No, it's like the RDR mission. Dog = god. The game has lots of nice little touches. As Michael, if you back into the same clothing store as the one you visited during your first mission for Lester, the sales clerk asks how your interview went (teehee!). There's also the fact that when you go back home after his family leaves, he remarks that he'll never get use to how quiet it is. On one occasion, while listening to the radio, Trevor commented on a news story that was unrelated to his own antics and after the Citizen Border Patrol mission, I returned back to his trailer and he proclaimed, "This is America!" (and then hurled a string of insults at Ron).

Yeah, it was pretty good. Bit of mystery behind Coulson's return, decent ensemble (and we all know Whedon is good with those) and a lot of potential. Some of the dialogue was a bit hokey though, and I think it could do with being a little less jokey, even if it was funny for the most part. Oh, without any superheroes around, Maria Hill did seem a little ridiculous in her jumpsuit.

There was the Halo 3 LE debacle, I was always worried about my Uncharted 2 LE and then, yeah, my ME2 disc broke (fortunately, EA Download Manager - now Origin - saved me there). I HATE STEELBOOKS YEAH Anyway, on-topic, glad to see people I know and trust are finding the controls OK. Gives me a little more confidence. Though, what I really missed from Fahrenheit/IP was the cat-and-mouse situation, so promisingly set up early on.

I watched IGN's alternative playthroughs. While everything went a different path, it all wound up at the same place (so like early part of Heavy Rain). I didn't like the sound/look of the Aiden stuff though, and it seems like it takes just a second or so too long for his actions to trigger, and I guess once you've played a bit you get used to the constant slow-mo with lack of onscreen prompts for all the QTE stuff. The effect might look better, but I'm not quite convinced it'll play better...

Haha. As Trevor I ran into a massive gathering of The Lost MC in Los Santos and got into a fistfight with a few of them. When the police turned up, I ran off round a corner and hid as a massive gunfight ensued, leaving many casualties.

Yeah, that's pretty much the idea.

More thoughts: - Just noticed that Trevor's tattoo is an RIP one for Michael. - A lady gifted me a suit for helping get her car back (miraculously shooting the thief dead from a great distance and without breaking any of the windows). Now Trevor owns a suit... - Michael's 'Did Somebody Say Yoga?' mission. Hahaha. Really wish I could fly around the city (come on, PC version...) - Turns out, I am pretty terrible at flying helicopters...regretting my heist approach choice now. They just bob about so erratically and they never feel like they're going forward! Funnily enough, I aced the time trial thing in the plane...though I was shitting myself the whole time. - Jimmy must be Jonah Hill...or an impressionist. - Just because you're aware your characters are cliches, Rockstar, that doesn't absolve you.

Just remembered this thread where discussion would fit better: http://forum.pressxordie.com/topic/1799-gaming-and-catering-to-smaller-consumer-groups/ Anyway, I think 'quality' is not so much part of the equation in this regard. I mean, we all want better writing, the point is to ignore whether something feels 'forced' or not. Borderlands 2 is just...dumb, but I'm all for more diverse, well-rounded characters, in general. Like I said before with the gay characters in Mass Effect 3, it doesn't impact on their ability to perform their duties; it's just who they are. Also, I can't remember if this was shared before, but I've always liked this perspective as well.

I don't know if he gets 'better', but there is a certain elucidation of his character in some moments, particularly during and after 'By The Book'. There's something of a TDK Joker in him, some sort of anarchist yet with a code/purpose.

Relevant and well-said. http://www.heyash.com/in-defense-of-arbitrary-diversity/

Agreed. Though, I really don't think Rockstar know the meaning of the word 'subtle'.

I wish Trevor were more Boyd Crowder and less...complete maniac.

I'm liking the random encounters. Drove a guy to the airport after his car broke down, he gave me a stock tip for something that went up thirty points. Wishing I'd invested all $500k instead of just $100k now. Then I ran across a No Country For Old Men-style drug deal gone tits-up and stole the cash only to find some guys on my tail after that. They were shooting the crap out of me on my bike, even when I rode halfway up a mountain and then flew back down the otherside. Eventually, found a decent location and smoked those fools. This was all during one 'journey' to go buy something. Fell in love with the bike I was riding. And some other random thoughts: - Only just discovered how to switch between different types of the same weapon class after I was wondering how the hell I get Trevor to use the Combat SMG I'd 'bought'. - I was hoping this little piece of music would be more of the game's theme, or at least during character switches. Really dug it when I first heard it in the trailer. - I'd heard about being able to insure your vehicles so they can always be recovered if destroyed (I think the impound is where you can buy back discarded/lost ones) - As Trevor, I drove a drunk and horny couple back to their motel and they started having sex in the car. Could see it whenever you pressed to look behind. - Accidentally skipped the tutorial for tennis (not sure if the coloured circles are tips for shots...) but I've won 2/3 matches so far...even though the game seems to think it is only 1/2. Never seen a stat buff from it yet though. - The exercising demons side mission was funny.

OK, I checked Franklin's shooting skill. Yeah, he is right near max now. Huh... I have to ask, why couldn't I use Michael's bullet-time when I was trying to close pop-ups on that guy's PC, huh?!
-
Hmm, because I must've spent more than 10 minutes in there as Franklin, getting gold on most of the challenges but I think I only got up one bar (so to 60 or 80). I'd have to double-check though, I was having too much fun just shooting stuff. EDIT: I forgot to mention I did my car-puncher thing. Most drive off sharpish, others get out and run away. Guess I should try it in a less salubrious area...

Would you happen to have been playing as Michael, who is near max anyway? Random thoughts: - Found a radio station that plays Hot Snakes and Metz. Fuck yes. Though I will have to drive around the countryside listening to Ash's Uncle Pat at some point and, of course, down near the coast listening to Eminence Front. - Pretty sure one of my guys just shot me in the back during a mission...or I tripped on something and died? - Experienced an honest glitch where a car rose out from the ground AND FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL? Either way, nearly knocked me off my bike. - I like the random cop chases you can witness. One went on forever because the perp flew into the back of the cop car and got wedged there, so no one knew what to do except continue forward. Followed it down the freeway for a while until I intervened and t-boned the criminal's car. A very quick, short-range gunfight between the two parties ensued. One criminal dead. I pick up $14. - First heist was a lot of fun. - STOP FRIGGIN' CHANGING THE CLOTHES I PUT YOU IN YOU GUYS

Maybe you already know, and it's not much better, but there is a reticule with a bigger circle round it.

I enjoyed GTA IV. It had its fair share of problems, sure, but driving around that world was a lot of fun (and still is). The story did start to grate by the end, but then I haven't been in the habit of playing games for long stretches in a while, so it was less noticeable. If I tried to replay it now, I'd probably give up (I quit TBOGT because of some shitty mission) but at the time it was my first proper 'next-gen' experience, so I'll always have fond memories of it.
