  1. Days of Future Past. Really fun! Can someone explain the post credits ending to me?
  2. Sooooo I'm ready for a new Red Dead game. I know GTA V just came out, but its time to move on.

If it happens and it doesn't get a PC release, there will be blood. It'll be worst than me hunting down the Squashes.

I'd also love a new Red Dead, crazy to think that game came out four years ago...

In the meanwhile I'd settle for a PS4 version.

GTA V is practically confirmed to be having a PC/PS4/Xbone version coming out. So you'll be waiting a bit more.

  3. Feeling pretty down in the dumps, Twenty One Pilots seems to be capturing my mood right now.
  4. I haven't been paying attention to Godzilla, but I had no idea that it was going to be a monster vs monster movie. Looks good.
  5. Apparently its out today on Google Play, and "Coming Soon" on Amazon App Store. I love my kindle, but as soon as the Amazon video library is available on Android, I'm swapping over to a Nexus 7.
  6. I haven't read much of the books, so I have no idea how the series is heading, but the latest episode!! WOW!! Edit: protagonist changed to antagonist, because I'm bad at grammar

    Windows 8

I bought a new Windows 8 laptop. I don't love it. 8.1 fixed a lot of what I didn't like about the start screen (namely not being able to just see all apps without searching), but over all I actually kind of like the start screen. My biggest gripe is that I feel like I'm running two different operating systems when I use Windows 8, one metro and one desktop and occasionally go back and fourth. Being able to open metro apps in desktop mode has me most excited, because the apps themselves are pretty great, I just wish I didn't have to switch over to the screen to use them, then switch back to the desktop to use most other items on my computer and then switch back again for metro apps.

Srsly. Kind of expected it to be a main Win8 feature from get go. Shame about most other things in Mavericks, like losing the minimised apps in..Mission Control(I think name?)

yeah, when they have short and to the point articles, they are some of the best reads I have at work. Most of the time I skim them and compare them to other tech sites.

  8. I watched The Hungover Games, the unrated version. My buddies and I were drunk, and knew it would be bad, but we watched it anyways. It was terrible. Some jokes landed but overall it was dated references (they had a Borat reference in this movie) that would have been bad if it came out when the Hunger Games came out. The only redeeming factor was that two of the actors looked like two of the actors from the Hangover, and the gratuitous nudity. Some great boobies in that movie.
  9. I would put Amazing Spider-Man in the OK era too. I loved the Rami films, and was just kind of Ok with the Amazing Spider-man films. I argue that if the Rami films didn't exist, ASM would have been better received by myself and fans. Its actually a really fun movie, and does the comics (especially the Ultimate Spider-Man) justice. We just had already seen most of that story, and there were a lot of parallels between Connors in ASM as there were with Osborn in the first Rami film. It felt like a re-hash that we didn't need. I also didn't like the darker tone in the costume which they plan to change for the new film. The costume and posters made it seem like they were going to Dark Knight the series, but the movie wasn't super serious with dark undertones. ASM2 is now chasing the Marvel franchise with brighter colors and opening up a world with villains. ASM has always felt like it was chasing what was successful. Its still a good movie, we've just seen it all before, which made it less fun to actually watch. I hope that ASM2 can get me interested in seeing Spider-Man in theaters again. I'm a massive fan of the comic character and saw Spider-man 2 and Spider-man 3 all on opening night and barely cared to rent ASM when it was at redbox.
  10. Also, I look at what the Rift is: a fancy dual monitor that has motion tracking that you stick to your face. A prototype exists, and works with games currently, the final product is less than a year away. What CAN Facebook do to change that? Worst case scenario is that they force developers and users to use Facebook to activate the ability to use the Rift (nothing jail breaking can't fix), or worse launch their own game platform to compete with Steam. We already know that there are other VR headsets trying to do the same thing, and WILL capitalize that they don't need a Facebook account to develop for or use. It would suck if the first "good" VR headset is limited to a Facebook platform, but we all have to use Origin to play EA games and Uplay to use Ubisoft games, so in the end its just a fourth system that we boot through Steam, or we just use a competitors headset. I really only see this, at worst, a set back in VR, and at best Facebook having a proprietary platform to introduce VR to social media that can be used for a multitude of things. Honestly, my parents live 400 miles away from me, my Moms family half way across the US, my dad's family in the UK, I would love to use a Rift and sit down in a room with any body in my family and chat with a VR headset.
  11. Ok Infamous question, I've only played a small part of 1, but I noticed that Cole will die when he falls in water because he's electric powered. So how does Cole shower?
  12. Yeah, I didn't think of that. I'm curious as to how they are going to explain their powers. I have a feeling its going to come from the lore that Agents of SHIELD use, basically saying that its all part of the extremis experiment.
  13. Although I like the Avenger's version of Quicksilver more than the X-men version based off of pictures, he looks like hes just wearing a long sleve top with pants. May change in post production, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of a single running suit like in the Ultimates comic series. It just looks so functional for someone running really really fast.
  14. I was listening to a podcast last week (maybe you've heard of it, the GiantBombcast), and they talked about this very topic. The argument for not having skippable cutscenes is for a few reasons 1) they don't want you to miss out on 'important' parts of the story 2) people put a lot of work into it so they want it to be shown or 3) they don't want you to think its not worth your time. I disagree with all of them. I am in favor of skippable cutscenes, because I should be enjoying my game time not sitting there groaning as I tap every button on the controller through a cutscene.
  15. I cant figure out why they would make the sticks looser? I thought it was just me that felt that way.
  16. I hope so. I don't really see a reason as to why not, but I also don't see why they would not have that game run just old consoles instead of both old and new consoles.
  17. Hopefully both Unity and Comet come to the PC!
  18. I don't know about you folk, but I'm sure excited about the new Gauntlet game.

