Games You've Beat 2021 - PXoD's Excellent Adventure

Resident Evil HD Remastered This was fun, the new controls make it EASY, how easy? I didn't die, though it was close in that part where you're carrying the fuel cell, mostly because I was using a controller, and moving the stick in a direction causes you to auto sprint, and sprinting for too long causes you to go boom. Being able to move freely makes evading enemies a simple thing, and though crimson heads sort of even the odds, it's still quite the OP mechanic, personally, I liked it. First run was with Chris in his BSAA outfit, which was fun, expected him to start punching boulders, but that didn't happen. Managed to clear it in under 5 hours in my second run with Jill, but missed the 3 hour mark by about an hour or so, tempted to do another run, but probably move on to other games for now. One thing that did happen and I didn't realize it until I was writing this: I completely forgot about the map for the second floor, never got it, but did have the wooden mount, never remembered what it was for until this moment, that was two playthroughs without using that thing. An issue I did have though, I was never able to burn a zombie, I don't know if there's a specific position, or if I had to combine the fuel with the lighter in a specific way, or maybe you have to wait (or not wait) for a while before burning them? Tried burning crimson heads, but that didn't work either, flame rounds for the grenade launcher didn't work either, so that's a thing. A pretty cool update, and a fun revisit to the original, which I remember being scary as hell, from the start when you get that scene of Chris(?) getting chomped by a zombie dog, before the title screen, this time around, specially after playing 7, not that scary, but still quite fun. Onto RE0 HD, which is going to be a thing, because unlike this one, where I did remember certain things, where to get certain items and stuff (even so, I got lost a bunch of times), I don't remember anything about 0, so that's going to be fun. -
OK, this actually looks really cool, in a cheesy, metal sort of way. \m/ \m/

1/Black was the best. 2 was much more simple and not as good but still pretty fun IMO, 3 was a MESS slightly fixed with the Razor's Edge version. The Sigma versions were all over the place, with the Sigma+ versions, made for the Vita being improvements over the base Sigma stuff. iirc Sigma removed the blood and gore, a bunch of cutscenes and some puzzles but added playable Rachel, which some people didn't like, but I thought it was OK, the + version added back the blood and gore, but the rest remained mostly the same. So yeah, in a way, the only good GOOD one is 1/Black, 2 isn't bad and 3 is just kinda nice to have. UNLESS they're going off of the base Sigma versions... That could be an issue...

HELL YEAH!!! \m/ \m/ I mean, it looks like we're pretending Black never happened... But still, HELL YEAH!!!

"The bourgeois complaining about the sun, the amount of people, that they're on the streets and they don't like waiting... ... Welcome to your first contact with public health, with the people. You don't need a credit card to enjoy health." So says a candidate from MORENA in response to people raising complaints about the conditions in which the government has begun vaccinating people, keep in mind, they're starting only with 60+ year old people, and this is the conditions they find themselves in: Wait times of over 7 hours, on the street, under the sun, without bathrooms, without any help, street vendors approaching them to sell whatever, need a bathroom but want to keep your spot on the line? Better hope you have friends or family with you that can hold it for you. But as you can see, these are all bourgeois who deserve to suffer, for they are enemies of the 4T, evil villains who have enjoyed a life of privilege and who don't know what it's like to be poor. Look at that street! It's practically paved with gold and diamonds! Of course, we had a pretty decent system in place, not only for vaccinations, but also for transporting the damn things, it used to work, and while it did have some issues, those were the kind of issues that by solving them, you'd improve life for EVERYONE, but as we all know, that was part of the evil neoliberal conspiracy benefitting only the bourgeois who live in small poor isolated communities without access to private hospitals and personalised care, so it had to be destroyed for the benefit of the 4T. I guess their idea of equality is, "Why improve things for everyone, when you can just fuck everything for everyone?" Except of course, rich people can still afford to get private, personalised treatments in the best hospitals, and some have even resorted to travelling to other countries in order to get vaccinated there. So in the end, it's poor people that'll get fucked the hardest, and they'll like it and ask for more, because the president and his people keep reminding them that all evil comes from the neoliberal PRIAN that should never be allowed back in power, that only MORENA can save them. Incidentally, a candidate from MORENA had people going around giving these little slips telling you that if you voted for him, he would guarantee your vaccine so...

