  1. Yeah Pachter's a giant tool who either states the obvious or completely ignorant bullshit, but I love GT's reviews. They haven't let me down so far.
  2. Latest completed titles would be Dead Space Ignition ( wanted to play at least SOMETHING until I can get DS 2 ) and God of War (from the GOW Collection) I also intend on completing GOW II tonight
  3. Well the fact that the "main" discussion seems to have moved over to the other place might have caused some people to drop out if they don't visit both places I guess? Anyway, as for myself, I haven't been playing a lot lately because that's just how I am with online games. Play them a lot for a week or two, then get bored and stop. Hell, I played Black Ops for like 20 hours (a lot for me) back in November and I don't think I've touched it once in the two months since.
  4. Dante's Inferno. Whenever I hear about it it's people calling it pure shit, and I just don't get that. Sure, it ripped off God of War big time and was nowhere near as good. But it's not complete garbage! I originally made the mistake of starting it right after 2 weeks spent platinuming God of War III. I was done with GOW 3 I but felt like playing something similar and had bought Dante's Inferno a few weeks before, so I put it in. I played for 2-3 hours and realized I was bored out of my mind, so I stopped. Picked up from where I had left off a few months later and suddenly I was enjoying the hell out of it... no pun intended. It was far from perfect and is nowhere near as good as other similar games, but I enjoyed it enough to play through it a second time for the platinum. Also, I love me some Greek mythology as much as anyone else, but I think Visceral Games really knocked it out of the park with their setting. The artistic design in some of the circles was just amazing. Plus, I thought it was nice to play something very much like God of War but in a different setting. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel.
  5. Finally started playing the God of War Collection I bought back in october. Went through the first GOW in like 2 days, finished it earlier today and got started on GOW 2 pretty much right away, now I'm about halfway through it. Such amazing games. Was my third time playing the first GOW but I had only ever played GOW 2 once before, years ago, so it feels sorta new-ish since I had forgotten most of it. I was impressed by how good the gameplay looks. I mean, it's obvious the games are from a previous gen, but Kratos and the enemies doesn't look bad at all. The cutscenes in the first one were pretty damn ugly, though. It looked basically like any other PS2 game when playing in 1080p on a HD display: absolutely shit. That's kind of the reason I rarely play PS2 games on my PS3 even though I have a 80GB model that has software BC.
  6. Hahaha I had completely forgotten that I was waiting on confirmation for my answer. I wrote off this thread as dead like 2 weeks ago. And seeing as Smooves' post is almost a week old, seems I was right
  7. Oh well, to each his own Every element of the game you listed as being unecessary and gimmicky, I loved. The camo could be a bit of a pain in the ass when you constantly had to enter the menu to change it, but I loved the healing mechanics. Food could be annoying, though. That much I'll give you. But I enjoyed the survival theme they were going for. As for interrogations, I barely ever used that myself. Also, I played MGS 2 a few years after it came out, so I knew going in that I would be playing as Raiden. I think that factored heavily in my not hating his guts like everyone else, so not playing as Raiden really has nothing to do with why I prefer MGS 3. 3 just felt like a more complete game overall. Never played that, but it's on my list. Never played those either, but I never really found a reason to be interested in that series.
  8. I can't really tell if you're trying to troll me or just joking. I know you're known as the resident troll, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But if you really feel MGS 2 is better, care to explain why? I thought 3 had better, deeper controls and gameplay. And a superior, less convoluted story. Plus the jungle setting helped make the game feel different.
  9. No english whatsoever, whether it's subs or dubs. But you get to play two of the Nightmare levels, which I thought were really fun. Though it kinda sucks going through the cutscenes/dialog chapters if you don't understand japanese. I found myself skipping most of them.
  10. Ha, man the number of times I just ragequit STALKER because I forgot to save and lost over an hour of progress....
  11. Yeah, this. Give me a quick save button and I'll abuse it in every possible way. Other than that, when it comes to console games with save points, I usually save every time I come across one.
  12. Damnit! Because of an unforeseen financial setback, I found myself unable to pre-order and I won't be able to get the damn game for at least a few weeks, maybe less if I'm lucky That being said, I thought the latest PA was hilarious
  13. Doesn't look like they'll mention a pricepoint. Or give details about how games will be delivered (I think I read something about flash carts?) Also, since they're using a codename, I guess they're not planning on calling it the PSP 2? Oh well, can't wait to see what kind of retarded name they'll come up with.