  19. I read the book, and thought the movie was a good summary of the book. I enjoyed it, but I had kind of felt that a lot of the impact and intensity would have been lost if you hadn't read the book. I made my girlfriend read the book, and she loved it. Then we watched the movie right after, and she hated the movie, saying they messed somethings up from the book. I think her complaints were identical to my complaints about the first Hunger Games movie, which I had just finished the book before I saw the movie.
  20. I just bought a new laptop, an Asus X550 like the one below. It's not fancy, and a major step down from my old laptop, but its pretty good. I really like the weight of the thing, plus the smaller screen. I've only got 4 gb or ram and an i3 at 1.8ghz vs my old i5 2.53 ghz with 6 gb of ram (my old HP pavilion). I bought it for $350 today, so I figured I was looking for an inexpensive laptop and this seemed to fit the bill. I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of Windows 8 just yet, but hopefully I get used to it and enjoy it.
  21. Is Ground Zeroes an open world game or is that just Phantom Pain? Clearly I'm not keeping up with the MGS franchise.
  22. I just watched Thor 2. I thought it was pretty great, but it suffers from the same issues that Iron Man 3 suffered from: Where are the rest of the Avengers? I don't care, I can accept the movies as they are without the Avengers all thrown together, but my girlfriend asked that question for both movies. Other than that, I really liked the whole Loki Thor dynamic in the movie, but I hope they don't rely on Loki to be the villain to carry the rest of the films from here on out.
  23. So I'm looking at replacing my laptop with one that isn't as big or as hot. Currently my laptop sits with the following specs: i5 m 460 @ 2.53 GHz 6.00 GB of ram some ATI Mobility HD shitty graphics card that was not worth the extra money I spent on it. Windows 7 I'm looking at something smaller, and now that I have an actual gaming desktop I don't really worry about power as much, but I do want the computer to turn on and feel snappy (hell this thing takes a while to load everything up when I restart it). I've priced out a sub $400 laptop with AMD A6-5345M Accelerated Processor 2.20GHz(2.80Ghz with AMD Turbo Core Technology) 1MB L2 Cache 6gb of ram And what every graphics card that comes with (not mentioned because its not really anything special) Windows 8.1 My question is, what is the comparison of processors? For stuff like outlook/gmail/movies/hulu am I going to feel like I'm downgrading? Is this PC going to feel equally as snappy using Windows 8.1 or is it going to feel slower? Im not particularly impressed with my current computers speed and with the recent random spurts of bluescreen I want to replace it, but I don't really feel like I have a need anymore and its more of a want.
  24. Depends on how optional it is, if I can't do any casting/archery without autolock then yes, otherwise I don't mind it, but every time a game does a lock on for combat it always pulls me out of the immersion. Its not a game breaker, but I just prefer to not use it.
