  1. The Wolverine. I had low expectations going in and it met them. Tries to be a little too serious...features a mecha-samurai. Film is far too long for what it is and the story is a little all over the place. That said, the action is fairly good and the setting is a nice change.
  2. Double Indemnity (yep, another one of the noirs. I told you!) This is one of the famed classics with a lot of the familiar tropes (and co-scripted by Raymond Chandler). At first it seems like one of those simple 'two people plan a murder and you sort of hope they get away with it until things start to unravel' plots but it's much smarter than that. It's got a few surprises for the latter part of the story and a real emotional core to it as well. Good stuff.
  3. I think it still hit the heights of earlier seasons many times, but it was weaker overall because of that split-up nature; I'm surprised it came off as well as it did actually, so I was impressed anyway. If they do another series 'properly' then I think it can be as good as before.
  4. Great news! http://www.ifc.com/fix/2013/07/arrested-development-return-season-5
  5. Who the fuck makes a PC game auto-save only?
  6. Actually, Jacob and Mordin do not wear full helmets either (SEXIST!)
  7. There's a joke in here somewhere...
  8. They will never block the porn! Wherever they try to block it, more will pop up. "If you build it, they will cum."
  9. Some more details along with some gameplay.
  10. Blake was such a waste of a character and screentime. If they wanted to do the No Man's Land thing, they should've found a way to work Sarah Essen in there. They had the timegap and everything, and Gordon's wife had left him.
  11. They're talented. The roles were a waste. Though, Cotillard did look like she just fell asleep at the end.
  12. Sequel news! (obviously, this will contain spoilers for the first film)
  13. Well, I wasn't really paying attention to the news about it, but I did see the quote from Dark Knight Returns used somewhere. I'd be a little more excited if it is some antagonistic relationship like that. EDIT: Ah, there we go. So, yeah, expect Batman vs. Superman.
  14. Well, I got the enhanced edition, which includes all the 'status effect' tiles; it's just remembering to use them/not being lazy. We only encountered a problem one time when we had to completely reset one guy's turn because we hadn't included the 'damaged received -1' for all the citizens (minions) where Citizen Dawn was the villain (you also have to remember she also counts as a citizen for certain game conditions, which we picked up on in-time). If you have Android there's a useful, free 'SOTM Sidekick' app, as well as a randomizer. iTunes has Sentinels Sidekick, which allows you to track all hitpoints simultaneously, but it's not free...or as pretty. Going into it, I only had a basic idea of what each hero did, so it was funny seeing my friend gradually realise that he had almost no means of dealing damage and was purely support/interference, or another time a friend drew a new card and discovered a whole load of things they could do in one turn.
  15. MY BEAUTIFUL THREAD! WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOOOONE?!
  16. If you're into 'designer' card games, specifically co-op ones (and superhero-themed), then Sentinels of the Multiverse is a lot of fun.

    1. P4: Gritty Reboot

      P4: Gritty Reboot

Been wanting to try it. I know Johnny (may he RIP) loves it.

    2. Waldorf and Statler

      Waldorf and Statler

I prefer Yu Gi Oh. Then I can pretend to hold in my hands the single most important children's card game in existence, at least according to the anime

  17. Played Sentinels of the Multiverse for the first time with four friends. That was a lot of fun. It takes a little getting used to all the little things that come into play (damage dealt +1 for certain villains, environment damages everything at the end of a go, etc.), but it feels like a well-balanced RPG boss. My friends are all MMO veterans, so they grasped the tactical nature of things early on, and it's quite easy get a handle on each hero's strengths fairly quickly. Also had an app that was handy for tracking the villain's HP without switching around hit-point counters or anything like that. Did one game against a low difficulty boss, who got some killer cards early on, but was a cinch after that. Then we went against the highest difficulty boss in this pack, who again started strong due to their deck, but my character steadily became very useful (along with some proper teamwork and consultation) so I was a big damage-dealer and a decent support character. We did lose one hero during the game but that's because they were taking a risk whereby they could deal damage equal to the difference between their max HP and their current HP (which would've been a massive blow to the villain) but got delayed when another card made the villain immune and then unlucky with a bit of damage just before their go. Either way, if you like card games, superheroes and local co-op stuff, I highly recommend this.
  18. Started Darksiders. So far it just seems like God of War-type game but without any fluidity, which completely kills any enjoyment I might get from combat.
  19. It'll be a Snyder version of Batman, so it'll be a superninja. Either way, after Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises, my enthusiasm for future films is at an all-time low.
  20. Ha, wasn't really won over by that, but this is great.
  21. D'oh, sorry. Well, it was a jokey sort of spoiler, nothing too serious. I guess The World's End will have a long run, but I figure it's worth waiting for the home release of Pacific Rim, with all the extra stuff.
  22. Better to check the spread of user reviews. (But FLD seems to know more about the games anyway, so all is cool).
