  1. That's only if you're Square-Enix. Sega is a bit faster, Valkyria Chronicles only took 6 years!
  2. Well, at least you know for sure that's coming eventually. I'm still hoping for a PC version announcement...
  3. Since I know there's a few SMT fans on here, might as well post that Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final is coming west as Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse this summer. There was little doubt it would eventually come but this is much earlier than I expected. I really hope it won't be too close to Dragon Quest VII, making time for just one massive JRPG is already hard enough these days. So, I guess that means I need to finish Persona Q already so that I can get started on SMTIV...
  4. Completely forgot these two were coming out for 3DS VC today! Super Metroid is a goddamn classic and I'm WAY overdue for a replay. And I was holding off on playing Link Between Worlds until now so that I could replay Link to the Past first. Gotta say, even though I really dislike buying digitally with Nintendo, I really love having those SNES games on my 3DS. This is the last batch of the initial announcement, though. Hopefully they announce more soon. Super Mario RPG would be another great one to have. edit: oh and I guess I forgot to post it but this came in today I played the first game back when I had my original DS and loved it. It was one of the few DS games I just couldn't bring myself to sell along with my DS since I knew I'd likely get a 3DS eventually and would regret not keeping them. This is the third game, though, so I still need the second one. But it was like 10 bucks brand new on ebay, so I couldn't resist.
  5. About fucking time. S-E was starting to run out of "early 2016".
  6. So, just a heads up, I started watching that launch trailer yesterday and quickly stopped it because it was starting to show stuff I didn't wanna see. But from what I just heard, apparently it shows pretty much every single boss area as well as parts of the ending cutscene?? I mean, wtf?? Are Bandai Namco fucking retarded or something?
  7. Yeah, prioritizing satellites is generally the way to go early on. This isn't entirely necessary but it's also not a bad idea since it's a pretty linear upgrade with no downsides. Again, not entirely necessary. But that's the thing about EU: as long as you can manage your panic levels, there's basically no penalty for ignoring the story missions. But here's the thing, I'd recommend doing the alien base soon because: 1) It's the first main story mission, it's not that hard and doesn't expect you to have end-game gear. Putting it off for that long really isn't necessary. 2) The game has this weird, backwards difficulty curve where it actually gets easier as you upgrade your stuff. The first few months are definitely the hardests out of the entire game. So, basically what you're doing here is extending the period where the game gets piss easy and it might end up making it kinda boring in the long run. Yeah, like I said, it's likely to only get easier going forward. You shouldn't have anything to worry about, as long as you play carefully.
  8. I can't stop playing Super Mario 3D Land! First, I beat the main worlds. Then I beat the special worlds. Then I found out I could get up to five stars on my save file so I went back and replayed the levels where I didn't land at the top of the flagpole. And now I started replaying all the levels as Luigi for the final star.
  9. Super Mario 3D Land. Holy shit, this game is great! I was initially planning on playing it slowly, a level or two here and there, without making it my main focus. But when my copy got here tuesday, I fired it up just to try it and ended up not playing anything else until I finished it. I really dug how the level design was a throwback to old-school 2D Mario without actually being a side-scroller. I haven't played a lot of modern Mario games but I thought this style was much better than the formula I was used to (Mario 64 and Sunshine, basically). Now I kinda want to play 3D World, though. At first I liked how short the levels were but now that it's over I really want to play something similar but on a bigger scale. I wonder if my cousin would let me borrow his Wii U... Oh well, at least I still have the Special worlds to work through. Think I'll hold off a bit on playing those, though. I'm on the last dungeon of Persona Q and I'd really like to finish it before Dark Souls III comes out.
  10. So, "trying out Super Mario 3D Land real quick" yesterday somehow turned into "play almost nonstop for two days straight". That game is fantastic! Anyway, so, I was looking at what other Mario games there are on 3DS and noticed there was a New Super Mario Bros. 2. I never got around to getting this one back when I owned an original DS, so I figured I might as well go back and start with it before getting the sequel. This was a used copy on eBay. I usually hate buying used (especially on the internet) but the new ones were all pretty overpriced and it's not like this is some rare, out-of-print Atlus game or anything like that. There was a picture of the actual item and it seemed to be in pretty good condition, so whatever.
