  1. The video is a joke. I thought most people would get it by the point it says that if you go to a sushi-ya alone, you should always show a little guilt in your eyes.
  2. I still need to see it. My favorite series so far is GitS: SAC, but my friend just went through Evangelion and said it was great so I'll probably watch it next. Evangelion is meant to be watched in the same way it was written: tripping serious balls on mushrooms.
  3. It's serious insofar as it is meant to be a place to discuss Japanese culture. My first post and poll do, however, contain some modicum of levity. Edit: I do appreciate the irony of being asked whether I'm serious by someone whose avatar is a woman bouncing her breasts around.
  4. Here's a place to gab about Nihon. Fun fact; although the Kanji for Japan means "rising sun", the words "Nihon" and "Nippon" are actually derived from the word meaning "two cylindrical-ish objects", referring to the original two islands occupied by Japanese people. Also, here's a comprehensive and insightful video about Japanese cultural traditions involving the 鮨屋, or sushi joint.
  5. By the time MS and Sony remove access to your digital single player games, your PS3 and 360 will likely be RROD'd or YLOD'd, but I do understand your hesitance to purchase digital console games. I have all my D2D games backed up safer than they would be if they were on disc. IIRC, GOGames stuff can also be downloaded and backed up on media of your choice as well. Valve has promised to provide users with playable versions of their Steam games if Steam ever shuts down. But I suppose it's your right not to trust Valve. But if you can't trust them, then what company can you trust?
  6. I disliked Prototype. I could never tell what the fuck was going on except that it was ugly and strange. Playing it feels like taking some terrible drug that reduces my mental capacity and speeds up my perception of time while giving me hideous hallucinations.
  7. I'm not defending shitty localizations. I was just surprised that she cared enough about the Japanese Mass Effect port specifically to go on a little mini-rant about it, given that it doesn't directly affect her. That's all. I'm not even surprised that she cares (though I realize my initial post wasn't worded properly to get my actual question across), just at how much she cares. The real question is: why do you care that she cares?
  8. FFXIII had a really shitty Western localization. All of Vanille's girly grunts/moans/vocalizations should have been translated; to a Western audience, she sounds developmentally disabled or like a four year old. Also, that game should have never been made. But I digress.
  9. New York pizza with California veggies, bitches.

    1. Commander Shepard

      Commander Shepard

I skipped lunch today so I could sneak in a nap. I am hating you as hard as I can through my monitor. So hungry...

I skipped lunch, too. That's why I awarded myself with two slices of cajun pizza for din-din.

    3. Pirandello

      Pirandello

I like pizza with Greek ingredients. Best damn pizza I ever had.

  10. Love it. I will have one, too, someday.
  11. This game represents my loss of innocence and the start of my strong feelings against the consolization of RPG's. I loved Baldur's Gate 2. I wanted more of that sort of RPG goodness. When I got a lackluster fighting game with a short campaign and forgettable characters I was sorely disappointed. Indeed, Jade Empire might be one of the more disappointing games in my life. It aslo was my final D2D purchase before I switched fully over to Steam.
  12. Snowfall is especially pretty and poignant when you're drunk of your ass and the whole world's colored maudlin.

  13. I LIKE Poker Night. I do, too, Señor Jack. I do, too. But I feel real dirty about it. :shifty:
  14. Extreme envy, right here. Really? It'll quite a modest evening in any regard. You must lead a very difficult life, Mr. TheForgetfulBrain. Very difficult, indeed, if you envy me for my meager comforts.
  15. No, it is not wrong to envy the snowpocalypse. I plan on spending tomorrow night all cozied up at home with warm cocoa and a book or Netflix Instant Watch movie.
  16. I've been chilling and surfing the web. Gonna go out and lay in some food supply here in a few minutes. I need to be ready for the Great Blizzard of 2011. Good thing I have 3 grocery stores within a block.
  17. Is it normal to feel remorse for liking Poker Night at the Inventory?
  18. 8 Bit Zappa's been on my mind. Here's my fave of the bunch. If you like dirty songs with complex chord structure and great pop hooks, you should check out the original. Speaking of excellent pop songs... I love the original Hey Ya (my favorite song of 2000-2010), but I dig this cover the most.
  19. Bookshelves for the stuff I have with me, cardboard shipping boxes for the vast majority in storage. Really, though, most of my PC games are stored on my hard drive and, virtually, in Valve's computers.
  20. It depends. Subscriptions make sense when there's a huge userbase who re-up each month. Cash store, on the other hand, favors the intensity and competitiveness of a userbase rather than its size. So the bigger the userbase is, the more apt a subscription model. The more intense it is, the more apt a cash store. These two payment methods are not exclusive; I think the next big MMORPG will feature a hybrid system so that it can milk as much money as it can from the userbase.
  21. True dat. You'd think would have picked up some tips from the professional makeup people who worked on her when she was on TV. Then again, I never watched that show, so she could have been put in clown makeup for every episode, for all I know.
  22. I like Mike, Owen, Stephen and Lisa. I like Mike for his hatred for and reviews of MMORPG's and his unabashed regular dude-ness. He reminds me of friends from my post-college days of lassitude and drinking. Owen seems pretty chill most of the time, and is probably the best writer of the regular bunch. Stephen is inoffensive and a good writer. His videos of him rapping are hilarious I also like his way of being viciously sarcastic yet mild-mannered. Lisa is actually a pretty decent writer. She has a tendency to go for corniness a little too often, but I attribute that to her Nickelodeon sketch show roots. Although I might perhaps be a smidgeon too kind to Lisa because she is an attractive female gamer and I am a single (so lonely!) male and we're both around the same age.
  23. Hey, what happened to my thread for bitching about Kotaku? Was it New Vegased for cursing?
  24. Maybe his Cornell degree is in Agriculture? Oooh, better get some ointment for that burn! But, no, it's in journalism or creative writing, I'm pretty sure. Although whenever he mentions Cornell, I do get the image of Andy from The office stuck in my mind.
