  1. I'm not sure which side of the argument you are referring to? Are you saying that Android is as complete as the Apple products or as disjointed as Microsoft? I've never had an Android device aside from my Kindle Fire (which isn't a good example of Android) so I wouldn't know. My understanding is that Android kind of leans more towards Apple with being able to open Chrome links from one device to the next or your hangouts being consistent. Its just not as robust yet as being able to answer your phone through your iPad, but it probably will be there soon. I do see Android in its own category because unlike Microsoft and Apple, there is no central computer hub for the devices. Sure you can use a Chromebook, but it would only serve to charge your phone.
  2. My biggest hope for Windows 9 is that Microsoft fixes the lack of continuity. Right now if you have a PC running Windows, there is no incentive to get a Windows tablet or a Windows Phone over an Android or an iOS device. If you have a Mac, you are better off with an iOS device just due to the communication between tablet, phone and computer. I tend to try to stay away from Macs because I just don't like the aesthetic of the OS (really a personal preference), but I have an iPhone, iPad and a Macbook Pro for work, and with Mavericks everything started to click together. I felt like I was using Apple as a service rather than a device manufacturer. Everything is transferable instantly as soon as they are near each other. I really really like how smooth it all works together. Microsoft has never really put any emphasis on this aspect perviously, but then again they never really had something to interconnect until around the time Windows 8 (actually Windows Phone 7, but lets just call that Windows Phone 8 beta) was introduced. Now with Windows 9, they will have RT which will essentially be a tablet OS with the start screen as your default screen, a phone and a Desktop OS. I would love to see windows use a messaging system similar to imessage that is not wrapped up in skype (which really sucks) but rather a better package. The Windows Mail app needs some improvement (more like a ton of improvement) and I want to feel that a windows branded tablet/phone would best compliment my PC rather than no phone really syncs up right with this package. But thats just me, and I've been extremely spoiled and tainted by all the free Apple stuff my work has thrown at me. I wish I liked Mac OS more to actually enjoy the computer more :/
  3. I haven't seen the show yet, but I've been real skeptical mostly because I imagine the show will have the prequel issue, where every character has a back story and becomes more deeply involved with Gotham and Bruce Wayne than they really should be. Batman's list of enemies should not have a massive influence in the show because a lot of them become who they are AFTER Batman is Batman. Smallville managed to make it work without making the universe feel smaller, but that hasn't convinced me that Gotham can do the same.
  4. Started to play Bioshock Infinite...... Holy cow this game has blown me away. I expected it to be good but not this good!
  5. Not sure if it belongs here, but I figured since our last "uber/lyft" suggestions I want to share a short story of how I was burned by Uber last night. I requested a ride, the guy couldn't find me and after I waited some time I looked at my phone and noticed it said I was currently in the ride. I cancelled and was notified of a $5 cancellation fee, fine what ever. I got home and saw that I was charged $10 for the ride, $5 for canceling and $5 for fare and taxes. I was upset but Uber refunded me the whole $10 instead of just the $5 fare ride. Cant really say it was a good experience, but Uber corrected itself pretty quickly (less than 5 min) but Lyft picked me up at and took me home so really no harm no foul.
  6. It was on sale like 8 dollars off or something last night.
  7. I haven't played much, but I did start a new character to try to get a feel for the changes. I will say that its all a pretty positive experience as a new player. I like the way it coaches you to your first and second heart and from there it lets you take the reigns. Still don't like the weapon skill changes (especially being locked to levels now) but its not the worst change that has happened to any game.
  8. All of this iphone talk makes me want to get a tablet. I won't, but I want some kind of new tech.

10 inch tablets seem too much. I loved the size of my Nook HD+.

I mostly use my N10 as a laptop replacement and to read comics, so it's perfect for those things. 7 inch tablets are in a weird position where they're too big for most mobile-designed stuff to look right, but you can't really use the desktop versions either.

  9. Well Amazon finally cracked http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/09/instant-video-android/?ncid=rss_truncated This is pretty good news for those like me wanting to jump over to an Android tablet.
  10. All my friends are either getting married or having kids right now, and I have no interest in any of that just yet. Its kind of depressing.

I'm one of those people who wants to get married and have kids, but just not anytime soon, but I realize I'm a few years from 30 and I'm a lot older than I think I am

A few years from 30 is totally cool. Totally cool. I know so many people who didn't do that shit till circa 40. Plenty of time, bub.

