  1. To update on my previous post, now that the proper version is live, I'm seeing the gray, non-star comments like before. So I guess there's that... Still not sure if I'm going to stick with it yet. I usually don't have difficulties adapting to change, so I'll probably get used to it, but meh... Just so damn ugly.
  2. I haven't tried the new stuff when I played yesterday. Though I'm curious about the new game mode. It's called Chest Capture. From what I understand, it's basically CTF. One weird thing I noticed though is when you go into the settings to set what DLC you want to play with (for matchmaking, I assume), you can turn on and off both Animus Project Update 1.0 and 2.0, but you can't have them both on at the same time Plus, there's a grayed out option for Animus Project Update 3.0, so I guess that's on the way. Anyway, if someone can convince D-K to give it another shot, and if we can find a few more people, it could be cool. I know there's a thread about the game on the other forum, so that might be a good place to recruit people.
  3. I have something like 60 DVDs. Only about a dozen blurays, though, so I'll list those I have. Total Recall The Running Man StarGate Sweeney Todd Sleepy Hollow V For Vendetta Pan's Labyrinth Dawn of The Dead (the 2002 Zack Snyder remake) Batman Begins The Dark Knight Dr. Strangelove and unfortunately Near Dark (Got it for 10 bucks at Best Buy because I had heard it was good and had wanted to see it for a while. Turned out to be a huge mistake since it was a fucking piece of shit) I haven't bought any in a while, but I've been meaning to grab A Clockwork Orange and 2001. Also very likely going to grab Inception since Nolan is among my favorite directors. I also need to get Watchmen. And a ton more... I couldn't possibly list all my DVDs, though. It's mostly sci-fi, horror and action. Some Star Trek. The Terminator, Alien and Predator series. All three seasons of Arrested Development, Firefly and a few seasons of South Park. Evil Dead, X-Men 1&2, some Tarantino. The usual.
  4. So, uh, aren't you guys getting a bit sick of Uncharted 2 all the time? We need to get some stabbing going on again! Since the last time we played, there's been a new free Animus Update (2.0) so new maps , etc... You can get it from the PS Store. And I just went to play just now and found out there's been a patch (1.04) so perhaps the network issues have been fixed. So come on guys, let's get murderin'!
  5. Oh, so then I guess I was seeing comments made by non-stars. But they were all among the hidden replies. Every thread I see is either started by a star or a promoted comment, but I can't see any non-star unpromoted threads, so I'm wondering if the promoted ones are only there because they were promoted on the old site and once the new one goes live it'll be stars only... I still can't get over how horrible that new site is. My dislike for kotaku in general has only grown over the past year, but this just might be what makes me stop visiting altogether :/
  6. So wait, they've re-banned you recently Dean? Man, they really have it in for you... You'd think you did something horrible to them, like running over Crecente's dog with a car or something Anyway, as for the speakup link you posted, I have a star and all I'm seeing are posts from other stars and promoted comments. Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but I don't see any way to "show all comments" or anything of the sort. Though when clicking to see replies, some commenters have an empty star (just an outline, it's not colored) next to their avatars, and if I mouse over it (or a regular star), it says "toggle star" The hell is that?
  7. Started smoking during my last high school year but quit like 3 or 4 years ago. I quit both weed and cigarettes at the same time. Weed, I had been cutting back a lot for some time in hopes of eventually stopping, but I quit cigarettes cold turkey. Considering the amount of people around me who keep trying to quit with various kinds of pills, patches, etc.. and still fail, I'm not sure what should amaze me most: how easy it was for me, or how hard it seems to be for them. Maybe I just have strong willpower. B) Nowadays the mere smell of cigarettes digusts me, so I don't really see myself relapsing. Oh, and even when I was a smoker, I supported the ban. Smoking is a personal choice, not something people should have to endure because of others.
  8. I'd love to be excited about this, but I have yet to even scratch the surface of Demon's Souls... I finished the first level and defeated, I think, 2 bosses beyond that. Worst part is... I've had the game since launch :'( I spent a week getting my ass kicked when it came out but then Uncharted 2 came out so I put it aside and just never got back to it. Every single time there's an "all-white" event, I tell myself I should take the opportunity to get back into it while it's easier, but I never do Though lately I've taken the initiative of going through my PS3 backlog. I've taken out all my unplayed and unfinished games and put them on a special shelf right above my monitor, so they're always there just above me and they bring me much shame. Demon's Souls is among them, though, so there is yet hope! Other notable titles on said shelf include Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Eternal Sonata.
  9. Well if you don't like Star Wars then it's no surprise you didn't enjoy the story of a Star Wars game... But regardless, I'm not saying it was like, better than Empire Strikes Back or anything. It was just enjoyable. I had more fun watching this story unfold than the mess they call the prequels. Mind you, I'm not the kind of crazy fanboy who goes around reading every expanded universe novel he can find, so I have no idea if this contradicts stuff that was already established or not, but I enjoyed seeing how the Rebel Alliance came to be.
