One thing we have to remember, its all about third party support, and looking at the previous actions of Activision, Ubisoft, and EA, they probably are leaning more towards DRM on consoles. If they chose to favor the Xbox over the PS4 because of its built in DRM then the Xbox could turn it around with better third party support.

What if I use the word "literally" figuratively? Then I guess I could use it in the way that is wrong and not be wrong.

I believe that X-men Days of Future Past is going to ret-con the X-men films with a touch of time travel. Mostly to make X-3 not happen.

Same. I am more than interested in purchasing an HD remake. I've been half tempted to buy on Steam anyways.

I've read about Machete Order, but not about why or anything as in depth as that article. I now want to watch Machete order, especially as the only DVD I don't have is Episode 1. I bought it on VHS as a 12 year old with my allowance.

Game of Thrones (Current episode spoilers)

Sorry, but people like that existed far before the term hipster was used for "anyone who isn't me that I don't like." But yeah... as someone who read the books that was still a hell of a scene. Not really happy about them killing off Jeyne though... especially if that's implying something about the books. Yea, I just was in a bad mood about the response people have. I do plan on going back and re-reading the first book and finishing up the stories, but I once they announced it was a TV show I decided to wait until after I've seen the show before I read it, cause usually the books are much better. As a side note, It may have seemed I hate people who read fantasy novels, and thats not the case, I love fantasy novels, but I was just mad at people acting like I was a dummy for not having read the books first -
Game of Thrones (Current episode spoilers)

Just finsihed the latest episode, haven't read this far in the books yet, and oh. my. goodness. That was just a twist! On a side note, people on my facebook feed are assholes for two reasons. 1) blatant spoilers and 2) those who've read the books think they are superior because they already know whats going to happen? I had someone comment on my friends status "I don't know why you were surprised, it was in the book!" No shit, but some people haven't read the books! Just because you read the books, comic books, movies, games before they were cool, doesn't mean everyone should have the same experience as you and doesn't make you better than anyone else. Fuck I hate assholes. Fucking fantasy story hipsters and their choices to have read the books! I've read many books before they were movies/shows/games and I'm not a dick about it because some people are being introduced to the fiction through new media! I'm in a bad mood, Bassman out -
That episode made me interested in watching more of Kitchen Nightmares. But I'll admit, I do like terrible reality shows sometimes, as long as its not a talent show (American Idol, Voice ect.) I really like the ones where pros come in and help clueless people try to fix their businesses, Tabatha's Salon is entertaining and Holmes on Homes is good.

AC3. My GF gave me amazon credit to digital download the game. She wanted to buy it for me but it seems that you can't gift digital downloads for games on Amazon, so she just gave me the credit for it.

What are you asking for? The devices are in many living rooms already, in my TV I can download ESPN Score Center, MLB TV, XOS College sports apps, NBC Sports, Skype, everything I previously listed, and much more. There are dozens of apps on Smart TVs that can compete with what the Xbox One has to offer. With my existing cable box I can already watch TV. With the Xbox One, I still need that cable box to plug into it. But as I said, the two things my TV can't do is play games and play disc based movies. And Xbox Live chat with my friends, but my iphone can do that. Edit: I also am not taking away from the Xbox One, that these shouldn't be included, or that they are bad, I am saying that the Xbox One should put more emphasis on the games and less on the apps that it will do. The apps the Xbox One can do won't sell anyone on the system, they are to push you from buying the Xbox One over the competition. Games will sell people on the system.
-
Whats to stop similar sports packages coming to my Smart TV? All that stuff can be added to my TV with a simple download service. What the Xbox One will do is nothing that my TV can't do, except play the big budget games. Sure it may not do it now, but as the Smart TV market grows, so will the demand to bring these services or similar services over to the Smart TV to add as an App.
-
The problem is my TV has Netflix right on the TV, Amazon Video, Vudu, Rhapsody, Pandora, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and some other services I've never even heard of (M-Go anyone?). Microsoft's goal of having a one box for everything is nearly moot because of Smart TVs. Soon your cable box will be replaced with a USB stick drive that you plug into your TV, or may be a web app on your TV. The only item you really need under your tv is a bluray player and a gaming system at this point, but even movies and games are trying to move to pure digital distribution. The Xbox needs to focus on games, because that will sell this new generation. Sony seemed to understand that in their press, and I'm sure Microsoft is aware, but they didn't show that.
-
Seeing people defend the Xbox Ones choice to be the ultimate media center and forgo games makes me laugh. I have this thing called a Smart TV, it does everything the Xbox One can do minus the games. I want games not another way to enjoy the media I already enjoy!

