then I went and did an evil run right after. Was one of my first Platinum trophy. Think the only one I had prior was Uncharted 1.
  13. I've been using Firefox for at least 5-6 years now. I think I first got it fairly close to its initial release. The main appeal originally was that I was the only one using it on a shared PC, so it meant I had my own start page and bookmarks. I take all that for granted now, but at the time it was so amazing I tried Chrome when it first came out, but I really didn't much care for its interface. Constantly hearing praise for it makes me kinda want to give it another shot, but meh... I'm weird like that. I tend to not really fight change when it's forced on me and I usually have no problem adapting. But if the change is optional, I won't go through it. Probably out of laziness. So yeah, strange mix of being set in my ways while not being too stubborn about it.
  14. Haha, yeah I also do that a lot. Just gave Killzone 3 another shot and after tweaking the settings a little I had a much greater control of where I was looking in general. Plus, I got my Navigation controller today, so that felt a LOT more natural than a one-handed dualshock.
  15. Well, I got my Move Navigation controller today, so I should give the beta another shot later on. That is, if I can manage to turn on my PS3 and not launch Red Dead right away. It's slow to start, but so damn good.
  16. Started playing RDR today. It's good so far but it's so damn slow to start... 2-3 hours in and I'm still doing rancher jobs and only had a few shooting missions. I'm having GTA IV flashbacks...

      HotChops

the ranching stuff are my favorite parts of the game. I recommend going slow. Appreciate the scenery. Walk instead of running. Watch a sunset. See the way that the people in Hennigan's Stead go about their daily lives.

Well, yeah, the rancher jobs are fun and all. And the world looks pretty good at times. But RDR being a western, I'm kinda looking forward to getting into shootouts and duels and whatnot.

      Showmeyomoves!

Despite what people on the internet will have you believe, RDR really is just GTAIV in a Western setting. Not that there's anything wrong with that, though.

  17. So do you guys have any Move games that you would recommend? I'm not ready to start Dead Space: Extraction yet and I'd like something else to play besides Sports Champions. Something that feels like a good fit for the controller, not just something that requires pointing. I tried a few demos but none really stood out as something worth buying (except maybe Tumble. It was fun, but I think it's 15$ and at that price, no thanks). I also looked at the list of Move compatible games on wikipedia, and of the dozen or so that I looked up because they seemed interesting, none seemed to have reviewed particularly well.
  18. Goddamnit. Fuck you, EA. Fuck you so goddamned much.
  19. Eh, none of the instruments were possible to find at launch in Canada either. I had to import them all from Gamestop.com
  20. Well I finished the game about an hour ago. Absolutely loved it. I agree with what Strangelove said about them taking a few pages out of Uncharted 2's book. Some parts just felt very similar. Like Stalkers are fucking assholes, though. And I pretty much used only the plasma cutter all the way through. I grabbed the Pulse Rifle but only used it when I ran out of ammo for the plasma cutter. I just didn't feel the need to get the other weapons. I beat the original DS on Hardcore using only the plasma cutter last summer... Plus, on my first run of the original, I had a pre-order code to unlock the Scorpion Suit, so I never had to purchase the advanced models, which meant I had more than enough cash to buy every single weapon pretty quickly, and ended up not having a single fully upgraded gun by the end of the game. The cash I saved on not buying weapons allowed me to get every suit almost as soon as I found the schematics. Overall it seemed shorter than the first one. Took me a bit under 8 hours to finish it, and I'm pretty sure the original took me a solid 10. Was also a bit disappointed by but that's a very minor complaint.
  21. Dead Space 2. I knew I couldn't be far from the end, so I started playing tonight with the intent of not stopping until I had beaten it. Mission accomplished. I'm still not sure if I liked it better than the first one, but it was still an amazing game. Now I wanna play Extraction, but I also ordered 3D Dot Game Heroes and Red Dead Redemption friday night, so I should be getting them Wednesday at the latest. So, I don't want to start Extraction but not have enough time to finish it before RDR gets here, because I just know I'll have to put that game in the second it gets here. Must... decision... make!
  22. Just catched the ending of Serenity on TV :(... Man, I miss those characters.

Spoiler, the coolest character, Wash, dies.

      Fuck you, writes. That hurts.

  23. No, it doesn't and you can. I played the demo with my dualshock. Though it felt like I wasn't playing the game "right".
  24. Well, my prediction became truth. I just came home and am currently drunk and I just ordered me a Move Navigation controller + Red Dead Redemption. I even added 3D Dot Game Heroes to the order at the last minute. Let's hope I don't regret this in the morning
