As far as a backlog goes, games I've beaten this year: Fallout 3 Bad Company 2 SP (doesn't really count) Far Cry 2 Assassin's Creed Medal of Honor Plants Vs. Zombies Portal 2 Serious Sam: The First Encounter Rainbow Six: Vegas Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 In progress: Just Cause 2 (doubt I'll ever beat this, honestly) Fallout: New Vegas (doubt I'll beat this for a long time) Splinter Cell: Conviction (surprisingly fun, co-op is awesome) Other games to play this year: Grand Theft Auto IV Entire STALKER series AssCreedBro Borderlands + DLC Men of War: Assault Squad Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trying to get those done before Steam has another sale, but I doubt I will. Steam sales, you will be the death of me.

For the most part it's just a silly combination of 2 names I go by other places. PotatoSpork + Luftwaffles = Sporkwaffles somehow. I'm not sure how much I like it or if it even makes sense, but enough people know me by it that I've just stuck with it. As far as steam goes, same premise, but even though there's about 30something Luftwaffles's on steam I'm too lazy to change it and fairly apathetic about tons of people with the same handle as myself. Luftwaffles certainly appeals to the pun loving side of me as well, so that's another reason I kept it.

The only requirement I remember from the email was that you had a Veteran account, I.E. you've played 1942/2142/BF2 at some point. Yeah, I got my invite the day after I added all my old games to Veteran. The Alpha ends sunday, though, so I wouldn't really go adding all of the games now.

It feels a LOT like the Medal of Honor multiplayer honestly. Which wasn't all that bad, but it's not the Battlefield 3 I was hoping for.

First impressions... it's really... not very good. But honestly, I think it would be a lot better on a different map. Give me Wake Island or Gulf of Oman in the beta and I'll be happy as a clam. This, though (especially all the bullshit necessary to even get in a game) just feels like an oddly linear Medal of Honor MP more than a Battlefield multiplayer. The players don't help, but I have high hopes it would be different on a better map. I love both BC2 and BF2 to death, but this has taken some of the worst parts of both games and somehow combined them together. But perhaps my standards are just too high.

You should be able to. I think you just have to make sure it's added to your EA account and it should be fine.

Boy, I wish this wasn't the case, but it definitely is. I find this bizarre because of EA's apparent success in the Steam summer sale, though, particularly with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I have 3 or 4 friends that didn't care about the Battlefield series at all, never played a single game, but when they saw that BC2 was on sale (with all the DLC) they went and picked up the game and all of the DLC, which is exactly what EA wants. If it wasn't on Steam, though, and it wasn't cheap, there was no way they were going to buy the game, much less all of the DLC. Sure, EA only gets 70% of those profits, but the profits are still going to be exponentially greater than if they decided to try and market the game on their own. Either EA realizes that and doesn't give a fuck, or they don't realize it and think they can make just as much money selling their games independently as they can on Steam. For the sake of Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, I sure hope it's the former.

I still think the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory OST is one of my favorite game scores, if not my favorite. Every time I listen to it I seem to end up pulling out Chaos Theory for the PS2 and playing it again.

Nice nice. I'm supposed to get the beta for buying Medal of Honor, but I suppose I might have to activate that to my EA account sometime soon. Honestly, how the beta is probably determines whether or not I buy the game. I'd like to try and get it on steam if possible, of course. I'm more curious to see if the beta includes any other maps and if the dolphin diving gets fixed. Every alpha video I've seen so far has the players running around like it's COD, and that kinda worries me.

That would indeed. It's good for me, though, it means I can probably buy it day 1/preorder with Financial Aid money instead of trying to wait until said money comes in.

Wikipedia says it is, but that might not be the best judge as the source is only a joystiq article. The official dev facebook says July 27th, but only explicitly mentions Xbox, so PC and PS3 might just come later. EDIT: Did not realize GMGs site said June 27th on the PC. I'm guessing it might just come to Steam that day as well, no preorder.

The final parts of my new PC build. MSI P67 mobo, Cooler Master HAF 912 case, Hyper 212 heatsink/cooler, 8GB Corsair RAM and generic DVD drive and thermal paste. All that goes with i5 and GTX560 Ti. Pretty psyched. It's been a long time since I've been able to run games at native resolution and still have them look good. Might post pictures when I finally get this done.

Had a high of 75F/24C today and people were out in shorts and t-shirts complaining about how hot it was. Only in Northern California.

It's not good, it's not really well produced either, but god 90's American Crunk is fucking hilarious.

I do have a free PC but my internet is 130kb/s and I can't spare any of it, unfortunately. That is probably a better idea than buying/renting a server, though. At least at first.

I think it makes sense to have a sort of rotating server based on voting or something each month. Think, each month there could be a poll and that could choose the server for that month. I'm not sure if this is even technically possible (it probably isn't, as a BF3 or BC2 server would likely cost more than a Terarria server), but I suppose it's an idea. At least this way when the TF2 server becomes empty after 2 weeks we could easily change it. I'm always down for donating around 5 bucks a month for servers if that's a possibility, but they're not cheap and would need some fairly regular donators probably.

I will probably pick this up. I feel bad for people who got it for $25 in the summer sale. Yeah, that was my immediate thought as well. I loved Civ IV, any thoughts on how V compares? Better? Worse? I'm pretty sure I can scrounge 17 dollars at least.