  10. Completed God of War II a few days ago. And I just completed the first Force Unleashed about an hour ago. It's... just... man... what a fucking shitty game. It probably looked awesome on paper, but every single important aspect was executed poorly. It's like whoever was in charge never made sure that the various aspects of the game worked well together. Level design was atrocious. I stopped counting how often I fell to my death because either a] it wasn't clear that the ground ahead wasn't meant to be walked on and I just started sliding towards a cliff, b] I just fell while fighting because there were no invisible walls in a very small area where I was fighting strong enemies or c] I was just swarmed by enemies and when hit, the character's animation caused me to fall off a cliff. There was some fun to be had with the combat system, but it was nowhere near as polished as other games (like God of War, for example). Plus, it really, really sucked how the enemies didn't get sliced up when hit by a lightsaber. I mean, what the hell?! At least the story was pretty good. That's the only aspect I really can't complain about.
  11. I've seen people saying it changed yesterday, but I'm still seeing the old version on my pc.
  12. Yeah, I enjoyed the puzzle levels in the demo a lot, but the ones in the demo are so short that it almost feels like their sole purpose is to come between the "interactive novel" type moments, like they're only there to mix things up, almost like an afterthought. Hopefully it doesn't feel like way further into the game.
  13. Yeah Pachter's a giant tool who either states the obvious or completely ignorant bullshit, but I love GT's reviews. They haven't let me down so far.
  14. Latest completed titles would be Dead Space Ignition ( wanted to play at least SOMETHING until I can get DS 2 ) and God of War (from the GOW Collection) I also intend on completing GOW II tonight
  15. Well the fact that the "main" discussion seems to have moved over to the other place might have caused some people to drop out if they don't visit both places I guess? Anyway, as for myself, I haven't been playing a lot lately because that's just how I am with online games. Play them a lot for a week or two, then get bored and stop. Hell, I played Black Ops for like 20 hours (a lot for me) back in November and I don't think I've touched it once in the two months since.
  16. Dante's Inferno. Whenever I hear about it it's people calling it pure shit, and I just don't get that. Sure, it ripped off God of War big time and was nowhere near as good. But it's not complete garbage! I originally made the mistake of starting it right after 2 weeks spent platinuming God of War III. I was done with GOW 3 I but felt like playing something similar and had bought Dante's Inferno a few weeks before, so I put it in. I played for 2-3 hours and realized I was bored out of my mind, so I stopped. Picked up from where I had left off a few months later and suddenly I was enjoying the hell out of it... no pun intended. It was far from perfect and is nowhere near as good as other similar games, but I enjoyed it enough to play through it a second time for the platinum. Also, I love me some Greek mythology as much as anyone else, but I think Visceral Games really knocked it out of the park with their setting. The artistic design in some of the circles was just amazing. Plus, I thought it was nice to play something very much like God of War but in a different setting. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel.
  17. Finally started playing the God of War Collection I bought back in october. Went through the first GOW in like 2 days, finished it earlier today and got started on GOW 2 pretty much right away, now I'm about halfway through it. Such amazing games. Was my third time playing the first GOW but I had only ever played GOW 2 once before, years ago, so it feels sorta new-ish since I had forgotten most of it. I was impressed by how good the gameplay looks. I mean, it's obvious the games are from a previous gen, but Kratos and the enemies doesn't look bad at all. The cutscenes in the first one were pretty damn ugly, though. It looked basically like any other PS2 game when playing in 1080p on a HD display: absolutely shit. That's kind of the reason I rarely play PS2 games on my PS3 even though I have a 80GB model that has software BC.
  18. Hahaha I had completely forgotten that I was waiting on confirmation for my answer. I wrote off this thread as dead like 2 weeks ago. And seeing as Smooves' post is almost a week old, seems I was right
  19. Oh well, to each his own Every element of the game you listed as being unecessary and gimmicky, I loved. The camo could be a bit of a pain in the ass when you constantly had to enter the menu to change it, but I loved the healing mechanics. Food could be annoying, though. That much I'll give you. But I enjoyed the survival theme they were going for. As for interrogations, I barely ever used that myself. Also, I played MGS 2 a few years after it came out, so I knew going in that I would be playing as Raiden. I think that factored heavily in my not hating his guts like everyone else, so not playing as Raiden really has nothing to do with why I prefer MGS 3. 3 just felt like a more complete game overall. Never played that, but it's on my list. Never played those either, but I never really found a reason to be interested in that series.
  20. I can't really tell if you're trying to troll me or just joking. I know you're known as the resident troll, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But if you really feel MGS 2 is better, care to explain why? I thought 3 had better, deeper controls and gameplay. And a superior, less convoluted story. Plus the jungle setting helped make the game feel different.
  21. No english whatsoever, whether it's subs or dubs. But you get to play two of the Nightmare levels, which I thought were really fun. Though it kinda sucks going through the cutscenes/dialog chapters if you don't understand japanese. I found myself skipping most of them.
  22. Ha, man the number of times I just ragequit STALKER because I forgot to save and lost over an hour of progress....
  23. Yeah, this. Give me a quick save button and I'll abuse it in every possible way. Other than that, when it comes to console games with save points, I usually save every time I come across one.
  24. Damnit! Because of an unforeseen financial setback, I found myself unable to pre-order and I won't be able to get the damn game for at least a few weeks, maybe less if I'm lucky That being said, I thought the latest PA was hilarious
  25. Doesn't look like they'll mention a pricepoint. Or give details about how games will be delivered (I think I read something about flash carts?) Also, since they're using a codename, I guess they're not planning on calling it the PSP 2? Oh well, can't wait to see what kind of retarded name they'll come up with.
