  1. Game of Thrones Season 1. Best Telltale game.
  2. Starting my second playthrough, this time in Very Hard. Now it feels like a proper challenge. I actually have to avoid supermutants when I'm wandering in the northern areas of the map.
  3. Fallout 4. Rolling up my next character tonight. I really liked the game, but I was underwhelmed by the end game. it seemed easy and was not too exciting.
  4. Faction choice point of no return stuff behind spoiler, but still very general (I identify the possible factions and state their incompatibilities and a general statement about how the game lets the player know that a faction is is pissed off ONLY; I don't identify specific quest lines or anything like that):
  5. Fair enough. I was just wondering because I've seen lots of commentary about how FO4 is harder than 3 or NV, and I heartily disagree. It's not a bad thing, I'm just confused by such statements. Definitely going to do my second run on a much higher difficulty level, though.
  6. By the way, what difficulty is everyone playing on? I'm on Normal, and it seems super easy.
  7. You have to give them ammo for any weapon other than the default. I had to give Piper 10mm ammo to get her to use an upgraded unique 10mm pistol, even though her default weapon is a regular 10mm pistol. I had no problems completing Confidence Man in PC.
  8. Ethan: Jack: Bacon:
  9. What factions has everyone joined?
  10. I only noticed that the companions equip the guns you give them recently. It looks like they pick up ammo for the weapons on their own, too.
  11. I don't recall, but if you highlight an item in a companion's inventory that s/he can equip, the button designation will appear below the inventory window alongside the designations for "take," "take all," "inspect," etc. Most of the companions' default armors are full suits that don't allow you to put arm and leg pieces over them, so make sure to keep around some thin clothing to keep them warm and decent if you equip complex armor.
  12. Yup, found him in a random doghouse in a backyard. Minigun recovered!
  13. I'm loving it so far. I'm about level 19 and I've explored most of the NW quarter of the map. I've read a bunch of posts and article complaining about the early game and encouraging people to make a beeline for Diamond City and I whoelheartedly disagree. There's a lot of level-appropriate and fun adventuring to be done before you got to Fenway. TCP: You gotta balance SPECIAL stat buys with perk buys. The weapon damage perks are good, judging by the immediate significant increase in damage I got when I put a point in the rifle perk (which also covers shotguns). The crafting perks for weapons and armor are necessary, too. Putting points in hacking and lockpicking makes dungeon navigation much easier as well. Dean: the game detects when you're aiming at a limb and cripples/destroys the correct limb. Some guns are better at it than others, it seems, and shooting from the hip is not very accurate, so you may be pointing your gun at the enemy's leg but actually end up hitting the torso or arm. It sorta works like previous Fallouts if you had few points in a given gun skill, the spread was really bad. Some guns and mods also hurt the spread of a weapon. I definitely destroy enemies' legs on the regular when I aim for them with a precise weapon. Biggest and only real glitch so far: I dismissed Dogmeat in Diamond City in favor o f a new companion. I sent him to Sanctuary, but he never showed up and he has a bunch of my stuff, including a minigun. Edit: Oh, and it runs well on my laptop on ultra settings, too. This will make my trip to the in-laws for Thanksgiving a lot more palatable.
  14. Fallout 4 is on my mind, X-Talk. Can't stop thinking about my next jaunt through the wasteland. Only 9.5 more hours until I can play it again.

I dunno. Witcher 3 was pretty badass and was better written and acted, at least so far.

  15. Played for four or so hours on PC and have not yet encountered any real bugs.
  16. Apparently a shitty budget PC plays FO4 better than either console. http://www.geek.com/games/a-budget-gaming-pc-plays-fallout-4-better-than-consoles-1638999/
  17. That's an odd bundle, dean.
  18. Wasn't it just the teaser with Shepard's message?
  19. It's weird having a Bioware-style voiced dialogue system in FO4, but I'm down with it, I guess.

I'm not sure I understand but regarding the charisma-based responses, isn't that how it worked since 3 (I can't remember % chances in 2 or earlier)? It shows a %chance based on your speech skill.

I think in FO3 it showed your skill percentage or other stat that unlocked the dialogue choice. I think you auto failed or succeeded based on your skill percentage.

I'm not a huge fan that if you turn your mouse too far away from them the convo stops and you have to do it all again.

  20. PC users can use a VPN to unlock steam games early. Essentially, my IP address is from Australia for today because it unlocked there at 8am EST. Valve doesn't do anything to folks who unlock early this way, but they will ban your account if you use a VPN to buy a game from a cheaper foreign store. But now I have a long day, the gym, then chores at home. I won;t be able to play again until at least 10 EST. But, so far, it's definitely a Fallout game and I like it.
  21. It ran buttery smooth on my PC on ultra when I ran through the first 45 minutes this morning. Had to go to work, so no more playing until later tonight.
  22. It was kinda dumb more than negative. It sounds like he wouldn't have liked any previous Fallout game because he thought the early game was too difficult and that there was not much motivation for the PC to do anything in the early game. You could say that for any Bethesda open-world game if you don't like the heavy emphasis on exploration and shenanigans that makes Bethesda games Bethesda games. It'd be like saying Forza is a bad game because racing is a pointless activity. It's a valid opinion, but it's not a useful review.
  23. My theory, informed by the spoilery International business times review that was up briefly today, though the spoilers relate only to the main thrust of the quest (it would be like spoiling FO3 by saying it's about finding your missing father, or New Vegas by saying it's about finding out who shot you in the head and why): Non-spoilery theory: The Brohood faction in FO4 is a splinter faction of the Midwestern Brohood and not the Capital Wasteland Brohood. Alt theory: there are two Brohood factions, one from the Midwest/West and another from the Capital Wasteland and they are at odds with each other. My guess would be the Capital Wasteland Brohood will be minor compared to the other Brohood faction.
  24. So much cheese. This is gonna be terrible.
  25. Edit: How did I miss Deanb's post? My mistake.
