  1. It's a nice sunny day without a cloud in the sky. Well, there is this one black cloud that looks a bit like a skull, but I'm sure that's nothing

  2. I haven't read it, but Grant Morrison's graphic novel Arkham Asylum gives the explanation of "super-sanity." To copy-paste from a wiki: Grant Morrison's graphic novel Arkham Asylum suggests that the Joker's mental state is in fact a previously unprecedented form of "super-sanity," a form of ultra-sensory perception. It also suggests that he has no true personality of his own, that on any given day he can be a harmless clown or a vicious killer, depending on which would benefit him the most (thus explaining the two very different interpretations of the character that have developed over the decades; see below). I'm not fluent in everything in the DC Universe, but basically it justified all the characterizations of the Joker. I mean, because he's completely unstable to the point the Joker himself can't understand... himself, it kind of brings sense to how he could behave so radically through the course of his criminal lifetime. While he may be self-aware of what is around him in a heighten ability, his own mind can't grasp who he is.
  3. The end of the world did happen, we just didn't see it because it happened in the blink of an eye, and we all blinked at the same time. Depending on how your day goes, you'll know you're in Heaven or Hell. Good luck!

  4. I would have to say it's the charm of Angry Birds that makes it rise above all other mobile games. It's still a high quality mobile game, and there are other high quality mobile games too. I don't dip into the mobile games market too often, but most mobile games kinda "stop" once you've downloaded them. So, to me, that tells me that its charm makes it that more unique and why it is still popular. Take Angry Birds Seasons as an example of charm. Every major holiday receives unique levels that feature seasonal items along with the green pigs dressed for the occasion (Ghost Pig, Cupid Pig, Girly Pig, etc). The music itself changes and reflects the atmosphere of the level. Rovio will sometimes throw in a few animations, like say... And there are more, though most have been outside the games.
  5. There's no chance you'll be able to play UMD games on the NGP. With that touchpad on the back, I don't see there being any room for a disc drive component. There will probably be a method for the PSN downloadable PSP games though.
  6. Catwoman doesn't necessarily act as a villain, and I doubt she'll be anywhere malicious in Dark Knight Rises. She's more of a rogue/antihero that causes trouble for Batman, not endangering the citizens of Gotham. At times she assists Batman if their goal is of similar interest, and in some cases there is a strong underlining relationship. Besides, I think Catwoman in this movie is introduced because of how Gotham has turned on Batman for the "murder" of Harvey. Catwoman comes in because of the discontent associated with the once praised Dark Knight.
  7. As a gamer, I love that I have hours of (possibly) endless entertainment as new levels are updated for free. Unlike most other mobile games, or at least the ones prior to Angry Birds, there wasn't much in the way of aesthetics and character. To this day, the typical mobile game is a time-waster. Something like a year ago there were actual "scientific" studies on why people kept coming back to Angry Birds. Theories from "self accomplishment" to "gambling dilemmas" and so on. Basically, Angry Birds is a simple game with a lot of style and character. Maybe those are common attributes with retail console/PC games, but the mobile games market is limited in that regard. Now I'm not saying Angry Birds is the only game with style and character, but it occupies a minority along with games like Cut the Rope and Doodle Jump. Now, I would also say that the mobile games market does affect the gaming industry along the lines of time and value. Like I said, I've had countless hours of entertainment with Angry Birds for only $0.99. In other threads, we here at TAY have taken issue with how modern releases stick to $59.99 (and what have you across the pond) and the rate in which those games decrease in value. Also consider services like PlayStation Network with its "Minis" and other downloadable games. Kinda the same basis, even if the consumer may vary on taste and preference. Angry Birds isn't "teh besterest game eva," but it's a game that offers a lot for how seemingly less complex it is. Yeah it's physics based, but anyone can launch a bird with a slingshot. There's nothing more complicated to understand than to pulverize green pigs with furious fowl.

  10. It's a good day because: 1) My creepy, messy weirdo roommate is leaving in June, and 2) Supernova and Pitch Black flavors of Mountain Dew are back!

Yes Rocky, that one. The one who clips his toe nails in the shower, and pees all over the toilet, and leaves stains on the couch, and leaves rotting food on the table, and generally can't function like an adult.

  11. Playing Half-Life 2. It feels good to be bashing headcrabs with a crowbar again.

  12. After the videos uploaded to GameTrailers, I'm interested in this game. Not sure how much, but I've got interest.
  13. "But at the end of the day, it's the people with brain damage that are the real heroes."
  14. $35? That seems a little too generous. I remember at the midnight launch for Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat that the trade-in "value" board had both those games for around $22-$25.
  15. News Flash: GLaDOS, a fictional super computer, is a passive-aggressive bitch who issues playground insults at the player's character, Chell.
  16. I'm gonna mostly agree with Gerbil here. Used in a small degree wouldn't be a significant problem, but take something like GameStop which is a business who's strategy is to gain profit through new and used sales, and we have two identities fighting for the same thing over the exact same material. Trading-in games has made giving up video games an easy process. A few decades ago, either you gave away an unwanted game to a friend or sold it at something like a garage sale or flea market. Now you've got a dozen or so customers a day walking in to a store to receive cash or store credit by handing an associate a handful of unwanted games. Store credit is always the higher amount, but if you think about it, you're just receiving a small discount for another game within the same store. You're buying products whilst giving them more products to sell. I don't want to demonize the whole process, but it is a process that has a large effect when applied to current released titles. Hmm, do I go with a new copy for $60, or do I buy a used copy that was given back to the store to sell for their own profit for $55?
  17. How do you type out the console command to change volume again? I bring up the "developer's console," type in "Volume" along with a number, and nothing happens. I think I might just play with headphones on so I can adjust the volume through them.

      P4: Gritty Reboot

Should be volume, then space, then number. Try 0 to see if its working

  18. WHY DON'T MODERN CARS HAVE THAT ALREADY! Seriously, the parking lot for my apartment complex can be a nightmare. You get enough people with trucks and SUVs, and someone is going to be stuffed in a regular parking spot. So really that means you don't want to be the last one (or two) home at the end of the day.
  19. I remember there being an animated series, one I watched back in the 90's. That's the only exposure I have had to Tintin, so I won't know if they'll do justice to the source material.
  20. Arkham Asylum and inFAMOUS were both games I waited on. The former for monetary reasons (thus being pushed out in favor of other games) and for the latter I had left my PS3 behind at home, so I was missing quite a few PS3 gems. The Karma Meter can be a bit of a joke during the game, but being a super-powered individual in a sandbox always has some degree of fun to it. Of course, I'm a sucker for lightning elemental powers. Now I guess Cole is going to be a full-on elemental in inFAMOUS 2.
  21. I know that there's the fantasy of having a future with universal "credits" and all, but with all the trouble an online atmosphere brings, the most rational and paranoid part of me appreciates the idea of banks keeping my real money.
  22. I didn't realize there were this many without inFAMOUS. It's too amazing of a game to NOT play! To think, I thought I was slow when I got the game almost a year ago for $30.
  23. Updating Facebook info to display that I have (real) similar interests as the girls I've met. Forget those countless dating sites, Facebook has that covered.
