  1. This is my problem with the update. My Xbox is a gaming machine first and foremost. The first thing I should see is the option to play a game. The PS3 has a great way of doing this. You turn on the system and it goes to the "Whats new section" starting with games you recently played, and then slowly scrolls down to the ads. I understand that they want to show you what to spend money on so you can spend money in their shops, but the first thing I want to see is the function to play games. Honestly if the little square was a moving ad, it probably would catch my attention more than the big one in the center which I always automatically ignore.
  2. I personally don't mind the ads all that much. I'm all for ads in loading screens IF they can make the game cheaper for me to purchase. If there is no benefit to the ads, and they are like in driving games where they are brands to put on your car, or billboards or really anything then thats fine too. Once they become intrusive is when I will get irritated, but that hasn't happened yet. Like I said, the market place square should be the game's square. The main focus of my Xbox is to play games, and that should be the first thing I see when I boot it up. As far as having only idiots on Xbox live, that is generalization that holds no grounds nor any proof to back it up. I could say the same about PC gamers or PS3 gamers, but I don't. I have a PS3 as well, I prefer my Xbox because Live is almost 100% of what an online service on consoles should be, the PSN is not as close. PSN is great, and before I had Xbox Live, I thought it was equal in quality, but after a year on Xbox Live, I have started to sing a different tune. Saying the only reason we stay on the Xbox is because we cannot afford the other options is purely ignorant, and a mighty large assumption. I had the PS3 first, had a gaming PC which broke and realized that I didn't need to replace it because I was content with my PS3/Xbox.
  3. I seriously lol'd to this part. Killing Faendal because he keeps visiting her was the best part! Faendal and I just hang out and hunt together when I'm in the mood to upgrade my smithing. I don't like the look of ebony armor, nor dwarven armor, nor Dragon Bone Armor, nor Orcish Armor. Infact the only armor I like is the steel armor. So my goal is to upgrade my steel armor so its better than the Ebony armor I'm working right now. Is this a silly idea? Probably, but I'm playing in 3rd person, hadn't upgraded any armor (forgot you could do that) and have no real intention on putting perks into my smithing beyond the steel perk and enhancing enchanted armor/weapons.

I had a meet and greet last night with a bunch of companies, and I feel like I did just fine during that portion, but now I'm doing follow up emails and I just struggle with making it feel natural.

I love to help. Sometimes feel like a burden and a know-it-all, but I see the same struggles in people that we all go through in life. Having been there, it's a tough place to be.

  5. I read that to fix the ps3 slowdown issues you have to delete the game data. Not the saved games, its got its own category. Its worth a shot I guess.
  6. I've use it for about a month. I also LOVE the metro UI, so I was more than excited to try this out. I'm disappointing that the main box is an ad and not the game in the disk tray. The switching of the X and Y buttons didn't bother me all that much because I would always press Y to eject because I was used to pressing triangle on the PS3, so this was more natural to me. Still stupid that they did it though. I'm overall less than enthusiastic about this update, everything has been made smaller, but it looks good. Metro is great functionality and style working together, but this doesn't feel like Metro, it feels like a half assed wanna be Metro. Overall, its not as good as the last one, but I can't help but like it because of the Metro look... plus the Xbox Companion app on my phone .
  7. I have a focus. As far as computing power the 4s blows mine out of the water, but the OS is very fast on the WP7
  8. I would recommend the OS to anybody who doesn't want the complexity that comes with the freedom of Android. It looks great and it is incredibly fast. My brother just got an iPhone 4s and we compared speeds and this phone is about equal, if not slightly faster on some functions. I love it, a few flaws, well one really, is lack of app support. If it ever gets a bigger piece of the pie then that will change, but as of now its OK. Expandable memory is included, which is nice, but I've read that to install you have to reboot your phone to factory settings, which seems like a pain in the ass. I just picked up Survivalcraft for $2.49 as my friend picked up minecraft for Android at the same time, this game is further along than Minecraft pocket, but its almost the same thing. Worth checking out. FDS Mango is what WP7 should have launched at, its really great.
  9. I am still on my first character. I refuse to start a second character at the moment, because once I go down that path I just start making more and more alts (Hi, my name is MBM and I'm an Altoholic). I struggle to find any ore for my character as well, and I really just learned the benefits of smithing in the game. I do know I'm going to make a cat wizard for my next character . I've been thinking about it, but and have been fighting the urge to create a new character. I also want to make a thief character. I really like my character but hes wearing a full Orc armor set and I play in third person, so I find the armor very unpleasant to look at. Funny, when I got my first pair of Dwarven armor this happened:
  10. For some strange reason I thought Gotham City Imposters was the multiplayer that was going to be included in Batman Arkham City.

