The Revenant. Brutal but entertaining. Beautifully shot.

It's not a real Cloverfield sequel, I've heard. There are rumblings from indie movie folks that it's a low budget horror/thriller movie that was fully shot and edited sometime in 2014 for Paramount's low-budget film distribution subsidiary, which was shut down before 2015. The rumors also seem to be that new schenes were written, shot, and shoehorned in during early 2015 to make it related to Cloverfield.

Just her heart, TFG.

The only way an AoS character is making it into the movies is if it's Coulson or as a very, very quick cameo, perhaps only in the background or with one or two lines. It's more likely one of the Netflix characters shows up briefly, or participates in a big action scene in a minor way.

Yeah, no bluescreen and just a sudden restart while playing a game is most likely some sort of short on the mobo or a PSU problem. if the RAM or GPU or even CPU have issues, usually you will get a blue screen. A short or bad PSU will cut power, though, and cause an immediate restart.
-
Too bad FDS isn't around; he's better at diagnosing this sort of thing. But if it's a random restart of the whole system, I think that it's something physical, rather than software related Like, a short between the case and mobo, or on the mobo, or a bad PSU. The only times I've had random restarts were when I had a faulty PSU. it tended to be weird stuff that would trigger the restarts, too, rather than something that amounted to a smoking gun. It was not as if all games that taxed my GPU/CPU would cause the restarts, just certain, odd ones, like Civ V and Far Cry 3, but not Witcher 2 or Dwarf Fortress.

Stealth release in January is even better! Gives me something to play while waiting on Xcom 2.

The Second Amendment is dumb and should be repealed. There's no good justification for a generalized universal right for citizens to bear machines meant solely to kill. In order for things to get so bad that a small-arms revolution would be necessary and have any chance of succeeding, legal restrictions of any sort would be meaningless anyway. As it is, the threat of small arms rebellion has very little effect on government policy and almost never would. If anything, a rebellion or revolution in the US would coalesce around already-armed groups, like states' national guard units rather than mobs of angry citizens with small arms. Obama's proposals are toothless, but that's because very little can be done by executive order when it comes to gun control. But it's better than nothing. Personally, I think all guns should be registered, rights to resale or gift should be severely restricted, and every gunowner should be required to purchase insurance to cover accidental and intentional injuries/deaths regardless of who shoots what with the gun. Possession of an unregistered or uninsured firearm should result in hefty criminal and civil penalties, including imprisonment if the gun is a handgun or automatic. Illegal transfer of weapons ought to carry mandatory jail time.

Agents of Shield gets better near the end of the first season. But it never gets good and feels increasingly decoupled from the rest of the MCU in the later parts of Season 2 and in Season 3.

Playing a bunch of my new games and sale-bought games just to get a feel for them, but I think I'll focus on Age of Decadence for the time being. It's a hardcore RPG in the vein of the original Fallout in many ways, although even more hardcore. For example, if you play a character focused on speech skills, you should NEVER engage in combat or you will die. Apparently, the main quest is significantly different based on early game choices and your character build, which is neat. Combat is turn-based and weird, but since I'm playing a shifty grifter/loremaster, I just talk my way out of anything I accidentally talk myself into. I'll post further impressions after I play it for a bit, but I think the game's aggressive focus on player freedom is exemplified by the fact that because I built my character in a particularly focused way, I could almost immediately leave the first town and end the first chapter without doing any side quests. After I got screens telling me what happened to the town and its inhabitants (like you'd get at the end of a Fallout or Baldur's Gate game; "Town X flourished because the Hero did Y"), I realized I had skipped over tons of leveling and cash-earning opportunities and reloaded my save so I could do other quests.

I beat Tales from the Borderlands and it's the best Telltale game I've ever played, despite the silly and purposefully stupid IP. Telltale's GoT is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I think it's overall less fun than TftB. I also think TftB benefits from Borderlands' art style; GoT and WD had a bunch of really iffy art and graphics. God, now I have to finish some of the games I truly loved in 2015; Witcher 3, MGS5, and Pillars of Eternity.

Vecha very thoughtfully got me Resident Eveil: Revelations 2, Lords of Xulima, AntharioN, and the Cthulhu Saves the World/Breath of Death VII double pack! Thank you so much, Vecha, and Merry Xmas! -
I played the FF games last on XP and they were fine. I love them so much. On chapter five of episode four of Tales from the Borderlands. As much as I loved Telltale's first seasons of the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, TftB is their best game of their recent efforts. I wonder if it's because they got writing and casting and budget support from Gearbox and/or 2K. It capitalizes on the setting's zaniness in great ways while mixing in real emotional moments and scenes that satirize Telltale's other games. It might be the funniest-written game I've ever played.

All leaked copies, I assume because this forum (like the rest of the internet) is filled to the brim with folks who think nothing of downloading and sharing torrent files of stolen movies, and the Hateful 8 (and The Revenant) were both leaked in a high-profile multi-movie screener leak in the past week or so. I cannot wait to see both in the theater; probably going to see Hateful 8 on January 2.

Protip: Dragon Commander should be played with your entire focus on the between-battle crazy-as-hell rpg-conversation-choice game. It's very funny and well-done. Play the combat on easy. -

Non-film lore is suspect at best when it comes to interpreting or predicting elements of the film's and the filmmakers should not be beholden to non-film canon. But the films are also part of the canon of the larger shared universe, and I like seeing elements from KOTOR showing up there.

Ooh, Kotor refs! I have more thoughts, but no time right now.

I have no problem with her aging, just the plastic surgery immobilization. I have significant issues with the writing, but I'll post that stuff later. The new heroes and villains all knocked it out of the park.

Just saw it. There's a considerable amount of JJ Abrams fuckery and it was tough to watch Carrie Fisher's plastic surgery-immobilized face, but I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for VIII. I'll post more when I'm back at my comput.

You think 8 hours is bad, my tickets are not until Sunday afternoon, TCP. I won't be going in completely blind. I've looked at leaked art book stuff and read theories based on snippets of spoilers. But I ain't clicking on any spoiler tags in this thread until Sunday evening. I should have gotten Friday night tickets, in retrospect. Or Saturday morning tickets. Oh well. Edit: I do have one question, though, for those who have seen it; does the blending of practical and CGI effects work? I've been told there are some all-CGI characters, and of course any external dogfighting shots will be CGI. Does it all look good together?
