  1. I expected it to be 40 USD because it seemed like a limited-scope game. I don't have any problem with it being 60 USD, since that means it will be 35 USD on cdkeys or GMG before too long. Either way, I was planning to wait for reviews before buying as I'm on the fence about non-narrative open-world games.
  2. It's what we get with a fundamentally broken political system in a large and diverse country, actually. I like Sanders more than Clinton, but I think he overstates his ability to get anything he proposes done in the face of a GOP-controlled Congress (and the GOP will control congress for a while since GOP statehouses have gerrymandered congressional districts to hell). I do think his differences with Clinton on foreign policy matters are important and I will vote for him for that reason alone.
  3. In my view, Kasich is the Republican most likely to get Republican-ass shit done if he were President, so there's no way in hell I'd vote for him. In fact, Trump is the only one who might not try to appoint the reanimated corpse of Scalia to the Supreme Court. That said, I fully expect there to be a new President Clinton next January regardless of who wins the nomination.
  4. I like the Green Party, but ever since 2000 I have been leery of voting for them in a national election. But why Kasich? If I were registered in the GOP, I would 100% vote for Trump because he is bringing chaos to the party I vote against.
  5. I know our politics are very similar; that's why I'm ribbing you about belonging to the GOP. I don't think I could cast a vote for any of the GOP contenders for president, though. Then again, I have the luxury of knowing my vote won't count in anything except contested city and state office primaries. And NY has two primaries aside from the national primary this year . Shit, that reminds me that I need to get an absentee ballot for the presidential primary.
  6. Also works if, instead of media orgs, you put in GOP candidates' heads. He's the modern Teflon Don indeed. And now that I think about it, Ethan's logic does not apply to presidential primaries, so he must really be a Republican. Not that being a Republican means anything anymore now that the party is eating itself alive.
  7. Yeah, They shoulda ditched Fable Legends long ago.
  8. Fair enough. That's why I'm registered as a Democrat in NYC even though I dislike the national party.
  9. I had no idea Ethan was a Republican.
  10. Have people realized that this will just be Spore 2 yet?
  11. If Cruz ends up as President, it will all be Ethan's fault. At least it will in my mind because I don't know anyone else in Kansas.
  12. I trust GMG over cdkeys. But I do buy codes on cdkeys when it's the cheapest. Edit: I plan to buy FC: Primal using cdkeys, even. Once I'm finished with Stardew Valley, of course.
  13. Data caps are weird. Where are y'all that you have them? I've lived in rural Iowa, rural Wisconsin, and in multiple cities in the Midwest and on the East Coast and I have never had internet with a data cap that was not cell phone internet (for a very short while I had a 4g 'modem' while letting a room from someone with no internet when I first came to NYC). Edit: Oh, I didn't realize Quantum Break also featured live-action episodes that look fairly shitty. Can't blame them for streaming the video, though, since sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many gamers stream Netflix and Amazon and Hulu with wild abandon. In fact, it's probably a smart idea, if the episodes are truly like TV episodes and not live-action cut scenes.
  14. Clinton would be like Obama, part 2, with a little less racial justice at home and a little more killing of brown people abroad.
  15. Oh, no, Stardew Valley is going to destroy my social life and free time.

Yep, been obsessed with this game. It actually is harming my desire to make new friends in this new city. But I made a decision to put myself out there next weekend

Friends will end up disappointing you, at best. Video games will never let you down.

With games like these, who needs enemies?...I mean friends. D:

  16. Does it have controller support? That's usually a good indication of how eager a dev may be to get Sony (or maybe Nintendo's????) eye.
  17. I bought SUPERHOT and it is totally rad and worth the $20 I paid.
  18. Enjoy the series while the good times last, TCP. It goes downhill after a few books.
  19. I'm reading this thread right now. #hopenoonealreadymakdethisjokeeventhoughthealmostcertainlyhave
  20. Rise of the Tomb Raider. I've been stuck at home sick since Saturday, so I decided to finish this. Got all the side tombs, finished the campaign with a 74% completion. Neat game, kinda wish it had deeper combat and a wider variety of enemies. I also wish there were actually difficult puzzles or traversal areas.
  21. What's most hilarious is that the Republicans try to justify about 90% of their policy stances on the Bible. They are the party of Mammon *and* Jesus.
  22. Deadpool. Saw it after all the hype of it's record-breaking weekend. While it was more competently made than the usual February movie garbage, and better than any standalone Wolverine movie, it was far from perfect. The humor was a bit too facile for me; it was at its best when it makes fun of superhero and moviemaking tropes (his gleeful expectation of Carano's superhero jump and landing was pretty great) and it was at its worst when making dated and not-very-funny references or engaging in the dumbest of body humor ( like the bullet hole in his ass). Some of the body humor was pretty funny, such as when Deadpool broke his wrists and ankles punching and kicking Colossus, which was a very clever way to establish that Deadpool does not have super-strength or resilience; he just heals very quickly. The villains were boring and made very little sense, too. Who was Francis; was he a scientist or a mercenary? Why did Gina Carano work with him? Where are all these super-powered slaves ending up? Why didn't he keep any for himself? I chalk a lot of this up to the relatively low budget, but in other areas the writers made it work; it was amusing when Deadpool called out that only Neg and Colossus ever seemed to be at Xavier's. And what was the deal with his roommate? I udnerstand they have a weird relationship in the comics, but she just seems to be an extra pointless character for Deadpool to be mean to in the movie. I wonder how the sequels will deal with Morena Baccarin going forward. it seems like Deadpool has gotten everything he wants (since she doesn't mind his appearance) and has a strong relationship with someone to keep him grounded. What will motivate him in future movies?

    XCOM 2

I'm playing through this again on Veteran in Ironman mode and it is very intense and, at times, frustrating. I'm actually on my third Iron Man campaign; I lost one irrevocably after about 8 missions, and I lost the second one after my my entire squad died on the first mission. I love this game. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more cautious on Ironman mode. It's bitten me on the ass a few times when I've run out of time on timed missions, but I'm playing much more efficiently since I've gotten used to the harshness of the RNG.
  24. "My mom said she remembers when she was a kid a few of her friends still had party line telephones (one phone line shared between multiple houses), which is super weird to me, and probably exactly how my kids will feel about the fact that I remember when each household had just one phone line shared for everyone who lived there. Sometimes two if you were fancy and had a teenager or didn't want to be constantly kicked off the internet." More like they'll think it's weird that a phone number is tied to a specific location. I mean, I'm 34 and I think it's anachronistic and fussy to have location-based phone numbers. Edit: driverless self-driving cars will be big in cities as cabs and private car services. Liability for accidents will be on the manufacturers'/programmers' heads, I'd imagine, rather than the driver's. I also imagine insurance policies for self-driving cars will one day be way cheaper than policies for human-driven cars.