      Hot Heart

Lol. That would be shocking. It might sound wrong, but I would love to see Rocksteady take a pop at co-op in the next Batman game. It has the potential to be amazing.

  11. Dean: Thanks! I was freaking out about it being 50, because I was just not going to have enough to fill up everything!
  12. is there a hard cap on earning perks? I heard it was lvl 50 for perks, but is this true or can you still earn perks beyond 50?
  13. So after finishing up a simple quest that took me almost 4 hours to complete (I don't use fast travel, which means I find mines and get easily distracted) I decided to save my game and terrorize Whiterun! I morphed into a werewolf and just began the slaughter. My follower, Roggi Knot-beard, and I started taking the guard out first. That is until I did something to piss off Roggi and had to kill him too. Lydia came out of my house and began the attack against me, I was heart broken. After killing all the possible NPC's I could I found that a 2 older NPCs could not be killed, and of course the annoying children (I was sad I couldn't even Fus Roh Dah them). I ran around a bit in my underwear while the people attacking me were shouting "You'll catch a cold, put something on!" until the funniest thing in a game EVER happened to me. Three companions came running out of the building and I readied my self for a worthy fight, but instead of attacking me, they cornered a child and started to whack her with their swords, taunting her! I remember Vilkas saying "come on and fight me you coward!" while the child stuck in a corner in the fetal position yelling "Why are they fighting?" and being attacked for literally five minutes. I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard. The companions then gave up on the child and began attacking the invincible old woman, who would bow out when she was defeated and stand up again after resting. The scene was very funny as well, with three companions hacking at this old woman until she collapsed, calmly walk away and as soon as she stood up again turned around and began their attack all over again. This probably could have gone on forever, but it was midnight and I had work in the morning so I turned off my console, still laughing from the barbarism I watched from the companions. They aren't lying when they tell you they will defend you no matter what!
  14. going to try to re-jump into the twittersphere, we'll see how long my attention span lasts with this one. @N_Dix_

  15. Oh yea, and it a very cool idea. We aren't there just yet, but soon we will be. Thats part of the idea behind windows 8... but that is for the windows 8 topic. As far as the Vita is concerned, the memory cards are fairly expensive, and maybe over priced, but at 250 for a base model PS Vita its hard to argue with that price.
  16. If you guys aren't sick of skyrim posts yet, check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4z9TdDCWN7g

