  1. DiRT 3 is actually a really fantastic game. It's been a long time since I've properly played and enjoyed a racing game, but Dirt may top the old Need For Speeds and Test Drive Unlimited 1 as one of my favorites.

Good feeling on it too. I just wish I have a wheel to play it.

If you've got an Xbox controller, it makes a world of difference.

I felt Dirt 3 was Dirt 2 broken into piecemeal. Every second race is like "Buy me!". It's like the devs forgot how people like subtlety and DLC to go together.

  2. That sounds like a very good question. One definitely worth asking them. That's something I'm wondering too. I picked up ME1 and 2 on Steam in a recent sale in order to get a PC save for ME3, and I might be a little peeved if that save can't cross over to ME3. Enough to not buy ME3, for sure. Although, if there are xbox to PC converters out there, I have some faith that there'll be one for PC to PC.
  3. Bulletstorm. Short, but didn't necessarily overstay its welcome. The ending was meh, though, completely setting it up for a sequel. Definitely had some mechanics that I wish were in other games, though, and the writing was completely and utterly over the top, which I personally like.
  4. Finished Inheritance, the last book in the series started by Eragon. I had been reading those books since I was a little kid, and I guess I wanted to see how it all ended. And really, it wasn't very good. Filled with purple prose, deus ex machinas, unfinished side-stories and attempts at "maturity" that really didn't fit, it was a really, really disappointing conclusion to what I considered a pretty good series of books. I hate letting the ending of a series ruin the previous books or the story in general, but this just ended poorly, with the author trying to go with the mature, unexpected ending instead of the one that everyone saw coming, but would have nicely rounded out the series and the characters.
  5. I think I would mind the loading screens a lot more if they weren't so goddamn sexy. I usually just end up spinning the character model around in boredom, but they're so much better than the loading in New Vegas or Oblivion.
  6. Either you have very industrial style curtains with that metal rod, or you have a christmas tree in your bathroom, Hot Heart.
  7. SR3 was probably my favorite game of 2011, with Deus Ex HR a close second. The sheer ridiculousness of the missions later in the game sold it to me for sure. When they give you the predator missile in the first mission and then you find out you're able to use it outside of that mission whenever you want I knew that it was a game for me.
  8. Saw that on reddit and watched it twice in a row. The guy on the far right is badass.
  9. I've always preferred MaxiPad to "iTampon", but whatever. Seems easiest to just call it an iPad.
  10. If you're using, for example, a destruction spell in one hand (sparks, fire, etc.) and a sword/mace/any other one handed weapon, the game will level both your destruction and one-handed skill and your destruction skill. In your case, if you're using 2 swords, even though you're technically using 2 hands, they're both one-handed weapons, so you'll be leveling that skill instead of the two-handed skill like you would be if you were using, for example, a greatsword. EDIT: Ninja'd by MaliciousH.
  11. I'm a big fan of snapper, lemon juice, and a nice salsa. Makes a perfect fish mean and all you have to do is sauté the fillet of snapper in the lemon juice, then add the salsa about halfway through as a glob on top. Perfect if you're poor, as the only expensive thing in there is the fish, and lemons and salsa is always lying around my house anyway. Besides that, chinese chicken salad, which is just sauteed chicken in oil thrown on top of a salad of soft (slimy) soba noodles, almonds, cucumbers, and sometimes peas, dressed with rice vinegar. It's not incredibly healthy (rice vinegar/chicken), but it is a ton of vegetables and I think it's fucking tasty. But usually, when I've got nothing else to eat I have a French Dip sandwich, which is probably one of the easiest things in the world to make. All you need is good bread, roast beef, cheese, mustard, and beef broth. Turn the first 4 ingredients into a sandwich, heat up the broth, dip the sandwich in the broth, eat. Not exactly healthy, but fast, easy, and tasty.
  12. Fucking Bioware, always having to include dancing in their games...
  13. You can bind those weapons to keys 1-9 by pressing the corresponding key while you have the item selected in the favorites menu.
  14. Saw this over break. It's wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't terrible either. Directed by Richard Ayoade of the IT Crowd. I did really dig the soundtrack, though, by Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys. The gloomy nature fit really well with the rest of the film.
  15. Sounds like Giantbomb with worse journalists, IMO.
  16. I think my problem was that I played Far Cry 1 and Crysis back to back. Here's this island simmy game, open world, both made by crytek, and they both have aliens in the second half of them. That was a number of years ago, but I remember about halfway through Crysis going "I feel like I have already played this game before." To me it felt like a thinly veiled Far Cry remake on a new engine, or well, a tech demo.
  17. Yes. From what I played on PS3, the character development was excellent and the noir setting is excellent. It is a little brutal in parts, so that may be something to watch out for if your wife is squeamish, though. I'm looking forward to finishing it in PC, myself.
  18. Crysis was the best tech demo I've ever played. Engine first, game second.
  19. Christmas presents to myself. The Kindle Touch is great so far.
  20. 1) Get into real college. I've been going to a community college for not very long, but it's in my hometown, and it's about time I get out of here before I go insane. 2) Move. This goes right along with where I live and resolution 1. 3) Gain weight. I'm about 6'3" and only 140 pounds, and I'd like to fit into pants that aren't impossible to find anywhere. 4) Stop buying games I can't finish/finish more games I bought, because, well, this is a gaming forum.
  21. That's my problem. I loved the game, and didn't have too many issues with the porting, but I've got 3 different characters across 2 different platforms each sitting at around level 40, and I'm yet to finish the game on any one of them. Between those 3 characters, I think I've probably played the game with upwards of 10 different people. I personally really enjoyed it, but I feel the magic of the co-op is lost when it's very difficult to get through the entire game with one or two other people.
  22. I added you and Enervation, Chopin. If you're wondering who that was, that is.
  23. Growing up in Humboldt, I've become so desensitized to the smell of weed it's not even funny. I agree with cigarettes, though. If I was to smoke anything it'd be weed before cigarettes.
