Yeah, that opening is a bit of the first short story; and that is Princess Adda...who, obviously, Geralt later has a chance to sleep with ('You plant the seed. Then you fuck the plant'?) I would definitely recommend the book (The Last Wish). All great short stories. Also, I just realised, my copy never played the voiceover during the intro film (of course, I knew what was happening anyway).

DUUUH.') - Whiny ass kids on their headsets during online games (and ones that play music or sing too) - This is more of a pet peeve, but people who spell 'lose' as 'loose'. Dumbasses. EDIT. And more recently (sorry, another Reach thing), because this happens way too often, people who just do nothing in Firefight matches. Seriously, what the fuck are you doing?! Your presence has scaled the enemies up and you're not helping. Just fucking go offline if you're not gonna be playing. I must have had one each game the other night.

I don't think any are needed 'artistically', but film studios have got to watch their bottom line after all.

I think my friend said the game was quite hard (especially compared to KOTOR) and he enjoyed it enough on easy (he was on PC, which I heard was supposed to be a bit less forgiving though).

I think JC2 is aware how absurd it is. Although, for one mission I thought it might be quite dumb. I had to escort a woman who had been working undercover or something, but she would only ride in a limo; which seemed like the worst way to travel to safety. Needless to say, once that had been sent flying off a cliff and into a river she was open to alternative modes of transport.

I played Stranglehold and enjoyed it enough. I played the demo for WET and was left distinctly unimpressed. It does seem to have some people who love it though, so I guess...give the demo a try?

Too Human is a weird one. When it was good it was pretty fun, but most of the time it was just terrible. I did feel oddly compelled to finish it though. Wouldn't have paid more than the £9 I did.

But if you don't stay up to date and then look back at what has been happening, it becomes much more apparent how ridiculous a lot of it is. I really should stay up to date...

I'm not a huge fan of FPS games but there have been rare exceptions. Timesplitters (2) I enjoyed because of the co-op story as well as the competitive play with friends and bots Halo series. Again it was the co-op that drew me in (and it's a lot of fun for noobs) and I started playing online with 2 (shortly before 3 came out). Now with Reach you can even do an online co-op mode that's a blast. Resistance 2, I only played co-op because the story felt too much like a corridor shooter (and no co-op like TS2 was probably a large factor). I'd recommend that because it scales to difficulty and because you're taking on different roles in a team it's not always on you. You can even play a medic so you're more focused on healing people (and they sure as hell appreciate that). Of course, it doesn't matter if you suck (we all do at first). Start with the difficulty down low and work your way up.

That's what I've always hated in the games. Having to give shitty, unchangeable HMs to some pokemon just to get through areas. Some of them are alright but Cut is defnitely not one you ever want to keep. It just bugs me because I usually have to devote one slot to a pointless HM move pokemon. Although I've read that the HM moves are more for exploring than actual story progression this time around.

Gave into all the hype and ordered Pokémon White. I'll see if I get any further than I did in Platinum (which was my last go at the series since Silver).

That's the thing, for a crime show, if Greg Grunberg is the most recognisable face that usually means they did it I recognise the guy called Morgan at 2:00 and he has played a criminal before, so already I'd be suspecting him...