I'm surprised no one has made a gay joke. Then I realized I'm not on gameFAQs.

  11. I don't like the new weapon skills are just automatically unlocked... I mean you really are only unlocking 4 slots in the game now, and every time you got a new weapon it would give you something to do for a small amount of time. Every thing else looks great though
  12. Thats disappointing. I liked that butt. Also Your HIghness was one of those bad movies that I enjoyed.
  13. In SF Lyft is about 2 to 3 dollars cheaper per ride, which is actually pretty good, but Uber has better coverage in the area. I've had an overall better experience with Lyft drivers as well, they are friendlier. I just like to pull out both apps and see how quickly I can get a ride. In San Francisco Lyft is the better option, outside SF Uber has better coverage by far. Just all depends
  14. My brother drives for lyft. Its good, but not really different from Uber X (through the Uber app). That would be a pretty good service, but depending on where you live it could be a $12 minimum fare.
  15. My gaming computer crapped out. My brother accidentally shut off the power while the computer was shutting down. :( Wont boot back up. Hopefully its an easy OS reinstall

I figured it was the hard drive if it was during shutdown. RMA it if you can. Damage like that is typically covered if you're in the warranty period.

My warranty went up like a week before this happened. Unfortunate.

Ethan: I was told that the format was not compatible with windows (which made no sense) after googling how to format the drive and not being able to I just bought a new HDD

  16. I decided to buy into the beta of Elite: Dangerous.... sadly the processing is in the UK and both my credit cards don't like me buying something from them for some reason (kept getting denied and calls from fraud prevention). Bought it via Paypal check, which takes 3-5 business days!! I'm buying a digital product with digital money that is taken from my bank account immediately, but it takes 3 days to process it while it sits in Paypals bank?? Its dumb. Either way I bought that and a proper flight stick with a secondary throttle. I'm ready for my space flight sim games!
  17. I enjoyed GTA IV a lot, but V was leagues better. However the online in GTA V sucks. Want to go and cause chaos in true GTA fashion with your friends? Well don't get killed, use too many bullets, or get your car damaged cause you'll have to pay for it with your persistant GTA money. I like the MMO-izing games like GTA, but RDR's online was far superior to what GTA V tried to do. RDR had a good unlocking system and a feeling of how grand the world can be, and GTA V just made everything a monetary punishment. GTA IV's online was a good playground, which I prefer over GTA V. Although online car customizing is pretty cool
  18. I want a new Space Flight sim(ish) game now! Debating on prepurchasing Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous. What are you folks leaning towards?

  19. Saw Guardians of the Galaxy. I have to say I let the hype get the better of me and was expecting something to change the way I look at Marvel films. I would say its one of the top Marvel IMHO, but the hype just let me build up to be disappointed. After thinking about it for some time I realized that it is great, but after the movie ended I was still waiting for the movie to blow me away. I can't wait for the sequel, nor can I wait for the blu-ray so I can watch it over and over again.
  20. This ain't even a lie... Sometimes I do it next to old people to watch the younger people look in disgust! The person below me makes sculptures out of strangers ear wax!
  21. Yeah, it used to work, then they changed the Hangouts deal and are kind of segmenting everything. I guess I have to stick to regular gmail, which isn't terrible.
  22. Alrighty, I have a silly issue that I have no idea how to fix and my google fu isn't helping. I like desktop notifications from chrome for my personal email! Its great! I also really prefer the look of Gmail offline, because that is great! How do I get google notifications for Gmail Offline? Every time I google it I get useless information on how to set up google notifications for gmail, but never for gmail offline. I almost conceded to the fact that gmail will never be as good as I want it to be with my impossible standards. Can anyone help me?
  23. I have yet to see GotG, waiting for Saturday to see it with a few people (the wait is killing me), but I didn't think Iron Man 2 was all that bad. I really liked the action sequences, and the story wasn't the best put together, I still consider it better than a lot of other movies that have come out in the same super hero genre by some other studios. I just think that Marvel nailed down the formula to making successful movies and the answer is: Making GOOD movies. Its not enough to buy a property and say "See! We can do it too!" (I'm looking at you Sony!), you have to actually take the time to craft a story and develop characters and give the audience something they really want... A good movie.
