  1. Some gameplay from Arkham Origins http://youtu.be/u8_qXtlExIs - Grapnel boost was a new experimental thing in Arkham City...and it's here in a prequel. Obviously, that's fine though. The game needs it. - The city looks really good with taller buildings and with wider gaps between some of them. - New enemy type means counters don't actually counter, they just block and require a follow-up. Seemed to ruin the flow of combat, but that could've just been the player trying to make it obvious...or just being rubbish. - New crime scene detective thing seems alright - New gadget looks fun. Glad to hear that version's a little overpowered though. - And I have to say, the voices sound fine to me.
  2. Never normally squee but...squueeee
  3. Started playing The Walking Dead, finished episode 1. QTEs are...lame, but the rest makes up for it. Also, interesting to see I was in the minority for all decisions except the last one.
  4. Thoughts from some more informed book readers? http://io9.com/daenerys-whole-storyline-on-game-of-thrones-is-messed-513189766
  5. Oh, look, wacky and colourful. That'll be a good game! Hey, anyone playing Gotham City Imposters?

  7. For me, Reach found the right balance. Things were still distinctive without being garish. Not that I ever disliked the overall look of the older games at all.

  9. Showed my dad pictures of GoT characters and asked him their names
  10. Graphics were better, art style was worse. We really need to play some multiplayer though!
  11. Murder, My Sweet. Another film noir from the collection. I'd actually finished reading the novel on which it is based the other day and was waiting to watch it. I have to say, it twists the story a little but the plot possibly holds up to scrutiny a bit better. I can't shake Humphrey Bogart as Phillip Marlowe, but Dick Powell does a decent enough job; especially since the story sees him get a little more ruffled than Bogart did. Apparently, the guy was mainly known for comedic roles before and he does a good job with the more typical Hollywood stuff, particularly the ending. Funny that I've watched two from which later films draw inspiration, but the older ones tend to be less daring and a little more sappy. Though, there was a particularly amusing 'doped up' sequence with some funny old-timey effects. They don't make 'em like they used to... Either way, it was an enjoyable watch and was a neat departure from the plot of the book while retaining some of the core elements. Just what you'd want from an adaptation, really.
  12. Wait, they had a character called 'Dick Tate'?
  13. He is a less than adequate entirely satisfying, in fact quite disappointing mighty, mod.
  14. Like I said. No other reason...
  15. He's the second son because he has an older brother AND NO OTHER REASON.
  16. Some of the UI elements may be absent, but you're not fooling anyone, Ubisoft. This is the same old 'follow the script, to the letter' nonsense all over again. I bet you have to stay inside the sometimes-different-sizes-because-their-voices-are-quieter/louder?! eavesdropping circle.
  17. Catching up on gameplay videos. Wasn't too fussed about this but then it got to the last part and I was reminded of Scarabs and Hornets and Warthogs (oh my!) and huge scale battles like that and I got excited.
  18. Gameplay looks decent. Still wish they'd make it a little less third-person-shootery but the action looks good. And it would appear they've broken free of that damn recharge nonsense.
  19. It's a trick. The PS4 stretches back a metre.
  20. Oh, and while I'm here posting silly gifs, I thought this was good to look back on. Along with the Karstark business, you can really see how being honourable like his father cost him dearly.
  21. As far as I'm aware, it's a standalone release. Essentially, like a GOTY edition. Would be pretty annoying to have just played it. I've not revisited Witcher 2 since there were updates and overhauls, and I hear there's another one in the works for the combat that sounds like a 'preview' of what Witcher 3 is doing (pirouettes instead of combat rolls, for example). EDIT: Ah, it's a mod by one of the gameplay designers, so not an automatic update.
  22. Keep getting this stuck in my head. That or the Magneto theme.
