Bought Deus Ex: HR, Red Orchestra 2, Bastion, and Far Cry. Tried to keep it all under $100 and I think I did. I'm a bit tempted by MW2 just for the spec ops coop, but I'm not sure if it's worth 15 dollars to me.

Well, preordered the deluxe edition, which includes beta access. I'll post my thoughts when it downloads and when I play it a little, but I think this is going to be a Deus Ex filled weekend rather than a RO weekend, honestly.

The Far Cry games are on sale on steam today, and I think Far Cry 2 is pretty flipping fantastic, even though most of the internet seems to treat it with some distaste.

I know I'll apply there, and if I end up following through with this Aerospace Engineering idea that's where I'll probably end up going, I'm just not 100% sold on the SLO area yet. Thanks for the offer. I live about 6 hours away in cold, rainy Humboldt, so it would definitely be a difference moving somewhere warm and sunny.

I think it was obvious that MW3 will feature steamworks support. Btw, steamworks implementation in MW2 was awesome and in blops it was horrible. And I'm not too happy about dedicated servers, it means a hell lot of servers with retarded rules and whatnot. Because of some pussies who force such rules me and my friends have our own "no rules" server in BFBC2. Yeah, I think you're right but this was the first official news of it I had heard.

Fuck out of state vs. in state tuition. That's all I really have to say right now. I go to a community college (which is dirt cheap and my financial aid covers about 10 times the tuition). But here's my problem. In a year I'll be able to transfer, but I'm honestly not sure if I can afford it. I'd like to go out of state to somewhere like University of Washington, but unless I move up there for a year and establish residency $35,000 annually is just waaaaay too much to pay, even though I've been able to save about $10,000 in the past few years. As a result, I'll probably end up applying only to in state colleges, and even though schools like Cal Poly San Luis Obispo run about $12,000 annual, I can't see myself paying $23,000 dollars more just to live in a place that I enjoy more.

Sssshhhh. Don't tell anyone. All I've played is the first 30 minutes of the first Deus Ex. The person below me hasn't played any of the Final Fantasy games.

Honestly, I prefer that over the Fallout-style "fast travel to a bed and sleep for one hour to regain health" strategy that I've always employed.

That would be what a headset is As for a headphones n desktop mic set-up I know Johnny is pretty dead set on that combination over a headset anyday. Says built-in mics are crappy. Right I was just wondering because what he linked was just headphones, no mic included. I'm definitely all for the headphones + mic as well, but more for headphone sound quality and less for mic quality. I know pretty much nothing about mics honestly, but that cheapass Logitech has worked wonders for me.

Just looking at your link I assume you mean headphones + mic, but correct me if I'm wrong. Are you 100% sold on headsets? I'm a bit of an audiophile myself so I went with a combination of these Shure headphones plus a $30 USB Logitech desktop mic and I'm actually really surprised at how good the mic is. Even leaning back in my chair and mumbling at about 2.5 feet from the mic I still come through crystal clear on the other end. It's actually surprisingly good with the TV in the background as well. I don't actually have any headset suggestions if you are dead set on one, but I definitely wouldn't rule out good headphone + microphone combos either. I feel like a lot of headsets skimp on the headphone set of them and sound quality isn't great because of it. If you're actually looking for just headphones, well, disregard that I guess but I'd highly recommend those Shures.

It's on my "to buy once financial aid gets in list" right after Deus Ex, honestly. But because it'll download faster I'll probably just end up playing it a lot while Deus Ex downloads. I tried the demo and that pretty much sold it to me.

Yep. The good old jump-immediately go prone type of deal. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I also can't seem to remember any game having as fast on the ground movement as BF3. I feel like I would be a lot more excited about it and perhaps willing to overlook the Origin mishaps if I felt like the game was actually good. Sure it was just an alpha, but they've got a long way to go before it's on the level of BF2.

No, the fuckers never sent me an invite. From the sounds of it, it's probably a good thing that I wasn't. It seems the alpha was as much a turn off as the recent news. Yeah, it was pretty awful. That's coming from a Battlefield fanatic too. I'm late to the party on BC2, but I would definitely say BF3 felt more like BC3 than BF2. The movement was too fast, and I would have canceled my pre order just because of the dolphin diving, honestly. I started shooting at the ground in preparation for people dropping it was so bad in a couple servers.

At least you can admit it. Were you in the BF3 alpha perchance?
