  1. I think the potential for disappointment is big with this one. Huge. Of epic proportions.
  2. This is why I love RPS - they're not afraid to be a little skeptical, as opposed to the Kotaku-esque rah-rah before a game comes out, only to pan it or even create controversy after launch.
  3. Some excellent and diverse picks. Can't wait to see the rest of the list if these games are only 49th.
  4. Yeah. It's like giving Left 4 Dead a bad review for its single-player experience; that's not the point. At the same time, I believe some of the promotion for this game focused on the single-player a little, so that could be a valid complaint if someone thought he was purchasing a full-on single-player campaign.
  5. Got something specific in mind, GOH?
  6. Two nights ago, I had a wonderful dream that I found a bunch of N64 cartridges for 50 cents each and picked up a bunch of rare and expensive games. So, hoping my dream was some sort of bizarre supernatural premonition, I headed to the thrift store after work. While they did have a copy of Wario's Woods for SNES, I don't yet have a Super Nintendo, so that was worthless to me. Rummaging through the clear plastic box in front of me, I beheld a glorious sight however: Pokemon Snap for $5. Light shone from the heavens (thrift store is getting roof work done) upon the dusty cart, and I slapped it down on the counter and whispered, "Hit me," a single tear making its way down the side of my face. --- Just picked this up for $2 with free shipping on Amazon Prime. I'm sure I have another copy lying around somewhere, but this was easier.
  7. Anybody know if Raven Shield's online service still works (PC)?

    1. Pirandello

      Pirandello

From what I remember, there are some online communities that still play together on it using networking programs.

  8. I don't like the sound of that... Hopefully it just means they're adding more fully-featured nightclubs!
  9. Yeah, the barnacles, but also anything that drags you to the ceiling, like the Wallmasters in Ocarina of Time. Speaking of Ocarina of Time, this freaked me out as a kid:
  10. Underwater enemies, especially ones you can't see. Oh, and spiders that hang from the ceiling. Oh, and enemies that drag you to the ceiling. **Shudder**
  11. I don't think it'd necessarily ruin chance of expansion. We could see other SKU's, SD card expansion as rumored, or USB memory support. I'd prefer that actually as it would mean a lower cost system, plus I can use my 1 TB external hard drive that currently houses my Wii games. I don't think the storage solution alone could kill Nintendo like that. Plus, it's more than likely that "saving their cash" isn't an option at this point considering much of the R&D budget must have been blown on this already. Now it's just a matter of manufacturing the sucker and getting it into consumers' minds and homes.
  12. Other than the potential cost difference, I suppose I could see there being a size, noise, and heat issue. Nothing that the PS3 and 360 haven't overcome though obviously.
  13. I don't pretend to know what a gigantic company's memory costs might be, but wouldn't 8 gigs of flash memory be as expensive as a modest hard drive? Curious why they would do this (assuming the rumor to be true of course.)
  14. PC Gamer just posted this article. Some of these have been mentioned earlier in this thread as well. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/03/20-free-pc-games-you-must-play/
  15. The ever-wonderful Kotaku is reporting that the Wii "Feel" or Project Cafe will not have a hard disc drive, but instead will sport 8 gigs of flash memory as well as SD card expansion. It seems full downloadable games would be out of the question, then, though DLC and classic games would obviously still be viable. They are also reporting up to 25 gigs of storage on each Wii game disc. http://ca.kotaku.com/5797890/nintendos-next-console-will-enter-the-hd-era-but-not-the-hard+drive-era
  16. Pokemon Black. Just beat the Elite Four/the champion to end the main story. There is still a ton of postgame stuff to do though...
  17. Hydro-Thunder style game for the arcade, old 16-bit-ish graphics, it had you do these runs and then at the end of each mission you could upgrade your vehicle with weapons or speed and stuff like that. The cabinet I played it on was a covered sit-in thing with a steering wheel. Any ideas?
  18. Left 4 Dead 1 edges out 2 for me. Also, I hate vampires.
  19. Saturnine, I think I've seen you playing DOTP on Steam? Is it any good?
  20. http://m.kotaku.com/5797142/free-portal-2-content-brings-new-test-chambers-and-challenge-modes-this-summer Yeeeeeesss!!!
  21. I believe Equip is a "Sorcery-speed" keyword, meaning it could only be used during your main phase and not in response to a spell like that, unless your creature had an ability that allowed it to be attached right away (like pay 1 mana, search your hand for an equipment card and equip to target creature or something like that).
  22. The Source engine was designed from the ground up to be modular, meaning they can replace individual elements as they begin to age. Compare early 2003 HL2 screenshots to Portal 2 and you'll see what I mean. That being said, I think we'll see a major overhaul before HL3. (So pre-2016) Edit: Comparison below. I'd also like to add that Source engine games tend to be understated, going for muted colors and higher-res textures rather than overdoing effects like bloom and lens flares, etc. Portal 2, 2011 Half-Life 2, 2003 shot (I believe)
  23. The map made Chrono Trigger so much better. I had tried SNES ROM's before but finally caved and beat the DS version earlier this year. For me, the story, characters, and battle system all pushed it to greatness. I've been playing Dragon Quest IX, Pokemon Black, Portal 2, HL2: Episode 2, Batman:AA, Epic Mickey, Red Steel 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and A Boy and His Blob. All good games with varying degrees of greatness.