  14. Aww man, staying up for this was a terrible idea! I'll never be able to sleep now! So many questions! Thankfully I only have class in the afternoon, so I should still manage to get a decent amount of sleep
  15. Yeah I knew Uncharted was legit. But I don't think Yakuza and MGS 4 are. Though I was under the impression that MGS4 was actually running on it, not just a video.
  16. Based on what I'm reading on the Kotaku liveblog, sounds like most of these PS3 games running on it are merely tests.
  17. Man, I hope they're not going to start porting every PS3 game under the sun to the NGP. I'd much rather they develop original titles exclusive to the handheld. If that Uncharted game really is just a port of Drake's Fortune, I'll be really disappointed.
  18. Ha, I love how it looks nothing like the so-called "leaked" pics that kept popping up. In this day and age, it's nice to be genuinely surprised by a reveal. Plus, I love this design way more than all that sliding screen crap. Color me excited!
  19. MGS3 is better than MGS2, though. And don't get me wrong. I love MGS 2 and I never understood all the hate it gets. But MGS 3 was a much better game in every possible way. Can't argue with FF XII, though. I thought it was great, but if it's only a top 5, it doesn't make the list for me. As for Disgaea, while I also loved the hell out of it, I played it on my PSP so it doesn't qualify for me. But anyway, here's my version of the list. 1. Metal Gear Solid 3 2. Shadow of the Colossus 3. tie between God of War 2/Devil May Cry 3 4. Dragon Quest VIII 5. Persona 3 FES (though I strongly suspect that Persona 4 is much better, but I haven't played it yet since I am still working on finishing P3) I sorta cheated with the tie, but I find a top 5 to be too restrictive. The two games are fairly similar anyway and I honestly couldn't say which of the two I enjoyed the most.
  20. The original PSOne Silent Hill is on the PlayStation Store. I only played it for the first time when they released it a year and a half ago. It holds up surprisingly well, imo. I mean, it is ugly as fuck and the controls are a bit wonky, but the atmosphere is mind blowing. It scared me infinitely more than anything I've played the last two gens.
  21. A Silent Hill HD Collection needs to happen. It would absolutely need to include Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 as well as a port of the Wii version of Shattered Memories with Move support. It would feel incomplete if any of those were omitted. Also, including the original PSOne SH would make it complete and perfect, but it wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't in there.
  22. I still have my copies of Substance and Subsistence on PS2, so it really wouldn't bother me if they went with the basic releases (Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater) for the HD collection. Heh, if it turns out to be real, it'll be like the third time I buy all three games. I bought Subsistence when it came out. Then I got the Essential Collection when that came out because I didn't have MGS 2 and I had only ever played a pirated copy of the first MGS on PC and wanted to own a legit copy. Then I rebought MGS when it came out on PSN, so I could play it on my PSP. And when I finally found a mint condition copy of Substance for PS2 on ebay about a year and a half ago, I snatched it and sold the Essential Collection.
  23. Hahaha that's more treasures than I ever even saw on my first playthrough. I only bothered with them once I was going for the platinum. Anyway, Uncharted 2's campaign is much, MUCH better than the first one. Admittedly, I absolutely loved the first one, but I don't think you'll find U2's to be annoying at all. As for me, I finished Darksiders earlier this week. Pretty great game. Felt a bit like Zelda at times. Can't wait for the sequel, especially with that ending.
  24. Finished Darksiders earlier this week and got back into Persona 3 FES. I stopped playing it like a year and a half ago. I had about 45 hours on my save when I stopped, and I've now added over 20 more to it over the course of only a few days. Game got has me hooked once more. Can't even tell why I stopped playing in the first place. Can't wait for Dead Space 2, but right now it's looking like I won't be able to get it at launch Probably gonna have to wait a few days, which sucks as I was hoping to be able to pre-order at the last minute so that I wouldn't have to waste 5 bucks on Ignition. Oh well...
  25. Hahaha yeah. Also, when I had to pick a fake name for Marty I went with Harry Callahan. I thought it was appropriate considering all the Clint Eastwood references in BTTF 3 Any of you guys know if Episode 2's release date has been confirmed? Oh and just came across this: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/21/the-walking-dead-game/ Actually read about it yesterday but it was on some unknown shit blog I'd never seen before, so I took it with a grain of salt. But now that Joystiq are running it, I guess it must be true. So Telltale have some kind of an event next month and are set to reveal not one, not two or three, but five new projects!? And the way this is said really doesn't sound like it's 5 "episodes" of the same game but rather 5 separate titles. One of them is said to based on something currently big on TV and in the comic book world. Joystiq seem to think it's The Walking Dead, but that only seems to be their guess, not any kind of confirmation. Personally, I can't think of anything else, though.