According to Engadget the wings are the same width as the current 360 controller, but shorter. So they look wider. We'll see what happens, but overall engadget said its roughly the same feel as the 360 controller but with better triggers, dpad and new location for the Xbox button. EDIT: Engadget Comparison to the 360 controller. Side by side the new one looks better. http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-controller-vs-xbox-360-controller-fight/?utm_medium=feed&utm_source=feedburner&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fengadget+%28Engadget%29

I'm in the same boat. Probably because I purchased a gaming computer 6 months ago, and most of the PC ports are now equally as good or better than their console equivalents. The new controller has me a bit excited, it looks good, and hopefully it works with the PC, otherwise there might be a problem down the line.

I love Star Wars, I have the movies dialogue almost memorized entirely. I can explain to people why things are a certain way in the films. I enjoyed Episode 2 and 3 (on their own merit of course), and I have a Darth Vader Prop lightsaber. I've read numerous books in the EU, and am part of the "Han shot first" fanbase. When I read that Disney bought the franchise, I looked at what they did with Marvel and though "oh this could be good or bad." I took the wait and see method. When they announced episode 7-9 I thought "Oh no, we don't need more movies. Maybe this will be good?" When they said Lucas was going to give up the entire creative rights to Disney I thought "Ok, this sounds like it could be interesting." Then when they announced JJ Abrams to be the writer/director of VII, I checked out. Abrams has done some great work, and Star Trek is just amazing, so why am I so resistant to him directing Star Wars? Because he did such a good job with Star Trek. He has his space opera, and to put him to work on another one will just make both start to feel similar, and eventually bland. Abrams stated that he used Star Wars to help make the atmosphere of the new Star Trek movies feel more action-y. He already Star Warsified Star Trek, so now the gap between the two is even smaller. I'd like to get someone fresh in Star Wars, someone who is capable of creating this kind of fantasy sci fi series, make it feel new and unique without dropping what made it great, because having Abrams direct it is going to make people think of Star Trek in some way. Honestly I would love to see Abrams direct a re-imagining of the original trilogy, but we all wont see that happen. I want to see what the Original Star Wars script was played out as, with the amazing concept art and this adventure to find the space cristal. Abrams could do wonders with that, create his own unique feel and no one would mind. I still love the franchise, but for the amount of time I've spent thinking, reading and watching the series, I am surprised in my lack of enthusiasm for the new revival of the series.

I gave it a shot today. http://www.geoguessr.com?v=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%3D%3D I used the street signs and vehicles to figure out where I was. Not really traveled very much but if I saw signs that looked familiar I could guess what country/continent they were in. Luckily most were near the on the west coast of America, which is near where I live and could spot those deserts and forests almost anywhere.

But you see, that right there is the problem. People look at that and don't know that there is a desktop option. They believe that to be the desktop, so why would they look for the button that says desktop? The first thing they ask? "How do I get to the Google?" "How do I look at my pictures?" "How do I read my email?" These are the people that are struggling with the change. You, FDS, researched it, looked at the new options, looked at what you can do with the new Windows. You knew what you were getting into because you are someone who cares about this stuff. Most people, believe it or not, don't care. Most people want to turn on their computer and see nothing different. Most people looked at 7 and thought that the new icons on the task bar were bigger and that was it. Most people don't know that there is an option to customize how you use the computer. You can blame a lack of consumer research, but these people are saying "oh I just need a new windows computer" not knowing that it has changed. Open it up and "What is this?" That's not the consumers fault for not knowing the changes. Microsoft didn't make a change that evolved into 8, it just became 8. I can tell you that if they booted to the desktop, kept the windows logo where the start button was that booted to the start screen, people wouldn't hate the change nearly as much. That is more familiar than what exists now. Its not about how it works to a lot of people, its about how they can understand it to work Though I doubt you will see any problem though, because you get it so why can't everybody else?

