6 Had nothing supernatural in it, it did have a gigantic railgun of doom though. Also yeah, they're pretty easy to get into even if you haven't played previous entries, though I did go back to play the others, just for fun.

Yeah the AC games are known for having cheesy melodramatic stories, but that (to me) is what makes them cool, and why Assault Horizon failed in that regard. FWIW, I got into the series with 6, so it's not like I had been playing them for long enough to "revere" the story and lore behind it, I just thought it was cool.

There's that, but there were also issues with the characters, story, etc. It tried to be too much like CoD or BF in terms of narrative style, and so, characters suffered from lack of development and boring personalities. There's also the DFM thingy, which was a huge issue for a lot of people, it was this thing that was supposed to make fights more cinematic, but it felt too scripted and was annoying in how forced it felt, with some enemies being super hard to hit unless you used it.

That's... not one of the best games in the series, and that's being too kind IMO, the series went somewhere completely different in terms of tone and setting with AH so, keep that in mind.

Figured this deserves its own thread. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-01-27-ace-combat-7-now-coming-to-pc-and-xbox-one-as-well-as-ps4 It's also going be on PC, PS4 and XOne, so that's a thing. VR compatibility is also pretty cool, though I ain't buying a PSVR anytime soon.

Quake 4. Pretty sure I've had this game for as long as I've had my 360, but I never managed to finish it until now, always got stuck in one of the last levels, now I can finally remove it from my backlog.

Someone spoiled the ending for me, and suddenly I'm really interested in this game, unfortunately, I don't have room in my budget for it.

Turns out, the extradition of El Chapo was just part of an elaborate plan to build tunnels under the infamous wall, joke's on you Trump, build a wall, we'll just dig under it!

I've seen a lot of people say "well, country X/Y/Z went through similar and they're fine now, so it'll be alright for the US", which IMO, is kinda naive, as I think it's not fair to compare the economic/military power/influence of a small third world country to that of the US, but eh, I guess I sort of appreciate the optimism. Meanwhile, our president cancelled a meeting with Trump, over the whole wall thingy, and now talks are underway to further expand economic treaties with Asia/Europe in order to lessen our dependence on US exports and imports. Also this: http://thebulletin.org/press-release/board-moves-clock-ahead10433?platform=hootsuite We're now at two and a half minutes to midnight, so that's a thing.

AI Software learns to make AI Software. So that's a thing. Currently it requires a ton of processing power to work effectively but still, reminds me of: Can't embed with timestamp, but anyway, skip to 4:38.

Fate/Extella, it's fun, though if you're not a fan of musou style games, this probably won't be for you. There's also a couple of issues with the translation, including that one of the characters refers to you as husband, even if you're playing as a female character. Also, though the trailers suggested subtitles for special attacks and, most importantly, Noble Phantasms, these are not actually subtitled in the game, which is a shame, specially since NPs are rather important in the Fate series. For now I would say, if you're interested but aren't a huge Fate fan, wait until it's on sale.

As far as I can remember, on the Vita version, arrows match the colour of the buttons. I did enjoy the soundtrack of BA, mostly since it was included with the game and getting to listen to it without worrying about buttons and stuff makes it easier to enjoy it IMO. Though for what it's worth, I could never get into the Hatsune Miku games, tried the demo for a couple of them, but the buttons/arrows/everything spawning in different parts of the screen, as opposed to a neatly organized line was too much for me to keep up. Overall, for me the best rythm game I've played has been Rock Band, and that's mostly because it gave me a way to play drums without annoying other people.

Got the third ending and the platinum in The Witch and the Hundred Knight. Getting all 3 endings gives you most of the trophies, with only a couple being somewhat easy to miss, thankfully, they're not hard to get, as the game tells you which areas have pillars which are not yet active, and the other one just requires starting a NG+ save and making a couple of choices at the beginning, pretty simple stuff.

Ended up getting the digital edition, though the Noble Phantasm Edition includes a really cool cloth poster, importing it is too expensive ATM and no local retailers have it, also, XSEED made the DLC outfits available only to digital pre-orders, and they've said there are no plans to sell it separately.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight (PS3 edition, not the Revival edition ). Tried to get all three endings before the end of the year, but fell short of one thanks to a bunch of farming/grinding/annoying stuff. Overall a fun game, the gigacalories thingy can be annoying in some areas, but it ended up being much more tolerable than expected thanks to the pillars which allow you to replenish them with bonus points. Combat is pretty fun with all the weapons you can get, though for the most part I avoided the magic category, as those were too slow to be useful, except for certain enemies which are immune to other types of damage. The tochka stuff is fun, they're things you can summon which have various roles and abilities, some spawn a turret that deals magic damage, others allow you to map an area without consuming gcals, and there's one that allows you to summon mini-knights, tiny little things that attack enemies, not terribly strong, but they can serve as a distraction during boss fights. I actually got it on release day, but stopped playing for a long time for reasons I can't remember. So it was fun getting back into it, having some trouble in the area I was in, only to realize that this was due to me having forgotten to update my equipment, running around with weapons that deal 57 damage points, when you have stuff with 700+ damage in your inventory makes things unnecessarily difficult. The story is... something, it's really weird, with a super dark humour thing going on, it's certainly not for everyone. The endings aren't hard to get as long as you manage your saves, biggest issue is that one requires the killing of three special bosses which can be a pain in the ass, followed by a chapter where all enemies are now much stronger (that's where I'm at right now ).

Sorry about that, I meant CCC. I actually own the special edition of Extra for the PSP. Extella takes place in the same universe as the Extra games, but for the most part, you'll be able to enjoy this one without playing the previous two, you might miss a reference or two about the previous games, or wonder why certain servants act the way they do towards the player character, but aside from that, you'll still be able to enjoy the game. I do recommend Extra though it's pretty fun. Main thing you should know if you're coming from the anime series is that this isn't related to them, it's very much its own thing, aside from certain servants and characters from the anime/VN that show up, and even then, those sometimes behave in completely different ways, also, it doesn't take place in the real world (or earth for that matter), rather, the whole thing is a simulation inside a magical-super-computer-of-doom that's on/is the moon. Been a while since I played Extra but that's the most important thing I can think of right now. TL;DR You should be fine playing this even if you haven't played the others, but Extra is a fun game!
