  1. Agreed, even though I preferred BF2 more, this one was by far the best put together game.
  2. After speaking to the Jarl of Morthal, I stepped outside to hear the shouts of the people. Guards had their bows raised to the sky, shouting something about a dragon. I took a step back, looked up, and above me was the beast, breathing fire upon the city. As I started to run to aid the guards, I noticed something else above the distant mountains behind the dragon. A second dragon circling on high reigning terror upon the mountain top. I was quick to take down the nearest dragon, but couldn't make the trek to the mountains to take out the dragon in the distance. I went back in town to "check" on the corpses of some of the towns folk. Some survived, others were not so lucky
  3. My character's name is Tenious, and imperial warrior. He seems to have taken a liking to archery and two handed weapons, along with spreading rumors around Riverwood (Sven and Camille are not happy at the moment). A hunter in the wilderness, but a lover of the arts. It seems there is a reward for a bandit leader not to far from Whiterun, so Tenious will be searching for that bandit leader soon. First it seems he has to deal with an immediate emergency in Whiterun that he must help with.
  4. I'm just glad to see beards in the game. Beards in oblivion were more like makeup than beards.
  5. Ah, I've heard that before. I'm sorry, it seems my last maybe 15 posts or so on the entire forum has made me seem less thoughtful. I should spend more time researching before I say anything. Still the Metro theme is almost a guarantee for the NeXtbox (ooh see what I did there? I think that has redeemed me!)
  6. Ah, I, for some reason, thought Euphoria was a physics engine as well. I guess I was wrong. The thing with Havok is its used in so many different games where I have a hard time figuring out how raw the engine is in Oblivion/Fallout3+/New Vegas/Skyrim. In fact just wikipedia has a HUGE list of games that use Havok Like I said, the animations don't bother me all that much, but I do notice them.
  7. Well It seems that developers have learned on the PS3, and there were always companies that excelled on the PS3 (Naughty Dog) but Multi-platform games tend to run better on the Xbox than they do on the PS3. Its less and less these days, but that maybe due to the fact that the Xbox uses Direct X to run which has been known and used for a long time now. If it is no problem to program for, then I am wrong in assuming it could be a potentially bad move. Honestly the PS3 has produced my favorite games this generation (the Uncharted series headlining), so if what was learned from that system can be incorporated into the next Xbox, then we can have a spectacular system. I just hope its affordable.
  8. I made a comment on Kotaku about how the scene where the dragon picks up and drops the giant was laughably bad. It's not going to stop me from playing the game, but it just goes limp when it falls. People said "Well given what is in the game its excusable" to which I have to agree, but it doesn't make it look less bad. I can forgive the game for not looking like Gears of War 3, or Uncharted 3, but that doesn't mean I have to ignore its flaws. Honestly a little animation for falling goes a long way (Look at Read Dead Redemption and GTA) but I know its a lot of work for a game like this, so I can look past it. I'm going to enjoy this game so much, just as I did Oblivion, but I will also acknowledge the flaws in the game, just as I did Oblivion, and take the game for what it is: A place to escape to when I want to. To me the magic isn't in the graphics (but I still think they look very good), but in the world they crafted.
  9. So, watching some gameplay and watching the creator I have to say I feel bad if I chose Imperial as the game allows you to play and try so many different races. I enjoy the idea of playing as another race, but when I play something like this for some reason I want to try to project myself into the game through the avatar. When I play MMOs or any other game I usually don't worry too much about the avatar, but with Elder Scrolls I just struggle to do anything but. I tried out Breton in Oblivion and enjoyed it, and even a wood elf, but my main character was an Imperial. I also wouldn't mind being a Nord as I have a fairly large body build, plus I like Vikings and the Nords remind me of Vikings. I want to be the stoic hardened Viking, but I feel like the game is pushing me to be a Nord and that puts me off. Strange? Yes very much, but I can't help it. The only race that I would never question is if they had a Frog race, like the Frogloks of Everquest or the Hylek of Guild Wars 2. Frogs are badass. Frog people? Doubly so. Also, should we post our Skyrim adventures in this thread or should we make a second thread just for describing our adventures (with spoiler tags of course). I think a lot of the fun of the games are talking about what happened to you during your own journey in the world, and this one seems to make each journey more unique for each player.
  10. I like the idea of multi-cores, it would make a neat system, but like the PS3 today, programming for it, I assume, wont be as easy as it is with the current Xbox and most modern computers. I could very well be wrong, as I have never really done any programming, but that always seems to be the excuse dev's use for the PS3 at the moment
  11. You would end up with people like me, who would yell stuff like "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" or do what I do with my Siri like function on my phone, which is "Text someone bitch" or "search for cookies, bitch". I like to be little my technology when talking to it, and I also like to hear my self speak.
  12. Frankly I really like the idea of saying some words to make magic. It'll make me feel more gandalf-y. I wasn't sold on why it was different from normal magic, but Jesus seemed to clear it up. Thank Jesus.
  13. Wasn't really a fan myself. I don't understand the difference between these and magic. Still the effects that they have are really neat. I just look at it as an extension on magic.
  14. I think I'm going Nord, but I feel like the game urges you to go Nord, so I feel like I should not be Nord. Oh well, I'll probably end up be Imperial, but still enjoy it no matter what.
  15. This was on Joystiq today http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/09/rumor-next-xbox-to-be-windows-powered-going-apple-route/ As far as having Windows 9, I say not likely. The different cores for different processes sounds like a neat idea, but will ruin the main reason why the Xbox is as successful as it is today with games, which is being a nearly identical inside as a modern computer. The integration between Windows Phone 7, Windows 8 and the next Xbox is almost a "DUH" statement. In a matter of weeks the Xbox dashboard is going to look like Windows 8 with their metro design, Windows Phone 7 is going to have an integration with the Xbox with remote control, and the 360 already has integration with a Windows 7 PC. By the end of the 360's life span, it will be entirely integrated with the windows phone 7 and Windows on your PC
  16. I thought today was the 10th, meaning tomorrow would be the 11th... needless to say, I am disappointed that I have to wait an extra day for Skyrim. Shame on me.

