  1. I have been waiting for the 7.8 update, how do you force the update? Does it work on Samsung Focus (the original model)?
  2. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/expect-new-ouya-console-every-year/ They plan to follow the phone structure, update and release a new model each year. I don't think I like that idea, but it kind of makes sense to keep up with the android/iphone games that are released to play on the newest phones. Although it does make it less appealing to me.
  3. As someone who enjoys Will Smith's movies and time travel as a premise (no matter how poorly implemented it is). So I saw this movie in theaters. It was exactly how Mister Jack described it.
  4. Related to the PS2: In some countries, up until a few years ago, the PS2 was the best gaming machine they could buy. If you wanted a better one you would have to import the machine. Sony made that machine last 10 years, and good on them. I think the reason the PS3 didn't do so well out of the gate was partially because of the price, but because Sony phoned in the launch. Microsoft was just gaining momentum, Nintendo's Wii was met with a lot of skepticism by the gaming community, and Sony was the reigning champ two generations in a row. Microsoft came out a year earlier and spent a disgusting amount of money to get exclusives for their system, advertised it and got it in the hands of as many people as possible. The Xbox 360 is the epitome of how to launch a system. Sony seemed like they assumed people who chose the PS2 would just buy a PS3, they really did not put up much of a fight for almost a year. Not to mention that multiplatform games suffered terribly because of the new cell architecture. The 360 had more games, the games ran better, had more people playing, and cost less. The PS3 is a different beast today, but boy Sony kind of didn't know what to do with the competition running circles around them.
  5. Thats how I play my GameBoy games. 550% FPS! HOLD THE SPACE BAR DOWN FOR EVERYTHING (except getting in doors, thats hard)
  6. Oh No! Star Wars spinoffs! Disney is watering down the brand! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars#Other_films ... oh wait...

  7. I feel like I'm lost here on this whole Ciri thing. I haven't played the games but I only recall her character in Blood of the Elves. So far I've read The Last Wish and Blood of the Elves, was there a third novel released in English? I know Sapkowski wrote more that have not yet been translated. Is there a novel I'm missing? or are the events that involve Ciri in the games?
  8. Witcher 3 announced... It looks like I need to get to playing 1 and 2. I loved the books though.

    1. Waldorf and Statler
    2. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

And it will be open world, apparently. Sounds delightful.

  9. i enjoyed the super bowl even though my team lost. best part though? My chili was a hit!

I had chili with jalapeno cornbread that my friend made. It was kickass.

  10. Speaking of Lion King. Why was Scar's name Scar? He wasn't born with that scar was he?
  11. I don't live with cats anymore, had to move 400 miles away from home, so my cat lives with my parents. Every time I go home she sits on my lap and never leaves me alone. Shes also 16 years old, we had a cat that gave birth to a ton of kittens, and nobody wanted to adopt this one so we ended up keeping her. She was super loyal to me. Though I had another cat who was more loyal (and better behaved) than this cat before, who we sadly had to put down because she was sick. This cat jumped in and even though shes lost a lot of weight, has some tumor on her lip she just is healthy as can be. I give you the creatively named Patch I don't think my mom's dog wants to be that close to her, they don't get along. EDIT: my room is wayyy too messy. This was as I was packing up to move.
  12. The last pokemon game I owned was Saphire. I didn't care for it. There were only two pokemon that were added that I really liked: Wingull and Whalmer. Over all I was excited to see an attempt to recreate and start fresh with almost an entire list of new pokemon, but I didn't like it. I was severely disappointed to see that the day night cycle was removed from the game. Second Gen was my favorite, every new pokemon they added was as good (or better) than the first gen pokemon, and the world was so fresh and new, along with COLOR and breeding. It was just awesome.
  13. I had my first Lucid dream. It was brief, but absolutely amazing. Started off I was working this golf tournament for school/work, and this older lady couldn't park her BMW and wanted me to help her change. I told her that she didn't need to change and she was fine, but I'll help her park her car. I got in her car and put it in reverse, took my foot off the brake and the car smashed in to the car in front of us. This happened over and over, eventually I got embarrassed because it looked like I couldn't park the car infront of my peers. Eventually I realized I was dreaming and I said "fuck this, I'm going to take the car." And I drove off in the car completely in control with the old lady next to me. I looked at the old lady and said "you're no longer an old lady, your a young bikini model" turned away and then looked back and there she was, except her voice didn't change, so I made her sound way hotter. Before anything else could happen I woke up.
  14. I'm surprised at how negative people are about Call of Duty Black Ops 2 getting Twitch TV support for all platforms. I think this is an incredible step, allowing people to record their footage at no extra charge, and it should be welcomed and supported. I guess peoples hate for CoD means that they can't like anything that they do.