  11. So, yesterday I was on Amazon and added all those games to my cart. When I got to the order review page, I saw the total price and kinda went "Eh... maybe not." I let them sit in the cart, meaning to come back later and decide which one(s) to remove. Then I came home drunk at 4AM and just sent the order through. Oh well... I haven't played a first-party Nintendo game in like a decade, so I'm really looking forward to playing a Mario and Zelda game again. The other two, well, they're SMT and you can never have too much SMT in your life. That being said, at this point I probably have enough of them to last me through the entire year (if I played nothing else), so I think I'm good for a little while.
  12. I imagine that having the people responsible for coming up with it spread across like 7 different timezones must make it pretty difficult to brainstorm a coherent overall narrative.
  13. Been looking forward to it ever since I saw the first trailer. Only put like half an hour into it and I can already tell this is going to be something special.
  14. Yeah, that's pretty normal. Unless you're losing more than 3-4 countries then you're not doing particularly bad. At what point in the campaign are you? Doing main story missions like the first alien base decreases panic globally, so it can help to time one of those to get the most out of that effect.
  15. Define fucking you over. If you're losing a country here and there, that's kinda normal. You shouldn't expect to keep them all on the council.
  16. What difficulty are you on? Normal without Ironman mode should be pretty easy unless you're playing like an idiot. Also, if you're getting your ass kicked and you end up losing, then technically you're within the canon and ready to move on to XCOM 2.
  17. Do I need to have played Legacy of the Void for these? The full mission pack is cheap enough for me to wanna get them but I don't want to spoil plot points from LotV or whatever.
  18. Was kind of obvious at this point but 2nd leak also confirmed fake.
  19. I'm not sure I buy that, power doesn't seem like something Nintendo prioritizes these days. Then again, if there's any truth to it and it's known within the industry, that could be why Sony and MS are looking into incremental hardware upgrades, I guess. Personally, I kinda hope the original rumor about NX being a console/handheld combo is true, with the handheld part being a proper 3DS successor that also fills the role of the Wii U's tablet. If the console component maintains BC with Wii and Wii U games and the handheld component maintains BC with DS and 3DS games, that would be a pretty strong selling point for me. Might be the first Nintendo console I buy since the N64. I'm probably setting the bar way too high with this, though.
  20. Grabbed a few things this week Ended up pulling the trigger on that Amazon marketplace copy. I've been playing a lot of Persona Q this past week and at some point I realized it's just not much of a Persona game. I'm still enjoying the hell out of it, though. Exploring these dungeons and mapping them out yourself is so satisfying and fun. So, I felt like I needed to get into the actual Etrian Odyssey series. Came out on the eShop for n3DS today. I've been meaning to play it for years, so it was a no-brainer. I really hope they end up bringing Earthbound Beginnings over as well. It's so fucking stupid to have a VC game being Wii U exclusive, especially given it's an NES game and there's already plenty of those on 3DS. So it's not like it was an emulation issue like with the SNES games. Also grabbed some dirt cheap bundle on IndieGala or something. There was some other crap in it but these three are the main ones I got it for. I've been curious about the Van Helsing games for a while, just not enough to actually buy them individually. 5 bucks for the lot was too good to pass up, though. And finally ...for some fucking reason. Steam implemented this new thing where you can get discounts on a bundle based on how many games in it you already own. I already had everything else in the bundle that went on sale a few days ago, so it was 5 bucks for this one. I haven't even played Borderlands 2 yet, total impulse purchase. I might have a problem...
  21. Japanese launch trailer. Oh man, that's looking pretty goddamn sick!
  22. The price inexplicably went up in a lot of regions today (to 80 bucks here) but it went back down just now. Not sure whether the initial increase was a mistake or if it going back down was but I'm not taking any chances, pre-ordered while it's back down to 60 bucks.
  23. Holy shit, yeah, back to the old price here as well. Wtf are they doing? I'm guessing it was a mistake or something? Now I'm really tempted to buy it right away, just in case. Thanks for mentioning it lol.
