  1. The dragon killed itself when I was farming him for the 300 souls at a time. By pure luck I was already at 10,000 souls so when he died all I had to do was go buy the orb. MetalCaveman, you might be good enough to beat this game without soul farming, but seeing how EVERYBODY else and their mums are doing what I'm doing it makes it where it's the norm. Admittedly the Capra demon, and the gargoyle fight were WAY too easy when I'm a level 50 something but I gotta say it's worth it just to not die every 5 seconds. Right now I'm farming souls to increase the overall damage of my fireball, then I'm gonna buy another fireball spell so I can have 16 throws per campfire. I've also killed the golden knight that is trapped in the jail cell and the mini-boss [Hovel is his name I think] so I can have their max, equipment increase rings and now I can wear the elite knight armor AND roll around. Somebody has told me that the golden knight is part of the story later on, but I didn't care. That ring of his is too good. I'm gonna fully upgrade my armor and upgrade as much as I can the fireball spell then continue on past the depths. I'm already saving souls so I can buy a crapload of curse cures.
  2. You need 20,0000 souls so you can buy this key from the blacksmith near darkroot garden. The door is to the passage to the left in darkroot garden, at the very end. There's a hidden fire/camp right next to it. The best way to get the 20,000 souls is to use the red dragon [the one you get the drake sword from] to scorch the skeletons on top of the bridge. There's a shortcut to the fireplace near the entrance of the town. You probably already kicked down the ladder seeing how far you are. If you've already killed the dragon and don't have anywhere near 20,000 souls, you can still get there by killing the skeletons yourself but this takes much longer as the dragon would kill them all in a matter of seconds. Once you get the key and open the door in darkroot gardens, let me know. I would explain what to do, but there's tons of videos in youtube on how to do it. I went from a level 16 to a level 48 just by rinsing and repeating this method. You gotta love how the only way people are doing so good in this game is by exploiting its easy 'cash' and cheap weapons. To be fair the games' difficulty practically begs you to cheat.
  3. Nah this game just makes me ragequit a lot. I was hoping I could get the black knight sword but not one of the 3 black knights I've killed has dropped it, even when I'm in human form. So now I have a claymore, which isn't too terribly far off from the Drake Sword in damage.I'm farming souls now in the 7000 souls in 2 minutes area so that's nice. I'm gonna get as high of a level as I can.
  4. I'm now done with this game. The Red Dragon in the bridge killed itself with a glitch while I was using it to farm souls, and I never bothered to get the Drake Sword. Fuck this I'm not about to start yet another character and get all the way here again.
  5. Yeah. Master key is the best gift imho. I made a pyromancer with it just because everything else seems like it'll waste away after a certain time or has no use whatsoever. And Duke, the best way to kill the boar is to do the same thing I did. First attract as many of the undead in the lower area as you can to the fa away area. Kill them. Then head upstairs and kill the other ones. Ones you've kill those, go down the stairs and try and attract the boar to the bonfire that is next to them. That's what really hurts it.
  6. Ok. Being a 360 user, this is my first experience with this type of game. I was extremely frustrated and decided to call it quits on the game. Today I went to a house full of ps3 user best friends, and they've pretty much convinced me to play as they do. And that way is cheap. What they've recommended me to do, is to basically exploit the game errors and cheap mistakes to my advantage. I would be against this on any other game, but I think Dark Souls WANTS you to be cheap. I started out as a thief who didn't do shit of damage. With my friends' advice I have now: 1. Started as a pyromancer. 2. Gotten to the Red Dragon/Drake on the bridge. 3. Exploited the fact that the dragon kills the skeletons/zombies on the bridge with its fire, and pretty much soul farmed 300 souls per campfire. And there's a shortcut to the nearest campfire right under the drake. 4. Once I get enough souls [i need 20,000 to buy the orb for a door in the gardens that will let you easily grind anywhere from 2000 to 5000 per campfire run then however much more I can get until leveling up starts to cost a lot of souls] I will destroy its tail and get the drake sword. Like everybody else has stressed out, the drake sword is practically necessary to survive in the first few areas of the game. I have one question. Is there any way to spend souls to make your fire spell stronger? Or how do you make spells stronger in general?
  7. I gave Dark Souls its chance. I'm done giving it its chance.

Are you sure you don't mean it gave you many chances and you failed all of them...at least thus far. Because, if it's anything like Demon's Souls, that would be the norm. :D

  8. I don't know why I keep hoping that Gamefly titles arrive at my house by the release date considering that they are shipped at 7 am the day before release date and I'm 2 hours away from the shipping center. Ah well, it'll be here tomorrow.

  10. Hmmm. My only problem with the game right now is how quickly weapons deteriorate and how expensive it gets to fix weapons. There's a skill to lower the speed these weapons take damage. My other complaint is that I wish there was an area attack of sorts. Maybe there is one in the combat skill tree, but so far I've been in situations where I get suyrrounded and can't do shit. Also the thug zombies are WAY too overpowered. I'm fine with them being resistant to attacks, but just the fact that their punches are pretty speedy and that they have a really small break between them, it makes it extremely hard to hurt them. Unless they're groaning.
  11. in the third skill tree, there's an option to add more space to your inventory.
  12. No way in hell am I giving away that much money.
  13. If I cared about Warhammer, I would consider this game. But then I would remember that Gears comes out in a few weeks.
  14. I think it's because of the fiasco with the PC version [more specifically the Steam version] tells you to do things as if you were on a console. On another note, my current semester is eating up my free time. Not so much the hw as the clubs. Good thing that after this week meetings will be every 2 weeks.
  15. Being hateful on the internet only furthers the stereotype. I say turn the other cheek and just point out he's wrong, then laugh.
  16. I would at this point complain at how crappy the game is. But then I remember that it's a first person shooter. It shouldn't be this bad in co-op. Or else I'll be having lots of lulz if it is
  17. Anybody playing Dead Island on the 360 willing to do co-op at some point?

cool. I probably can't play today due to a lot of hw, but tomorrow I should be free after classes

  18. I've been keeping clear of the "hard" missions until I reach a decent level. No idea if this is like Borderlands and once you reach a certain level it'll change to medium or easy difficulty, but there's more than enough to explore in this area. My only complaint so far is that I haven't seen any healing items you can carry with you and press a button to use. Maybe the PC does have some, but I've been relying on the little health drinks you find scattered around for the 360 version. I'm also starting to see the downside of melee weapons. I can't wait until I can do decent damage by throwing weapons, since apparently some zombies are fast as fuck and others carry around weapons. I have too been scared shitless a couple of times already. Not because the game is pop-up scary. It's because of two reasons. I'll put spoiler tags just in case somebody doesn't want to get spoiled on certain gameplay aspects, but I assure you there's no story spoilers down here.:
  19. I've been playing the game, and you can color me impressed. I'm by no means blown away but the game is exactly like people describe it. Fallout 3 free-roaming with Borderlands-esque missions [aka do this, receive this reward] and a rage mode [similar to the Berserk mode in that the screen turns red and stuff]. I'm playing as the former football player from Texas who is the throwing weapons specialist. I can tell that once I update the throwing knives power that it'll be really useful, but as of right now I have to rely on melee weapons. I don't really see a point on a firearms specialist when the game doesn't have that many to begin with. And the asian character is wearing a kimono-looking thing? In the middle of a tropical paradise? Whaaa?

  21. So the game itself isn't HORRIBLE, it's just that there was a fuck-up of sorts?
