  1. Hahaha the space stage has to be the most divisive of them all. I either hear that it's the most boring part of the game, or that it's the best and that everything else is worth playing just to get to it.
  2. Latest purchases. All of this for less than a full priced game would cost. God I love Steam so damn much
  3. Hahahahaha wow, no way any screen name origin story can ever top Yarfunkle's. That was classic. Mine is simple. When I registered my first email address, I used for screen name a reference to something I was a fan of at the time. Over the years I stopped being a fan of it and eventually got really sick of the name. The solution? Disemvowelling. FLD is that same name but without the vowels. At one point I also came up with Toxicitizen (which is a play on the System of a Down song/album title "Toxicity") when creating a new primary email address, but I only use it for game related stuff like Steam or PSN now. It's literally never taken, which makes me feel both original and creative.
  4. Forgot to mention it in my previous post, but it feels like the psychological aspect of it could really add to the scares. First one had a great atsmophere and sound design, but wasn't really that scary. When playing the demo,
  5. Yeah, I really don't expect something very in-depth. But I keep hearing that even though every aspect of the game is very basic, that the game as a whole is more than the sum of its parts. Guess I'll find out in 30mins.
  6. It's out?! But .. but, but.. it's not on Steeeeaaaamm :'( First episode is supposed to be free, though, right? I remember reading somewhere it would be free, but it doesn't seem to be the case... damnit! Kinda sucks that there aren't any great deals on Steam for Telltale games... One of today's deals is Tales of Monkey Island for 17.49$ and I paid 5 bucks for it not even two months ago. Wait, just checked on Steam and it seems there are now some deals. On the first day of the sale everything except the holiday pack was full priced (and the holiday pack didn't even include S&M season 1...), but now Strong Bad is 15$ and a pack for S&M season 1 and 2 is 30$. Seemed crazy that Strong Bad was 30$... the whole seasons costs 15$ on PSN and it came out like yesterday.
  7. Oh well, I grabbed the base game for 7.50$. It's installing right now. I'll try to think of it as an expensive demo I'll take a break from Metro 2033 and play it for a few hours tonight. If I really like it, I might grab the expansions. Buying separately costs a penny more than the bundle... so yeah, I think I'll survive. If it's meh, I'll only have wasted like 8 bucks. So no big loss there. I'm really tempted to grab Bully as well. The PC version used to be insanely broken, but I heard it's been patched and works fine now. I own the PS2 version and completed it years ago, but it might be worth 4$ to see the extra content in the scholarship edition. I remember liking the game a lot.
  8. You mean like voice chat isn't working? Or voices don't play in the single-player campaign? If the latter, talk about an experience-ruining bug!
  9. Well 20 is for the complete pack. I could get the base game alone for like 7.50$... But I figured if I do get it I might as well get the whole package while it's so cheap.
  10. Have any of you guys played Spore and if so would you recommend it? The base game and both expansions are all 75% off (bringing the complete pack from 80$ to a very reasonable 20$) but I'm really on the fence. I feel like I'm long overdue to try it. I've only ever seen people playing it, and even then not for very long. I never experienced the full game experience for myself and having recently gotten into Civilization, I feel like I might enjoy it (though I realize it's really nothing like Civ in terms of gameplay, but there are some basic similarities in general).
  11. You know, now that you mention it, there was one time when enemies were coming at me from behind and I turned around and it seemed like Isaac had turned more quickly than he used to, but it was very subtle so I didn't pay that much attention to it.
  12. When I saw that Chew was posting details this afternoon, I got the hell out of this thread. Even though it's a demo, I didn't want to "spoil" any part of it. Just played it and it's.. the same. That's not a bad thing, it just surprised me a bit. Very often, I find that sequels will feel slightly different from the original. Whether it's because the devs tweaked the controls a bit or altered the camera slightly. Here, everything was identical, as far as I could tell. Felt right at home Though the fact that it's more of the same (and that half of the demo is what was shown at E3) means that I'm neither more or less hyped than I was before playing the demo. It's only a month from release and I don't have that giddy excitement and eagerness I felt for other big sequels like Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2. Might be because I replayed the original twice in a row over the summer to get the platinum trophy. Oh well, if anything the demo at least reassured me that the game will be as good as the original, if not better.
  13. The original version of MGS 3 is just as playable as Subsistence. It just has that top-down camera every previous MGS game had and some people don't like it. The Subsistence version is pretty much the same except for an added and completely optional 3rd-person camera. It helped in some contexts and absolutely did not work in others. I found myself constantly switching between the two. Subsistence is hands-down the superior version of the product, but to say that the original version is unplayable is a gross exaggeration.
  14. Ha, my backlog is just too large for me to give myself a timeframe to get through it. My goal is a more achievable one for the christmas break: finish games I've started recently but for some reason never finished. Those would be: Metro 2033 Bayonetta GTA: EFLC Red Faction: Guerilla (started this last summer, probably gonna have to start over...) And of course I wouldn't have such an insane backlog if I didn't constantly do stupid shit like starting new games when I've already got so many to finish. For example, I started playing Darksiders and Just Cause 2 this week. And then there's the steam christmas sale. I don't even want to think of the effect it will have on my backlog. I bought stuff last year that I haven't gotten around to even installing yet...
  15. I assume it's out on Xbox Live ? No way in hell has PSN already been updated at 2PM....
  16. There's a school in the first one but I don't remember bodies falling out of lockers. So that probably was in SH2, which I did not play. I really want them to release a Silent Hill HD Collection for the PS3...
  17. Yeah, the original Silent Hill is an amazing game. It shames me that I only played it for the first time when it got released on PSN last year It creeped me right the fuck out and I loved every second of it! The atmosphere in that game is just perfect and it's quite an accomplishment that it's not ruined by the horribly dated graphics! Got the bad ending, though.. So I need to replay it at some point.
  18. For me, Firefly is "the one that got away". Whenever I'm reminded of it, I can't help but wonder what might have been If only it had lasted a few more seasons... It died before it ever had a chance of reaching it's prime, and it was just so damn good. :'( WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!
  19. I'd say contact steam support? That kinda stuff seems to happen a lot during big Steam sales, but it never happened to me
  20. I think Kayce said something about wanting to play but being on X360 when we played for the first time.
  21. The only christmas song you'll ever need.
