  1. Wow... did he leave the crap outside or did you guys toss it out?
  2. Completed my 90's Christian ska collection with these. I love the art and they're good albums too. Also gifted VVVVVV to a Veteran for Memorial Day yesterday.
  3. Have you thought about a PXOD tie-in post? I think it'd be a cool place to see everything summarized.
  4. I can sympathize with both positions, but growing up on games like Civilization, Sim City, and various flight simulators has conditioned me to dig through manuals for anything that's not clear from the get-go. That being said, I don't habitually read the manual before trying to learn by experience.
  5. I uploaded one level's worth of gameplay footage.
  6. It's definitely worth a look. So far, the combat feels precise like an FPS, specifically Halo:CE, but still has some pretty frenetic action moments depending on how you approach the missions. Each level is pretty open, so you may have to destroy 4 alien statues or rescue 3 crewmembers, and you can go about it any order. The exploration element, secrets, and wildlife that can harm the player remind me of the Metroid series quite a bit. It's also got bot deathmatch and 4 or 5 arcade modes, plus mission "star" ratings to increase replayability.
  7. Anyone check this game out yet? It has cool art, and the characters have tons of combat/movement options. It's kinda hard to get a real handle on all the ways to fling through a level, but when you get it right you feel like Superman. It includes co-op and deathmatch on the same PC, a nice touch. My wife and I are a few missions into the campaign; I'll have a full review on PXOD soon. Official Website Steam Page
  8. I found the first to be somewhat stale, but I appear to be in the minority. The humor relies almost entirely on over-the-top vulgarities rather than clever situational humor or witty dialog. I must say that Zach Galifianakis' character was very funny though.
  9. Deus Ex yes, Invisible War is not worth the hard drive space.
  10. Spoiler-free Portal 2 review for your enjoyment, and just a month late to boot! - http://www.pressxordie.com/2011/05/26/review-portal-2/

  11. Almost finished up Dragon Quest IX, then discovered the randomized dungeons. I'll never put this game down...

  12. Have you tried the free one? It's awesome. At least give it a try and then pick up the paid one if you like it.
  13. Valve is sponsoring a Portal 2 mapping contest. I'm glad we're going to be seeing a lot of (hopefully) good community content going forward. http://www.thinkwithportals.com/blog.php?id=5539&p=1
  14. Awesome, Dean. My Toshiba NB205 runs older or indie PC games quite well, which makes it pretty awesome for on-the-go gaming. Also, there are a few third party programs out there that will change your desktop image even though W7 Starter doesn't do it out of the box.
  15. Yeah, they say that every time. Their idea of a "push" for Vista was to release a crappy port of a three-year old XBOX game without XP support.
  16. Wahoo finally got signed into Google Docs. I'll have some articles coming within the week.
  17. - Open-world singleplayer CRPG with a Lord of the Rings license. Can't believe how much utter crap gets put out under the LOTR name when this still hasn't been done. - Maybe this could be done in a Left 4 Dead mod, but something like the L4D versus mode, except instead of the infected side controlling one character each, they are all controlled by one guy in a top-down RTS-style. The fog of war can black out the survivors' exact locations, and units available to spawn are regenerated in a balanced fashion (just like the actual Vs. mode). So you've got X number of special zombies you can deploy at any given moment, Y number of hordes you can send in, and big units like the Tank or Witch are like superweapons in the Command & Conquer series, very slowly regenerating. For the commander, it would be similar to DMing.
  18. I laughed out loud in both Portal 2 and No One Lives Forever 2, but yeah, straightforward humor is pretty hard to come by for the most part.
  19. Game Type: RPG Parody Description: A humorous, tongue-in-cheek role-playing game done in the classic 16-bit JRPG style, with a four-person party and turn-based battle system. The twist is that every quest you are given is unable to be completed until you run an errand for someone else, so that by the end of the game you are 100 times removed from the original goal. It would go something like this: Player awakens, has amnesia, is told that he's the only one who can kill the Big Bad and save the world, so he must retrieve the Tear-Covered Sword of Sorrow from the Mountain of Misery. When he gets there, the gate is locked, so he is told he must retreive the key from the Black Wizard (who is, you know, black), so the Wizard has the key but first wants him to kill the miniature rats that have been stealing his crops, but the rats need a special pesticide that's only available in the next town over, Vitrol Village (everyone there is angry)... etc etc etc for 30 hours. The payoff is that at the end, you get the final item that you need, you have 100 quest items, and you go back through the game world rapidly completing all your quests that you started dozens of hours before in a chain until you finally go to kill the Big Bad and... I don't know, something funny. Maybe he wasn't bad at all, just misunderstood? Or he's died of old age waiting for someone to attack him?
  20. CDP to announce brand new project at E3 this year. Can't wait to see what they've come up with. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/24/witcher-2-developers-to-announce-new-project-at-e3-2011/
  21. The subtitle to this thread makes me laugh. Most excellent.
  22. It was just the aiming that felt wonky, at least on PC. Still a great game, and I'm having a decent enough time with Bioshock 2.
  23. I thought they actually said xp next to the numbers.
  24. Apparently a lot of people had trouble with this boss. I never understood it, I always just breezed past him. There were a few other bosses that gave me trouble, though. Just focus all your attacks on the Beast itself, and if you've upgraded your steel sword abilities, you should be fine. Throw an Aard sign in there occasionally, too. What specifically are you having trouble with? Just beat it, thanks for the help.
  25. I don't have a problem with it, but I would have done more like it if I had originally thought it was allowed.