Our president, the man who claimed that "honesty, integrity and not being corrupt" were the best ways to protect yourself from COVID caught COVID... And of course, now that he's out of it, he claims that usage of facemasks is pointless, because he's not "contagious". The punchline being that in his first conference since he got sick, he went on one of his usual tirades: "I'm making a dictionary of neoliberal words, yeah, I talked to the leaders of G20 and there were several words that caught my attention, like resilience, anyone knows what that means?" *Several journalists raise their hands* "Yeah no... I mean, the people out there, what does it mean? Resilience? It's a new word I hadn't heard about, there's also this other word they like to use... Uh.... Empathy! Yeah that's right, because there's sympathy, and there's antipathy, so there must be something called empathy right?" So yeah, for our president, empathy is a neoliberal buzzword, explains a lot actually.

Started playing RE HD, man, I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING about this game, so far I've spent an hour wandering around after getting the sword key, the fact that some things have changed or moved around compared to the original on PS1 doesn't help, that it's been several years since I've played it ain't making things easier either. It's fun to be back in this type of RE game though, that's cool.

Finished. There's a bunch of things that could look better, but after some attempts, they seem to fall in that "out of my current skill-level" category, some day... Maybe. A quick variation I did, some last minute stuff. Not counting the hours spent staring at the abyss and doubting myself, this took about 20-25 hours, counting those it's almost double that. Edit: Well, that was a dumb from me. Didn't notice and didn't think about it, but my glasses have that blue screen filter coating on them, so... Took a quick look without them and it's way too light, everything looked darker with glasses on, so I thought it looked good, glasses off... Not so much. Fuck me, something I'll have to take into account next time I get new glasses. Which should be soon(ish) I've had these for about 2 years now.

Resident Evil 7 This was a roller coaster, starts out super scary and creepy, gets a bit more actiony later on, then there's another creepy sequence, then back to action. It's a cool game, not sure how it feels as a Resident Evil game, but as an action horror it's pretty good. Resident Evil 7: Not A Hero A super short DLC that happens after the events of 7, a much more straightforward FPS game, little in terms of horror IMO. Biggest issue is that CAPCOM can't seem to decide on a look for Chris. Counting the DLC it took me about 8 hours to complete the full thing, kinda want to start a new playthrough, using some of the unlockable stuff you get. -
Skull was kinda meh, this one sounds pretty cool though. \m/ \m/

When it picks up, it picks up.

Peña Nieto and his team: *Steals $400 million during their 6 years in power* MORENA: "Hold my Cuarta transformacion..." *steals $2.5 billion in 2 years* AMLO: "I'm the first president that isn't corrupt, no, those weren't bribes, those were voluntary donations from our supporters, no you can't know where that money went to and where it came from, it's uh.... a matter of national security, but yeah, I'm not corrupt, I'm honest, those who say otherwise are enemies of the nation, servants of neoliberal conspirators, I'm clean and perfect and free from fault, thank you."

Those look pretty cute, nun looks cool. \m/ \m/ I've been learning a lot about certain tools in Krita, particularly, all the colouring I did was using the colorize mask, which simplifies things A TON, though the shading still has to be done by hand (AFAIK, might be a tool for that too), still, that's a huge chunk of time saved, and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself... And I do say so myself. Originally, the plan was to finish before February, yeah, that was optimistic of me.

Almost there (kinda)...

I remember reading that The Order had some really annoying stealth sequences with insta-fail and poor checkpoints, and that convinced me to never touch it, what did you think of those? Where any segments particularly bad or nothing that bad? -
-
For those that have finished 7:
-
Resident Evil 7 Man this is a game, been playing in 15 minute chunks then taking a break to do other stuff.
-
I've been playing for a bit, but man, between how Outlast-ish the start is (I'm told it picks up later on) and how long Ethan takes to do certain things, I'm going to die before I make any progress.

Played the PS5 demo, which is called visual demo, which makes sense, because it's mostly just about how the game will look, rather than an actual demo for Village, the first person perspective is something I'm not used to for these games, and the way your character sometimes interacts with stuff as soon as you get close to it scared the hell out of me. Still, after watching the gameplay trailer, it looks pretty cool, looking forward to it, specially if it ends up being the RE4 of this new generation of RE games.
