  1. We call those people Donald J. Trump, among other things.
  2. Well, the institutions of the political parties were not strong enough to prevent a madman from getting elected, for starters. That the madman and his party repeatedly vow to bring down the institutions you claim are strong indicates that the public doesn't believe in those institutions. Since institutions rely on public support for their strength, I'd take the election as a sign of their weakness.
  3. I think your objections are to the art direction and character design, Ethan. It ain't the engine.
  4. Depends. If PE2 repeats PE's performance, you could get a 40%-50% over let's say 4 or 5 years. That's not bad at all, it's about equal to the return you'd get if your investment grew 9% or 10% each year with a compound interest rate, which is nuts for most short-term investments.
  5. True; the heads and animation look weird in a different way than in the original trilogy.
  6. I am perplexed as to how faith in institutions is any comfort when the government is expressly set on dismantling those very same institutions. That Turmp was elected should be a sign that our institutions are not as strong as we thought.
  7. So, it's following all Mass Effect traditions?
  8. yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm backing it. Edit : Oh, cool, the investment side information is also open. Neat to examine, but I'm not putting down money as an investment, because I ain't rich enough to be an accredited investor, and I bet they'll hit the regulation cap on non-accredited investors pretty fast. Fun legal facts! Under SEC regulations, any unregistered company making an interstate public offering of securities may only accept at most 35 individual investors who are non-accredited. Accredited investors are those who made more than $200k last year (or $300k if joint income) and are worth at least $1 million dollars. I am certain Fig is bound by the regulation and will cap plebian investors. Plus, shares start at $1k. I'd rather put that money in a long-term investment. I don't need to diversify by investing in individual video games...I think. Hmmm.
  9. New trailer and new recruitment vid up. http://io9.gizmodo.com/new-mass-effect-andromeda-trailer-gives-best-look-yet-1791657820
  10. Thanks for the PS4 exclusive suggestions! I'm getting blood borne, until dawn, and infamous second son. Also going to get a new 2TB internal hdd at some point soon.

  11. So our president is in favor of torture. Wonderful.
  12. Yeah, that person is wrong. The GOP and Trump will use federal law and the courts to override progressive state laws and, especially, state regulations under the Supremacy Clause. The Bush administration did it, and the Trump administration will do it big time.
  13. Aw, I wanted to read an endless argument about the nonsensical inter-game Zelda timeline!
  14. I'm enjoying Mass Effect 3; my fears were unfounded. It's messier, in ways, than ME2, but everything except the overall narrative is better than ME2. I kinda miss having a million party members, but the increased focus has been good. Ugh, I wish Bioware games didn't try to shoehorn in MP.
  15. Now that I'm getting a PS4, what PS4 or console exclusives should I look for in the used game section? I will already be looking for Until Dawn, but what else is out there and worth playing?

The Ratchet and Clank remaster thing was aces. Tearaway Unfolded is a great platformer. Until Dawn if you like your Heavy Rain-esque games. InFamous: First Light if you liked Second Son and want more of that stuff.

Yes you can buy it digitally, but I like to have discs just because I like to have discs. That said, I'm selling it because I like $120 more.

Well shit, Amazon won't let me list it because my account doesn't have permission to sell refurbished items, even though I'm not trying to sell it as refurbished...

  16. Episode 8 is called The Last Jedi.
  17. It's funny how you guys totally voted an masse to become Airstrip One.
  18. I'll be trading in my ps3 and 360 and all the games this week as part of my pre-move decluttering. Decided to get this because we really need a Blu-Ray player and I really need to play Red Dead Redemption 2 this year.
  19. It's definitely true there were more marchers today than there were people at the inauguration. All evidence supports that there were a lot more people out today.
  20. Me too. But tourists from Bumfuck, Nebraska, love guns and military uniforms, as fascists are wont to do.
  21. There are sometimes police at some subway entrances who do random bag checks. It was instituted after 9/11. I've never had my bag checked and only rarely seen them stop anyone. My subway station near My office in Brooklyn often has a pair. Unlike in the video, they're always inside the station and usually have a table set up. They also don't carry rifles. It's cheaper to film a street scene than one in a subway station, though. Major Manhattan subway stops, usually those connected to proper train stations or near huge tourist attractions, used to have national guard troops (not police) guarding them outside an in, but I haven't seen that for a few years. I think they're deployed in response to terrorist attacks (even foreign ones in Europe) to make tourists feel safer. It's security theater.
  22. This is the TV Show thread, not the book thread!!! BAN ETHAN!!!! But, yes, the Expanse books are pretty fun and interesting. Fun fact: the narrative universe was originally created for a never-finished miniatures/board game by one of the co-authors ( Jame S.A. Corey is the pen name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). Second fun fact: one of the co-authors (Abraham, I believe) works closely with GRRM on Game of Thrones continuity issues for the novel series. Also, I really enjoyed Abraham's Long Price Quarter of fantasy novels. Also, the Expanse TV show is pretty decent for its limitations.
  23. Nope, but the issue is about whether somebody's friendliness implies disrespect, and it does not. I'm more likely to be friendly with someone I respect, though.
  24. Only a Brit (or a German) would say "friendly" implies "not respectable." With Republican control of congress, Trump can and will do an enormous amount of damage.
