  1. After what Strangelove said, and having watched some gameplay videos and such now, I'm actually pretty excited for Arkham Origins

Doing some research - while getting sidetracked by BatmanArkhamVideos' superhuman predator videos (seriously, those are mindblowing) - a fledgling Riddler could be making an appearance (though Anarky may be the hostage-taker this time round) and I think the as-yet-unrevealed assassin could be a very interesting one indeed...

  2. Well, that and long-term progression balancing. Also noticed: People who were a little afraid of losing their money if killed in Free Mode can rest easy, that's been limited to a max of $500, which is chump change.

  6. I'm sure everyone's seen this by now, but just in case...
  7. i.e. NOT WHAT CARS DO
  8. Since I have Netflix, I started watching this. Already up to the end of season one. It can be a teency bit too slow or 'obvious' at times, but it's really good otherwise. And this scene was great. Also, hoping there's more of Badger.
  9. Not so much that. Firstly, there is an option to turn them off should the host wish. Secondly, it's fine for all other races. It's just this is pretty much just a straight stretch, so you can be out in first, having your speed really cut down while the guy behind is getting a massive boost and then gets to slipstream straight past you as well. The only solution would be to try and hang back in second until the last bit, like the rat in the fucking Chinese Zodiac race.
  10. God, I am so fucking sick of people wanting to race Route 68. It's no fun being way out in first for the second half of the race and having the catch-up mechanics screw you over right at the end.
  11. You goddamn Maverick! Your ego is writing checks your body can't cash!
  12. Sage advice: never confuse marketing with the game.
  13. Could be that Ubisoft's own game, AC4, might overshadow it. Either way, even though I really want to play the game, I am OK with waiting. Partly, so it is as polished as it can be but also because I may have a PS4 by then and that version will probably perform better than my PC. Or I'll have a better PC.

How did I completely miss the existence of that thread?

  14. "Greetings, citizen. Thanks to our own metrics data and state-of-the-art matching system, we have assigned you your new friends: #45835529, #0485572685 and #364499570. Please do not try and contact user #128476004 (formerly xXsmokweedeverdayXx). Due to what can only be described as 'an offensive display' captured by our Kinect camera, their account has been reported to the appropriate authorities. All of them."
  15. Yeah, and there's a little less detail. You'll also notice 'blue car syndrome' or just 'crap car syndrome' (especially frustrating when you're trying to find something decent to sell). Though, if you do a race with the traffic the suicidal bastards are all over the place.
  16. Forgot to post these. "Chop will fetch grenades" AND THIS IS WHY YOU WEAR A HELMET, ETHAN
  17. The Blue Dahlia (yes, blue!) Another one of the boxset noirs. Was a little disappointed with this one, even though it was written by Raymond Chandler. Though I hear he struggled with finishing the screenplay and turned to booze. There are decent performances and some sharp Chandler dialogue and scenarios and it's not exactly terrible, but the story meanders all over the place and feels a little disjointed. It seems obvious who the murderer is (and was originally written to be before it was changed) so when the denouement plays a switch it feels a little forced and silly. Also, there was a character referred to as 'Dad' despite bearing no paternal relationship to any of the characters, which really messed with my poor flu-addled brain.
  18. Picking just three is tough! Definitely going to be missing some bigguns. Anyway, here goes... Mass Effect 2 Out of the series, I felt it had the right balance of RPG elements mixed with action game stuff. That suicide mission, before you know the variables, is an amazingly tense experience the first time you play it. ME1 was great as well, but I find it a chore to replay (and some of the music makes me depressed...), and ME2 exclusively has some of my favourite characters along for the ride. ME3 really souped up the combat (though actually simplified the power/barrier relations), and the multiplayer was really fun, but it just didn't have the same atmosphere as the first two (inescapably so) and did so many things wrong. Batman: Arkham City The perfect action game. A tight mix of brilliantly designed combat, stealth and a plethora of mini-puzzles...and Batman. Builds on the first game beautifully. Halo 3 Sure. the campaign is a little crap towards the end, and the Flood is the worst thing ever in this game, but at the time it was a revelation. I was playing with three other friends, roaming these huge battlefields, some in a warthog, others in hornets. At the time, for me, it really was 'next-gen' bliss. On top of that, I fell in love with the multiplayer mode, which had never really happened with an FPS (or any games really) before. And theatre mode was fantastic, and I spent many hours in there, capturing cool and humorous clips. I could probably have picked the later Halos had I played them with friends or if perhaps the multiplayer didn't suck (looking at you, Reach) but 3 gets the memories. Honorable mentions: Rock Band 3/The Beatles: Rock Band, GTA IV and V, Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, The Last of Us, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Just Cause 2, Gears of War
  19. I can't say you'll fall in love with the show if you weren't sold after a few episodes, but there are some interesting developments and reveals. It avoids just being 'Crime Prevention: New York' every week. I saw that ad for Misfits and thought the same. I'm still yet to watch the rest of the earlier series though, since I'd seen most of an episode I thought was rubbish and then one that was delightfully weird.

  21. Yeah, seems he... Ah, well, at least we got this.
  22. Yeah, I had minimal issues for one day. And $500k gets you quite a lot. Like two chicks at the same time! What do you mean that's only like $40?