Man, I hate it when I think Wednesday is Thursday even when there's not a major game coming out.

I didn't even think it was Thursday, I thought the game came out on Thursday and was so excited. Mixing up dates is the worst!

Today I built a PC, so that passed the time. Tomorrow I complete Oblivion.

  17. I may have spoken too soon about the cost to create a digital shirt, there is a lot of money creating the initial digital item, but my point of once its created it no longer costs anything extra to sell one or sell one thousand is still valid. My point was that the profit margin increases with each and every sell of the same item. Not to mention reskins, that use the same frame and model for the t-shirt. Yes there are people who enjoy Home, and I don't absolutely dislike it, but it is not for me. My problem with home is the fact that it COULD have been so much more. As it is (before the revamp) it's not my cup of tea. I haven't had time to jump in to try out the new home, but I am interested because of the more interactivity involved in it.
  18. OK wow, couple of things, 1) just because we are on a gaming forum does not make us un-social. You may only speak for yourself, but I am willing to bet that many of the members to this forum live very social lives. To assume such a thing means that you think little of the community you have been... socializing with. 2) profitable does not mean good. Farmville is one of the most profitable games, does that make it good? To each his own, but I also will say that Sony didn't revamp Home to keep the people who were already enjoying it, but to attract people who have no interest in it. You don't change something that does well (Look at the CoD series), you change something that is not doing well to attract new customers. Of course Home is going to be profitable, GAP pays to put their ads in the game, their virtual clothing in the game, so does every other non-Sony brand. Sony makes money off of their sales, and off of them just being there, whether or not they sell something. Do you know how much it costs to produce a digital shirt? Next to nothing. There are no tangible goods being sold, just a digital shirt that you wear. They can produce millions of shirts by the press of a button, no material was used to create those shirts, only one person made the shirts, so the cost of labor and materials are very minimal. This is why social games such as Second Life do so well, because the goods being sold for $200 dollars cost roughly $5 to make once and can sell an unlimited number. The profit margin on a $200 item that costs $5 to make is $195, when you sell two the profit becomes $197.5 per item. For 3 the profit becomes $198.67, and so on and so fourth. Profit grows with each sale. My point is, profit means nothing to the success when selling digital clothing, and Home will always be profitable as long as 1 person buys something.
  19. BF3's single player is one of the worst. It doesn't tell you what you need to do, unless its follow a dude. Enemies pop up from where you just came from and kill you from behind, and oh yea, they are magical and can always know where you are at all times.

Also, fail the QTE with the rat just for fun. It's amazing.

In the RPS comments some dude said there was a QTE with a dude who's about to shoot you. Fail the QTE and he shoots, press the button on time and the same exact gun is out of bullets.

Yes, the playable character disintegrates the bullets through sheer psychic powers.

How more awesome would have the game been if the main character was psychic and could see into the future where he would be killed and you'd have to sneak around not getting hit. Or fuck it, just copy COD and throw in some QTEs.

  20. I'm on console side. USB keyboard eliminates my typing issues!
  21. It has a bunch of great features. Combat is fun, team play (when it works) is great, and the story is really engaging. Character creation is lacking a lot compared to other games in the genre, or in most genres these days, but it's not bad. Overall, for the price of free, a very good game
  22. As a GTA fanboy, I'll end up getting this, even if its more of the same of what GTA IV was. I had issues with the story, but enjoyed the more serious tone they went with the gameplay. In the end I plugged away a lot of time in that game, way worth the $60 I spent on it. EDIT: Watched it again, totally awesome and exciting. Semi trucks with trailers make a come-back, looks like they have an Audi R8 in it, a Bentley continental, and the Mesa (the Jeep) makes a comeback. I'm still waiting for a retro-style modern Stallion, but since they changed it from a mustang/cougar look alike to a more Oldsmobile cutlass style that may not be in the cards. I'm expecting a lot more exotic cars in this one As a car buff, I love the GTA series for its cars!
  23. I thought that you may end up with a quest that is identical as someone else, but given by a different NPC. Maybe they are procedurally generated though. I would say that, by chance someone gets a near identical quest, you wouldn't want to spoil the ending. I guess to play it safe, just spoiler tag all of your quests, just incase someone some how ends up with the same quest as you. Plus being that not all quests are procedurally generated, some side quests are specific to NPCs and play out a specific way that I wouldn't know what was exclusive to my game, or some standard side quest
  24. I personally think Home looks too boring, I wish they made it like the xbox avatar style.
  25. Disclaimer: If this forum topic already exists, I'm sorry I searched for it, but my work internet is uncooperative. I've spent maybe a total of 2 hours in home since it opened. The most fun was that odd racing thing... dust or something and the resistance shooting thing. They lasted about 5 minutes for me then I got bored. ANYHOW it seems they are revamping it and it looks much better now, check the link below! http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/01/video-welcome-to-your-new-playstation-home/
