  1. The Town was excellent. Saw that one in theaters, actually. There were actually a lot of really good movies during the last half of last year.
  2. My Netflix queue is like... almost to 300 right now. It's a joke. But yeah, that's gonna go near the top - looks like a lot of fun.
  3. I've been wanting to see that. It's on my list of the many, many films I missed in theaters I now need to rent.
  4. Hahahhaa. Thing is, she'd probably make me buy it first.
  5. At my PS3 today - downloading the KZ3 Beta right now. Let me know if anyone wants to play at some point!
  6. We have a booze and tobacco thread, time for a coffee thread. I'm more of a tea person myself, but recently I've decided to give coffee another shot. My mother's a coffee-every-morning type, but I have never seemed to handle intense bursts of caffeine all that well - I boost for about an hour, get super jittery, and then crash exhausted. When I was up North recently though, my friends were drinking a lot of coffee and so I had quite a bit throughout the week and noted that it didn't seem to affect me as adversely as it used to. This morning, on my way home, I grabbed a cup from this tiny new cafe - they have 'Blue Bottle' coffee, which I guess is some really good coffee, really popular in the area, but I have no idea. Any huge coffee people here? Ramble on about said caffeinated toasty (or iced/slushed) beverages now!
  7. Oh dear... http://www.amazon.com/FarmVille-Dummies-Angela-Morales/dp/1118016963 Think Geek's Facebook page made a facepalm post about this. Agreed.
  8. I cry at movies, books, television shows probably more than the girlfriend. I think it stopped being cute like a year ago, and now she just sort of shakes her head and sighs exasperated-like... unless she's crying too, and then it's okay. Stupid gender roles. I defy thee!
  9. I've seen a few in the SF Bay Area. One place that pretty much anybody can find is in that foodcourt in the lower level of the downtown Westfield mall. The one I had in my post is from Gamin's. I also seen one in the Westlake shopping center in Daly City and one on El Camino Real in San Bruno/Millbrea. Okay, I doubt any of these are UK style fish and chips but man... fried fish in general is good. And @Brainhurtboy... I think I heard of Pike Fish Fry before.... Folks, as you can tell. I love me some fish and chips, no matter what style. --- Edit: Damn it Tali... now I'm going to regret not hearing back from Cal Poly. Its so close to Morro Bay... Edit2: I now also recall that diner styled place on the Embacadero having some. Then one place in Monterey/Pacific Grove. Yeah, in San Francisco there's Fish and Chips at a ton of restaurants - depending on what kind of food they serve, of course. The nice ones, too. Beach Chalet, the restaurant that looks over the ocean, by the windmill at Ocean Beach? Beer Battered Fish and Chips. Pretty good. A bunch of places by my house, too, do them. Have a Pacific Catch, seafood chain, by my house that does some pretty good fish and chips. Well, I thought they were amazing, but that was after six beers. When I went up to Washington last week, I realized I was burnt out on Fish and Chips - been getting them too much recently (ever since I saw Dean make a status about Fish and Chips and started in on a mad craving for them), and when I got some at the restaurant/bar where my buddy works, I ended up not being able to eat all of them and feeling nauseous the whole day - and they were damn good, too!. It was a sad thing indeed.
  10. This song is awesome. Her first album is much better, but this and this (below) song are excellent.
  11. Rift Beta is only during weekends, correct? Finally at my Desktop and I'd love to see the game play at max settings.
  12. From what I've heard, Love seems more like something like Minecraft, whereas this is more your average (but very nicely polished) MMO, so I'd almost place them in different categories altogether.
  13. Just saw the King's Speech. Excellent film, as you would probably expect.
  14. Finally got a chance to play some Rift beta. This is on my laptop at the utter lowest settings, so I didn't get to judge how great I'm sure the game looks. Gotta say though, if I was in the market for an MMO, I would certainly buy this. It's got a beautiful amount of polish - it's nothing like the anti-user friendly MMOs of old where you spent most of your time wondering where the hell you had to go next. Everything is clearly outlined and helpful. The Soul system is also very enticing. I love that you get to combine multiple classes from the outset, and quickly start defining your character. Alas. I don't have the sort of time a MMO takes - I've still got many, many single player games with countless hours that I own and need to play, and don't even have time for those. Still. Tempting - very tempting. I'm curious - how many people here are considering buying the game, or have already done so? I saw that BHB has already gone ahead and pre-ordered, off the strength of the Beta. Anyone else?
  15. checking my bank account scares me.

    1. deanb

Same here, till I remember I have 2 accounts. The other scares me not cos it's empty(opposite), but cos the temptation is huge to dig into it. Can't though cos soon I'll be a bum out on the street and that cash is my lifeline for then.

I've got two credit accounts, and those are the frightening ones to check. My bank account vs. my credit accounts is a dim matchup prospect.

  16. Hrmmm... sometimes, I just blank out. So I'll forget most of my favorite actors right now. Lee Pace Jeff Bridges Rufus Sewell Carey Mulligan Uhh... I'll get back to you folks on these. I know I've got loads.
  17. I finally got the Beta downloaded. Unfortunately they're having downtime at the moment and I'm about to go out for the evening, so I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. Have to say though, that was a hooooorrible CG opening. Bad voice acting, constant large lettering across the screen, bad CG. Not saying anything about the game, however - judging a game by its CG is like the classic of judging a book by its cover, and not an accurate thing to do.
  18. I'm about to go get some super tasty Mission burritos (at El Buen Sabor today) and Bi Rite ice cream, down by Dolores Park. Hey Malish - where are your favorite burrito places in the city?
  19. Hahaa, yeah, hangovers do similar things to my brain.
  20. Positive reps for everyone with personal gaming achievements! Hurrah!
  21. Did you play Demon's Souls? P2P was basically a separate community than the rest of the game. Very much an opt-in sort of thing you don't have to bother with if you don't want to. I think you're confusing PVP with P2P. Player vs. Player, as opposed to peer to peer. It's the dodgy nature of peer to peer connections that people are worried about, I think, not the player vs. player combat that was implemented so uniquely... although the PVP could suck if the P2P connections sucked. So in a mish-mash kind of way, I guess they would be connected?
  22. I am sad I am still away from my PS3. This sounds fun. Alas!
  23. First off, let me clarify, I don't mean in the sense of PSN Trophies, or Steam or Xbox Achievements (although, if there are any of those you're particularly proud of, that fits). Basically, this is for any gaming moments you are particularly proud of that you want to share with the world. For example, I've just had one. I've been playing the F2P (or pay like $15 for three months if you're serious about it, which I eventually did) browser based Might and Magic game that launched last fall. It's not a Facebook game (although it gives you options to post about stuff you did in the game, on Facebook, but you aren't rewarded for it), and it doesn't have real time combat either. It's more like the text based strategy games of the internet days of old, where you make a bunch of actions, attack other kingdoms, etc, only this game is illustrated with four tiers of an isometric map, so that you can actually see what you're doing. Anyway, the game has multiple servers, and it's also split up into 'seasons,' where each season has a specific objective that all the alliances on the server are striving toward - and the one alliance that gets that, wins. tl;dr? Our alliance managed to win the season, hurrah! I've never been in the top alliance/guild for any sort of of persistent online game before, so it was pretty cool, and I ended up pretty high in the rankings. We also get a ton of bonuses going into Season 2 - you can see my 'win' screen below (Carrot is one of the gaming names I use): So what are some of your folks biggest personal gaming achievements and moments?
  24. Yeahh... I'm in a room with dodgy internet connection, and it's blipped out for a second or two twice, and then I have to start all over again. Aihhy.
