  1. Yeah, I played a little bit of DoW II years ago. I really dug the RPG-lite angle it took, I've been meaning to go back to it for a while now.
  2. I really need to get around to catching up on this series. Whenever I replayed the original, I always lost interest at the first expansion. I should probably just skip ahead to DoW II at this point. And yeah, GOH, there's way too many cool races in 40K to just leave it at those three.
  3. I'm actually glad it's a fall release. At first I was expecting late spring/early summer and I'd like to get a replay/achievements clean-up run done on the original before the sequel comes out, so this gives me plenty of time for that. Although, it'd be nice to see a Steam store page soon. With the recent discovery that Bethesda developed their own fucking launcher, I'm kinda worried they'll be moving towards having their own distribution and storefront and fuck everything about that. I don't want yet another unwanted shitty fucking app to deal with. edit: Oh my god, Corvo will be voiced by the guy that voiced Garrett in the original Thief games. Holy shit, that's fucking awesome!
  4. Welp, I'm still waiting on a few grades but, unless I somehow horribly screwed up on a final without realizing it, I'm done with both my semester and my bachelor's degree. That means it'll very soon be job hunting time and this book comes highly recommended for programming interview prep. Lol, that looks exactly like the corner of my room. I even still have the box for the computer case for the PC I built last year. I really need to get around to throwing all that stuff out...
  5. At night, yeah, and if you have good headphones, definitely use them. The game has fantastic sound design. I almost never use my headphones for games but I played this one entirely with them.
  6. The Evil Within and Alien Isolation are both fucking great. You should play those.
  7. Why did I wait so long to watch One Punch Man?! It's pretty damn good!

  8. The Wii U also has Wind Waker!
  9. I'm not delusional, I know Bloodborne has zero chance of happening. Persona 5 is just a matter of Sega slapping Atlus Japan and telling them to get their fucking heads out of their asses and realize it's 2016 and Steam is a thing that sells video games.
  10. Yeah okay, that makes sense. I've admittedly not played the Galaxy games but I thought SM3DL was infinitely better than the 64/Sunshine formula. I played those two back in the day and they were alright but they didn't blow me away or anything. 3D Land totally did. I thought the idea of 2D Mario level design within a 3D space was pretty novel and a ton of fun. The Wii U has Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101, though. That's some pretty goddamn solid exclusives right there.
  11. Isn't Zelda still coming to Wii U? Also, coming right off of Super Mario 3D Land, you got Super Mario 3D World, which is even better from the looks of it! It's actually a genius move, think about it! "Our launch line-up isn't weak you guys, it's totally just the usual summer drought!"
  12. So, I'm unclear on the specifics here but videogamesplus.ca either ordered reprints or found some stock sitting in a warehouse or something. So, they now have a bunch of rare NDS games up for reserve. Stuff like Infinite Space, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, etc.. Most of these games are pretty rare and new copies can cost a lot online. I was looking through the list, not really planning to get anything, and spotted this and I just had to jump on it. The original was one of the first games I bought for my old DS and it was pretty great. It's another of those games that I just had to hold on to when I sold the system. It was one of the first DS games I looked for when I got my 3DS and I couldn't find a new copy for less than 90$. Getting it for the usual 40 bucks full price for handheld games feels like a goddamn steal by comparison.
  13. Who needs video games on Steam when we got this? It's a shame they're only rentals, though. I could've been tempted to grab some if they were purchases.
  14. Dark Souls III. Finished it a couple nights ago and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. In many ways, this is the real Dark Souls II. It feels like a true sequel to the original in ways Dark Souls II simply didn't. DSII was still a solid game but now it retroactively feels kind of random because of how much DSIII ties everything together so much better. Like, it almost makes DSII feel like it should've been its own new IP similar to Bloodborne. At the very least, I feel like people probably would've been kinder to it had it not been for the Dark Souls name. The only "issue" that comes to mind is that it felt short compared to the previous two games. It took me about 30h to beat whereas a first playthrough of the original was a solid 50h. I can't really call it a problem, though. The original had some pacing issues in its second half and DSIII pretty much avoids all of that stuff. 30h is still a pretty good length and I think might be the sweet spot for this series. Beyond that, I had no performance issues whatsoever on PC and no area or boss comes to mind as being particularly bad or anything, which can't be said for the first two games. I'll have to give it a few more playthroughs before I can rank it with 100% certainty but so far it's definitely at least a close second to the original. Possibly even the best out of all three. Can't wait to see what the DLC will be! Until then, NG+ should keep me busy. Still got some more achievements to get and a few more endings to see, as well. off topic: Is there any particular reason why the post box expands and scrolls horizontally now? Is that something I can turn off on my end? It makes longer posts kind of a pain in the ass to type.
  15. So, someone hacked the Atlus Japan website and for a little while it looked like the release date as well as confirmation of a PC version had leaked. I am pretty glad I woke up late today. It was already debunked by the time I heard about it, so I didn't have time to actually believe and get all my hopes and dreams crushed in one fell swoop.
  16. Nah, upgrading your weapon is the most important thing in Souls. While it might not deal the absolutely most optimal amount of damage, even your starting weapon can carry you through the entire game if properly upgraded. I'm still rocking a sword I found in the early game. You really don't need to "upgrade" to a different weapon if you don't want to. Mostly, just picking a weapon whose fighting style works for you is what's important. That's happened to me a few times. Some enemies are just pretty fast at jumping at you in this one, so you usually want to dodge at first to open them up rather than just rush in sword swinging. And I say that as someone whose playstyle is usually to try and kill enemies before they can react to my presence.
  17. HOLY SHIT! I just got to Mind. Blown. Seriously, I mean, although it definitely has major flaws, I always felt like Dark Souls II got a lot of undeserved shit. But goddamn it what the fuck was that piece of crap? This is the real Dark Souls II. Holy shit!
  18. So, looks like Hot Heart is finally going to get into the Souls series. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steamforged/dark-soulstm-the-board-game

Not while it's £82! (I've only just splurged a load on the ninja turtles KS)

Oh man, that is really tempting, and I haven't had anyone to play board games with in years. I'll have to do an offline solo run of that I guess... T_T

  19. The first AVGN game was surprisingly good. Definitely one of the best challenging platformers I've played, I had a blast with it. I meant to get the sequel at launch but didn't, for some reason. I should probably get around to that soonish...
  20. The reason FFVII and FFVIII have shitty controller support is because S-E just threw the old ports from the late 90s on Steam with little to no work done on them. It's not just the DS4, even my DS3 (which was a 360 controller as far as my PC could tell) didn't work all that well with it. FFIX is a brand new port, though. So, I'd expect it to be more in line with modern expectations from a PC port.
  21. Yeah, I was pretty bummed out when I looked up the current state of the series. There's some mobile game called Layton 7 that they're working on but it doesn't actually feature Professor Layton I don't think there's been any news about it in a while. With that and Fantasy Life 2 also being a mobile game, it looks like Level-5 might be moving away from the 3DS altogether.
  22. That's only if you're Square-Enix. Sega is a bit faster, Valkyria Chronicles only took 6 years!
  23. Well, at least you know for sure that's coming eventually. I'm still hoping for a PC version announcement...
  24. Since I know there's a few SMT fans on here, might as well post that Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final is coming west as Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse this summer. There was little doubt it would eventually come but this is much earlier than I expected. I really hope it won't be too close to Dragon Quest VII, making time for just one massive JRPG is already hard enough these days. So, I guess that means I need to finish Persona Q already so that I can get started on SMTIV...
