I am excited for JW2: the Rewickening
-
I don't know. The flaws in R1 are more obvious, particularly regarding weak storytelling and creating characters with whom the audience builds an emotional connection. TFA's weaknesses have to do mostly with convenient storytelling and handwave-y and vaguely unearned development of Rey's Force powers. I like Rey, but her use of Force powers without training makes it seem like she's even more of a Chosen One than Luke. Otherwise, TFA tells a consistent story with good emotional throughlines; I just did not find it as exciting or interesting as R1. But I am a total nerd and I love fun stories that also do a lot of worldbuilding, and TFA has very weak worldbuilding. That said, I think R! was technically superior in many aspects, including the clarity and excitement of the final battle. Not since Endor has a Star Wars battle both made (in-universe) sense and been exciting. Hell, it may be one of the best battle sequences from any movie in decades.

I have tons of nostalgia for Jedi, so it's difficult for me to rank it so low, but every time I see it, or parts of it, I'm reminded of how not good a lot of it is.

Nice! I heard that NG+ will allow you to use both Emily's and Corvo's powers on the same run. If so, that's super awesome.

I really, really liked Rogue One, even though its clear a lot of the story was subject to reshoots and editing. It definitely did not feel like a main line Star Wars movie, but it felt like a legitimate story about that universe and really did a lot to flesh out what the Empire and the Rebel Alliance actually are. In the OT, the Rebel Alliance feels like a recurring plot device without an independent identity. The Empire is a little more interesting in the OT, but R1 deepens it. It is very, very clear that the high-level production team had read this fantastic essay in the Atlantic about Captain/Admiral Piett in the OT, and I suggest you all read it, too: http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2015/12/the-ballad-of-admiral-piett/420570/ More detailed commentary behind the spoiler tag. This is my third favorite Star Wars movie. In order from favorite to least favorite, mine are: Empire, A New Hope, Rogue 1, the Force Awakens, Jedi, Sith, Clones, and Phantom. The last three are all shit, however. I plan to see it again in a week or so.

Nice to know that the Switch is roughly as capable, graphics-wise, as a tablet or a terrible Android 'console'. It is refreshing, though, that Nintendo isn't hopping on the 4k gaming bandwagon.
-
Well, that was your bad choice to make, Thursday.
-
I enjoyed it more than TFA but am not sure if it was a better-constructed movie.
-
Rogue One. Fucking awesome. I'll put my full thoughts over in the star wars thread, but I liked it way more than TFA.

Pretty sure the video and the Yorkshire accent have weird stresses on certain syllables.
-
But... You just described the Yorkshire dialect.

Are the issues with his pronunciation or the meaning of the phrases?

I've been playing Watch Dogs 2 and Dishonored 2. Loving them both. Trying not to kill anyone in either. I never played the Dishonored 1 DLC, or even finished it, so the witches in Dishonored 2 surprised me. Am I missing significant lore about them?

Yeah, the PSTV and Vita were terrible. Can't imagine why anyone thought the PSTV would be any good at all. Early adoption of gimmicky platforms almost never works out. So, y'all getting a Switch?

Yes; Trump will build an embassy in Jerusalem.

I had a broken digital clock that just read 88:88. Damn thing was never right.

They'll support controllers on PC. They did for the last Dragon age, so that bodes well.

I'd be surprised to see any major or central Rebels characters showing up in the movies in any central way. I bet there may be oblique references or visual easter eggs to them, but that's it. Also, I am hyped for Rogue One. Gonna see it at the local Alamo Draft House Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

It is WAY better than the first one in every way, so far. Very different tone. Hacking gameplay much better.
-
Yeah, the sub figured out 90% of the twists a long time ago. There's a twist in the last 15 minutes that may have been predicted, but I didn't see it anywhere.
-
Broke down and bought it. Played a couple hours and it is super fun. I like the tone of its satire better than I do GTA's, and I love GTA V. Also, it runs super well on mostly ultra on my new rig and old-ish GTX 970 at 1080p.

Looks more System Shock than BioShock, but I get ya. It does not look like the original Prey at all.
-
Don't worry; it will also be Skyrim for babies.
-
Should port it to PC if they're serious.
