  1. Fixed that for you. This, so much. I still shake my head every time I'm in third person and side-step and move forward at the same time. It's like my character is skating across the Mojave. That and the "I'm frozen in a Matrix-jumping-pose" bit. I always preferred jumping and then trying to move my character as many places in the air as possible and just watching him float around.
  2. It'll be interesting if Bethesda can get the facial animations right while in conversation or prevent the game from having 20 or 30 "stock" NPCs that reappear subtly different throughout the game (i.e. Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion). It'll be bizarre playing a TOS or Fallout game with good facial animations.
  3. Somewhat unrelated, but... Yeah, that's unfortunate. I accidentally set my Origin name to my real name instead of some random ones (defaults to your email minus the @ handle) and then ragequit the program when it wouldn't let me change it. The EA livechat mocked not knowing what I was talking about so I guess it stays. It doesn't seem that difficult for EA to just put some box in Origin about changing names, even if you have to have a reason for changing it or it's not immediate. Minor bitchiness on my part, but if you're going to stick someone to a single profile you might as well at least give them the chance to change it subtly, even if it does have to be through EA Chat.
  4. Unfortunately no. Odd business model, but has seemed to encourage more people to try the game.
  5. I'm not sure. Part of me loves Counterstrike and played 1.6 to death, then the other part of me thought CSS was a mess and bought it mostly for the GMOD props. I think I'll probably buy it because I haven't missed a new Valve game ever, but I can't see it dragging me away from Battlefield for very long as far as online multiplayer goes. I feel like I've already lost the reflexes that made me good at 1.6 and would rather hide in a building with a LMG.
  6. Because you'll get it for xbox? Haha, no, because I love good games enough to jump through hoops to play them. Me too, for the most part. That being said, if BC2 keeps a strong community (and doesn't get it servers prematurely shut down) I'll probably just keep playing that until A) something changes with Origin and EA or BF3 goes on Steam or B) BF3 gets really cheap. Option A probably might never happen, but if it does I'm thinking I'll probably just buy it full price if I can to support that decision if it does ever happen.

  8. In other news, cats go "meow" and cows say "moo". Well, there goes the last bit of hope I had for BF3 on Steam.
  9. If you haven't bought it yet, now you have no excuse. Definitely go for it. I also think a PXOD tournament would be interesting if we could get enough people.

Just artifacting from leaving the card on, in this case. It's unfortunate, but the card works fine usually. It just has its moments.

I hope you're claiming the warranty on it... (if applicable)

It's an odd situation, but yeah, sending it off tomorrow. It's just bizarre. One day it works, the next day it doesn't, and then the next it works again. Whatever.

  10. Ah, Silent Alarm. Favorite of my 8th grade/early high school years. Their other albums just weren't as good.
  11. Figured out my graphics card issues. Apparently the 560Ti starts artifacting like crazy if you don't turn it off for a few hours every once and a while (cold reset).

Gonna try reinstalling and sweeping the drivers today and taking a shot at the beta drivers.

Really hoping I'm not going to have to RMA it with school starting up so soon and all, but if it's what I have to do I suppose that's what the warranty is there for.

Is there a way to manually turn the fans up to 100% speed? I've had problems with cards before not stepping up the fanspeed enough and causing the card to overheat - which leads to artifacts. It's also worth noting that Nvidia cards are notorious for high temperatures.

I'll give that a shot. I was overclocking, but I pushed everything down to stock speeds and set the fans to auto when it started tripping out. Oddly enough though it's been running no higher than 40C even after long sessions of BC2.

Reddit seems to think it's some sort of architecture issue with 560Ti's and not clearing caches after prolonged use.

  12. I'm thinking I need to get into the MP for Brotherhood now, as it just wasn't worth it on my PC launch (torrented) copy. Anybody up for a few games later this week/weekend?
  13. Because if they can cater to Market Y without alienating Market X, then that's just more customers for them. It'd be stupid not to. I think the big question mark there is what publishers think Market X and Y wants vs. what the markets actually want. With Blizzard, we want multiplayer and coop, but it doesn't mean limit the entire game to only multiplayer and coop. With EA, we want stat tracking and friends lists, but we don't want to have to open the stat tracking website every time we want to play a game. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the bigger publishers are getting increasingly more alienated to what the community is looking for in their games.
  14. Well, Brotherhood was months late. I'd imagine the earnings weren't quite high enough to get them to work on their PC ports any faster (From Dust is a recent example).
  15. deanverhey Slowly working through my Steam sale backlog, but often up for multiplayer of something.
  16. The ending, yeah? Now get on to Brotherhood. I liked it more than AssCreed2, honestly and it's an excellent continuation. Gameplay-wise, I agree. Brotherhood is an improvement over II in every aspect. But speaking strictly about the plot and ending, I preferred II by a wide margin. The ending of ACII was just a huge "Holy shit!" moment for me. Also, I love me a good cliffhanger. I found ACB's ending to be lacking in that department. There's a certain part of me that's always enjoyed the weird sci-fi type of backstory to the AC games, and I certainly liked how Brotherhood delivered and developed that. Spoiler tag'd just in case.

  18. Perhaps I should change my name to douchewaffle...
  19. Every time I play VVVVVV it just reminds me that I am absolutely awful at platformers. Honestly, I didn't really enjoy the gameplay all that much (250+ deaths, exponentially more expletives in about an hour), but I kept playing for the music, which is just amazing. And don't worry about the rest of the bundle sucking. I can personally vouch that Atom Zombie Smasher is probably worth whatever you paid for it alone.
  20. Brand new GTX 560Ti is artifacting like a bitch suddenly and I won't be back in town to deal with it until wednesday. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Sounds like an overheating issue caused the chip to fry.

  21. I was under the impression there was really no point to playing it in SP.
  22. This reminds me, I need to download and play Borderlands. I feel like a bad nerd for never having played it.
