  1. Yeah, I get the feeling there will be lots of nods to the Batman lore (IGN saw the Sionis Industries signs as well as ones for The Penguin and one for The Flying Graysons) if Rocksteady aren't putting the actual villains in the game. Ultimately, if they don't work, I'm guessing gameplay trumps what Dini wants to write (which might be an interesting topic to look at in terms of game development).
  2. Atomsk was referring to what Greg Miller at IGN spotted in the latest trailer. Seems more likely than the Red Hood. And they haven't just mentioned Two-Face. He's been known and now shown for a long time.

I know people were discussing Darksiders http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/17/darksiders-is-75-off-on-steam-this-weekend/
  4. OK, I don't know how familiar you are with the series. I just thought it was odd, wasting 7 Ultra Balls, a Dusk Ball and a Great Ball on a pokemon you just happened to see; especially when a Net Ball might have been a better bet (helps to be prepared). I'd just cut my losses and come back to get it another time. Although, having checked, seeing one of those at level 7 seems very strange. And I'll just clarify, obviously I wasn't suggesting you teach a regular team pokemon a mostly useless move (and I'd never replace Quick Attack either).
  5. I don't think the 360 one started off any better. I've not tried either though. And I'd only do a write-up if I were 100% sure the problems were on their end.
  6. You can teach a pokemon 'False Swipe' if you're out to catch weaker ones. That way the opponent is always left with at least 1HP. I've never had to use it but if I met one at level 7, I would probably need it. As excel_excel already pointed out, you can attain that by talking to Professor Juniper (it's obvious you've seen enough pokemon to achieve it).
  7. I don't think they'd question it after seeing some of the others on there.
  8. Hehe. Those were my exact same thoughts when I first saw it.
  9. I seem to recall there was some sort of political reasoning in that Gotham had been a blight on the nation and now seemed the perfect opportunity to treat them as a completely separate entity and section it off. Adds to the fact that Bruce Wayne (well, Batman) feels he needs to seize control and establish peace. I'd recommend reading the collection.
  10. Yeah, Arkham City is pretty close to No Man's Land in a way (and I agree, you couldn't do that sort of topic right now). I'm certainly looking forward to it. I'm getting a sort of Assassin's Creed vibe of off it; only with far better combat and a greater emphasis on being stealthy. For No Man's Land, I don't think you'd necessarily have to create a big 'Gotham sandbox' nor make it as non-linear as you might expect. You could create certain areas for the game to take place in and use hubs/safehouses to select them from. I just think some of the concept of retaking and rebuilding the area seen in the comics would have been nice (and something I hoped inFamous would have done more of). It's probably a tough concept to get across without being clunky though.
  11. I feel multiplayer should have gone to Reach, not NFS: HP. Modes of many types for all sorts, Forge mode as well as a decent matchmaking and party system (although, that's more a Live thing). NFS: HP was still selling more modes, last I saw.
  12. Friend just linked me this: Wishy-washies and cold on a cob!
  13. Ah, that might have just been a Dean mistake (considering he didn't even recognise its usage). Closest would be that things can be 'going off' but that's usually in a negative way as in 'shit is going down!'
  14. Yeah, I wasn't really talking to you. I didn't think the US used 'going on' like that in the first place.
  15. I was thinking it might be more like when someone is ranting? So, you're either 'going off on one' or 'going on and on'. But that would make Ethan's examples incomplete (and possibly irrelevant since we use both).
  16. For Badmin And some funny pics to follow, here: http://kotaku.com/5782899/talk-amongst-yourselves?comment=37726461:37726461
  17. You're gonna have to give a definition there, Ethan, because right now that doesn't make sense. Sorry.
  18. Yeah, we're not trying to get into serious debate, nor can we change how language works. We are just here to point and laugh at the funny stuff.
  19. Apparently he took credit for stopping The Joker in AA (even though the final battle was televised) and has become Mayor of Gotham off of that. You'd think if Batman knew Sharp was crazy he'd have done something about it. And it's not just a ghost telling the backstory. If I remember correctly, once you find all the Spirit of Arkham stuff you can return to the warden's office and find him gone and loads of crazy scribblings (I think only visible in detective mode?). There's also an easter egg with the plans for Arkham City hidden away; but that's an easter egg so would be even less canon than collectibles. If Paul Dini's still writing it, I have faith it will at least be OK.
  20. The whole Arkham City thing is a bit weird but it's the fact that Quincy Sharp is now the mayor and setup the place that is the weirdest. I mean, if you get all the collectibles in AA, you know he's gone a bit nuts, but I'm guessing that's not considered canon... I would've loved to have seen something like No Man's Land done in videogame form (not that this isn't close).
  21. While the US is notorious for murdering foreign languages and pronunciation, I agree with Ethan on this one. After all, English is made up of bits and pieces from other languages that have been beaten into shape. I imagine you could find examples of French words we use that couldn't be seen as a straight translation like entrée = entrance
  22. I've heard people rave about Nier, but no one has said Enslaved was amazing. It was just 'good'.
  23. Remembered 'stroppy' and 'in a strop' for being bad tempered or in a bad mood, today.
  24. Just found these on my laptop. Started this last year when I didn't have regular internet access for three months and was watching lots of TV boxsets. These are basically little (and hopefully humorous) reviews of Horatio Caine's opening lines for CSI: Miami episodes (even when they are not said by him...) I was going to start a little blog thing for them but I couldn't think of a decent name (see thread title for proof) and I figured I might as well share what I did here. I'll post a few to get started and then I may share some more if people want them. 1.01 - Golden Parachute 1.02 - Losing Face 1.03 - Wet Foot/Dry Foot p.s. Feel free to suggest names for this or leave any feedback.