Agreed madbass. People aren't considering the fact that if it's showing up in CoD it has a chance of showing up elsewhere, too.

Alas, it is in the nature of haters to sustain a negative attitude.

  15. Since my recent move to the Northern California Bay Area, I have to be a 49er fan! Not a bad time to move, First the Giants, now possibly the 9ers. Still wont follow the Sharks, Earthquakes, or the Warriors, going to stick to my LA roots (and the Ducks)
  16. Oh my. Those are amazing renders too! Although I appreciate the maps and love to see something that great, I always prefer to see someone create something as good of their own imagination in minecraft. I don't know how World Painter works, but man that seems like a useful tool. On a side note, I've had my since August and I have not been able to play minecraft without it crashing. I have no reason as to why. My Computer setup is as below: i7-3770k processor @ 3.9 GHz Nvidia GTX 550TI 16 GB Ram I updated Java, but still it crashes and struggles to load the game even at the lowest quality (which it should run swimmingly at the highest). Any suggestions?
  17. As far as I know you go to the specific area and the event will just be there. Like a normal quest or something that leads a chain of events to follow. I could be wrong, I'll find out later tonight after I get home from work.
  18. As we all know, the Vice President of the US is saying we need to study the effects of violent video games. I think its a really interesting approach (not interesting as in good, as in a "I don't know how to feel" way). When I was younger I used to say "No violent video games DO NOT make one violent." As I got older I realized that maybe games like GTA weren't for 14 year old kids, and maybe we should start to really pay attention to the games our children were playing. I played GTA at the age of 14, and frankly nothing bad ever came out of it, aside from me sneaking play time when my parents weren't in my room. The issue I take is that we are talking about a government funded study on the effects of games. I think that the government taking a long hard look at the issues that may or may not have effects on national tragedies is a good thing. So I'm in a tricky spot where I agree with the motives but disagree with the spending. There are already many studies being performed, but how can you legitimize which study had motives and which did not? Why should we or should we not use the studies that have been performed before? I also am worried about the "what if" situation of "what if the studies prove that violent video games to cause violent tendencies?" What is the next step after that? Do we start to put up laws that limit sales to individuals? Do we start to censor games? Do we start to make an awareness campaign to notify the responsible party (mostly parents) of the effects and to monitor the games your kids play? Do we create a government controlled rating system? Or "what if the studies prove there is no connection between violence and violent video games?" Is there a plan to follow that up? Does the spending become moot? Not all outcomes are bad, but I would like to know how the government plans to continue to spend their money in this issue before they begin to spend it.
  19. New event starts today: Flame and Frost Prelude. Looking forward as I've missed out on all but the Xmas event so far. I'll probably be participating in this later today.
  20. I downloaded and played the demo. I thought it looked absolutely spectacular. Gameplay didn't capture me all that much (I also came home from a night of drinking so I might have to play again). I will buy this game down the line. I have no issue paying full price, it looks so good that I have no reservations for buying this game. I'm not buying it for two reasons right now: 1) the gameplay (as I mentioned earlier) didn't sell me on it and 2) I have way too many games to play before I can even consider buying a new game that doesn't scream "BUY ME NOW" to me. Honestly, its one of those games I will probably buy force my girlfriend (who loves Studio Ghibli) to play it while I watch.

    Help!

No status updates. When I went to the page on my work computer I wasn't logged in and everything looked good. Logged in and it changed into this. EDIT: It changed just as I went back to the home page. There is no empty bar for the status updates, the forums just stretch all the way across.
  23. I did try that no such luck, I'm willing to believe its the cable as I bought it on the cheap.
  24. Ok, so I have my new PC hooked up to my TV (720p vizio). Lately I noticed that I am starting to get horizontal lines scrolling up the TV periodically. I assume its my VGA cable that has gone bad, but my computer came with a DVI (?) to VGA kit, so it might be that little thing. At least I hope its that, and not a graphics card issue. Does any one know if I could be right?