If you have the bluray of Avengers, give the Item 47 short a shot. I think thats what the show is going to play out like. Its a short that takes place after the New York attacks, and is a small case which SHIELD investigates.

The power was under the start button since they've had the Start button. I'm not saying its hard to adjust, but to change something as small as that is pointless. To say that its not that difficult for you, someone who is computer savvy to use, is fine. I would have no problem adjusting either, but we are not in the majority. We are not the people who have a problem adjusting to new tech. The majority of people don't know everything there is to a computer, they don't know what a GPU is or what RAM does. These are the people who are going to pick up Windows 8 and be confused from the start. They will have to call someone to help them out. Windows has been the primary OS used in households for a long time. Even Mac OS you click the apple logo to turn off your computer. Windows was the same until the most recent OS. Windows 8 was a complete missed target. There is overwhelming negative feedback because people don't feel like the new set up makes sense. They've been doing the same thing for 15+ years and these people now need someone to show them how to turn off their computer again. "Its no big deal, and not that hard to adjust to." Thats a strawman argument, and really its a very selfish point of view. I know people who had no idea they could even go to a desktop mode on their computer. Windows didn't market it properly, they didn't allow for proper transition, and they moved things (like the ability to turn off your computer) to an unnecessary, never existed before, menu. Not to mention when you turn on the computer it looks nothing like what you've seen before. AND all this is coming from someone who really likes what Microsoft has been trying to do with the "Metro" style. I like Windows 8 and I wish it was received better, but I'm not blinded by my interest in the OS to ignore any of the faults the system. Its not broken, its just not intuitive nor follows the designs that people have followed since 95. Look at what Mac OS did with the Launchpad. Its the same concept, a transition of new interface that can transfer from touch screen to keyboard and mouse easily. Launch pad replaced the applications folder on the dock and is required to use, The difference? Its not the main interface, and everything you've done one a previous version of Mac OS works here too. Thats how 8 should have introduced the new Start screen. A windows button in the bottom corner, launch to desktop, click the button and boom start screen. A power icon at the top left of the screen, something that could be seen instantly. All of a sudden, you have a windows that people are familiar with, but new and different, people that use their computer can adjust easier, because it looks familiar and new.

I've said it before but widows 8 fundamentally changed some functions. Why can't the charms menu be part of the start screen? That would make more sense because that's where it's been for the last 20 years. You cannot give a windows 8 computer to anyone who has used 7 or prior for the last 20 years and expect them to know how to use the new functions or shortcuts without a tutorial. That, in my opinion is where windows 8 made a mistake. I do like the interface on it though, but I haven't used 8 for more than playing around with other computers. I'm all for creating a new interface with computers. Anyhow it sounds like Microsoft is learning their lesson and making a few changes to 8.1 or "blue" due to the overwhelming negative feedback

I couldn't agree more, but I've always felt that SHIELD was neat because it wasn't one anti-hero, but a shady government program that coerces super-heroes into working for their program.
-
I like the idea of SHIELD operating in the gray areas, doing something for the bigger picture which makes some of the smaller operations they do appear to be questionable. I like the idea that SHIELD are not the good guys, but rather the guys who will do anything to protect the security of the planet/UN.

http://www.wearetherisingtide.com/blog/ Neat little viral marketing. I hope the show focuses more on this kind of stuff. An X-files vibe but with super heroes. I would love to see some Bond-like spy action thrown in there too.

I just re-watch the Avengers this last week.