  17. Personally, I think the Vita, even with the card prices, is still a decent deal. I just have personal issues with it solely being a portable. I don't do a lot of portable gaming, so for me its not entirely a good buy. I love the concept of portable gaming, but I would rarely use it outside of traveling, which I don't do as much, and at home I'd rather play one of my consoles. Will the PS Vita be playable with a DS3 on a TV? If so, then you may find me buying one. I'm already on the fence, but I look at my PSP and even though I have games on it that I like, I just don't play it. I always had this idea of expandable memory/cpu/everything needed for gaming. A device that is as powerful as home consoles (PS Vita is almost there) that you can plug into your TV and use as the console itself. When plugged in the system has more memory and CPU/GPU available to it, so the games are visually and technically stunning. When you want it on the go, you pull it out of its "Dock" and you have a full blown portable that can play all your games on the go, just with less power making it a gimped version, but still very playable. The PS Vita seems to be the tipping point to me on this idea. To me, tahts the future of gaming
  18. That's basically how I've been going about it but it still seems a lot slower than the smithing to level up in. Ah well, I'm half-way there! I may start going through some of the main quests though. I'm nearly level 40 and havne't got even a third of the main quest done. I'm almost lvl 30 and have only done 3 parts of the main quest line XD. I am avoiding it because I don't want the game to end just yet!
  19. Honestly, you think a class 2 SD card will be able to play Vita games? ^ this. If it's a PS Vita specific card then Sony have complete control over the specifications and its speed. Whereas if you make it SD based then folks will skimp and pick up dirt cheap cards and complain when the performance is shit. Which is why Apple mobile products don't have expandable memory and is one of the reasons (once you get past the whole part about them making shitoads of money) why Sony is using their own cards. Microsoft does the same with the 360 hard drives. Thats the reason you have to have a hard drive to play Reach on co-op. They could remedy this by saying "you must use a class 10 SD card" but they chose not to.
  20. I hate finals time, especially when I have been aching to play skyrim for two weeks with no time :( Luckily this is my last semester!

Do things to speed up your time: No clothes that need ironing (hang up right out of dryer). Bread, ham, apples, and dried fruits in the fridge at all times for most meals. Do all your shopping once a week. Rice cooker. Stock up on energy drinks. Never feed your gremlin after midnight. Dump girlfriend and get many girlfriends (text, never call). Don't get married. Wake up by 7 every morning.

My finals start next friday so I still have a good week and 2 days before I start heavy studying. And even then I only have two official finals. The others are either projects, or simply a non-cumulative third exam.

  21. Just got back from a 9 day trip to England. My extended family lives on a farm up north and has very limited internet access. It was no big deal going 9 days without internet, but when I got back my google reader had 1000+ updates. I didn't want to read them all, what were the best things I missed from friday last week to today?

  22. Does equipping your follower's with better armor and weapons even matter? I can't really tell, and if not, I'm selling Lydia's dwarven armor!
  23. How can I get my hands on the skyrim soundtrack? is that something I can buy?

Thats what I thought when I saw the price. I am more than willing to pay $15 for it, but for $30, I'll just leave my xbox on the main menu while I want to listen to it :P

ooh, that might be what I want, I'll look in there! I would love to buy it and support them, but honestly $30 I cannot justify :)

  24. I'm reading Blood of Elves, the 2nd Wither book (in the States), its pretty good. My Skyrim adventures have me looking for more fantasy novels, are the elder scrolls novels any good?
  25. During my stay in Morthal, I met a rather aggressive Nord, who challenged me to a fist fight. After I beat him, he decided that I was "all right" and came along with me on my adventures. His name was Benor, and we traveled far and wide together. (I don't use the fast travel because I think it made oblivion feel small when I did, so out of principle I won't use it in this game). We even slayed a dragon together. Every time you saw Tenious (my imperial) on the trails, Benor was sure to be near. After a month (ingame time) of adventures together, we came across a few men dawned in elvish armor on our trails. I approached them to find out more about who they were and what they were doing. Turns out they belonged to a cult, of whose name I cannot remember, and they asked if I worshiped Talos. I told them that I did, and their response was in steel. The leader, a mage, began to attack me, and his followers did the same. Benor, without hesitation went right after the mage, I took out the two armored guards. To my surprise the Mage was still alive and attacking me, I figured Benor must have bowed out to recover, so I planted my Axe of Whiterun into the Mage's neck, ending the fight. I ran to help Benor up with my healing hands, and found him lying lifeless on the ground. The mage set him on fire, not giving Benor a chance to recover. I mourned his death, placed his body between two rocks, grabbed his hammer and placed it across his chest. I dropped a purple, blue and red mountain flower on his body so he may rest in peace. After about a week (ingame time) I came across more of these cult followers, this time with a prisoner. I decided to do right by Benor and equipped the prisoner with my Orcish fine sword and we fought for his freedom. The prisoner died in his attempt to escape, because he didn't use my sword, but I'm sure he would rather die for freedom than live a prisoner because of his beliefs.
