  1. If I get a PS5, I can start getting 4K Blu-rays! Well, maybe. I don't think I want to bother with one more format. Still, I'll be going with the "physical disc" version of the PS5. I'm not fully comfortable with going completely digital on a Sony platform. It bugged the snot out of me that games I bought on the PS3 weren't transferable to the PS4. Unlike PC where the platform is always PC, Sony tends to get you stuck in the console generations. Not to mention the freedom of selling off unwanted games a number of years later.
  2. So that whole "Abolish Police" thing that's completely nuts? It's happening in Seattle. The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or "CHAZ" for short. They want to abolish the Seattle PD, abolish imprisonment, and create "localized anti-crime systems." While representatives of the zone have said they're seeking an unarmed solution, individuals with firearms have been spotted. The goal of this is suppose to be showing a potential peaceful future without police, but I suspect it will do the opposite. Given that this zone is six city blocks of Seattle, Washington, it's not really feasible that this is somehow even remotely a permanent commune. Still, I suspect protesters are aware of that and are seeking to last as long as possible as proof their system will work on a small scale. But all it takes is for shit to hit the fan and mob justice to rear its ugly head. Domestic disputes can't always be talked down nor do I believe most anyone can handle those situations without training. I'll never forget my upstairs neighbor screaming for 911 because of her abusive boyfriend. The cops were over a number of times before, but it went down that Wednesday morning. So yeah, free food and medic stations are all well and good, until it begins running out. How long do you really want to stay to prove your point when others are starting to lose it? How safe are you going to feel when the handful of firearms present represent an absolute power over you? Maybe everyone will get lucky and negotiations can be held, but Trump is apparently anxious to send forces and all that will do is stoke the fire even further.
  3. So I've got to vent somewhere about this because I can't fathom the insanity I've read online today. So I keep a wide variety of friends on Facebook, though if it weren't for family I would have deleted my Facebook quite some time ago. It is my personal philosophy to view and listen to multiple viewpoints so as to avoid entrapping yourself in an echo chamber. With recent events, I'm not shocked that I don't have racist friends and family. However, there are a select few who have gone off the deep end when it comes to the police. They've adopted the idea that we should no longer have any police because "they're all dangerous." I guess there's a movement on Twitter now for this exact train of thought. No police, no jails, removing laws that prevent survival, and "community-driven government enforcement." So basically a post-apocalyptic world where people are in tribes/villages and gangs are back in fashion. Or perhaps we go Wild West style where shit happens and the nearest Marshal ain't aware said shit is going down. Basically lazy bullshit dreaming that doesn't make an honest effort to consider reality and address the nature of man. Maybe that's the realist in me, but I'm of the thought reform and structure over radical upheaval is the preferred method of positive change in both the nation and local community.
  4. If he actually sends any active federal military personnel to enforce local law, he would be breaking Posse Comitatus. That's a big deal and he'd have to do a lot more than talk to get it suspended. It comes off as Trump saying shit like he knows what the hell he's saying when all it amounts to is getting state governors more involved by deploying the National Guard. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks a serious act involving the military. EDIT: And as I type that, I see there's discussion of the Insurrection Act and Trump's possible usage of it. Now that's a possibility because if someone convinced Trump into earnestly making the proclamation, then there's one for the history textbooks. Last time it was invoked were 1992 LA riots.
  5. This would be the National Guard mobilized by the state governors which has been done in the past. Frankly I'm glad not to be living in the capital right now because this seems to be bringing out the unrest in people from being hold up in their homes. And then the idiots not wearing their masks are just going to potentially spread the virus when it has been on the downturn. And so much for small businesses reopening when they've had their stock raided.
  6. I don't mean for this to be an argument, but even in Sony's teaser for the event, it's showing the white controller. ?
  7. ...It's white. Color is a product of light and anything where the bottom is already pitch black for the sake of aesthetic, and for white text to be fully legible, is going to be black. The top is too light grey for Sony's traditional "Jet Black" color. That along with the shapes and icons being a darker color to contrast the base color. If it were a "Jet Black" base, the icons and shapes would be a lighter color to provide contrast. But they're not; they're darker just like in the official controller reveal images.
  8. It still looks white to me, just the whole added effect of "low lighting." I'm thinking Sony wants to really incorporate white into their "blue and black" color scheme they've developed in the PS4 era.
  9. DOOM Eternal Finally got around to finishing this one. It's a great game, but I'm not sure how I feel about it overall. DOOM 2016 was such a magnificent game, but there's a clear tonal shift from it and Eternal. The sequel aims to have a more "gamific" approach to progression, combat, and overall presentation. Again, not really a bad thing, but it feels so different from its predecessor. It throws a ton of lore at you, though it's also easy to ignore if that is your prerogative. The game makes it very clear you must swap weapons during combat and must chainsaw lesser enemies should you be running low on ammo. Not to mention the tutorials that pop up to tell you how to deal with most enemy types. In 2016, you could pick your favorites and clean house with them and the chainsaw was rarely used. Still, highly recommend it. While I may not have liked half the aerial platforming, it's a blast to play through and once you've adjusted, you're sure to rip and tear until it is done. Not to mention I do like the implications the story was going with and the overall adventure was massive. Praise the Slayer!
  10. From what I read originally, Universal was going to release their movies digitally weeks ahead of theaters. Then articles were saying it was at the same time, but now there's talk of how Universal will release "smaller" movies online while only their blockbusters would have the chance to be in theaters. I guess this is like the decline of drive-ins; that the movie-going experience is becoming more of a novelty. Still, I've seen movie theaters evolve and can't imagine this will be an easy adaption. While Trolls 2 did financially well, it was also $20 to rent for 48 hours. That's ridiculous pricing for a single person, but a deal for a family. Not to mention the kids could double dip if they enjoyed the movie. At the same time, I've been to some impressive theaters that made the experience worth doing. Not everyone has an amazing audio-video setup at home, not to mention the allure of IMAX or other features you can't easily replicate at home. Still, I've also been to theaters that have let themselves go because they're essentially the only movie-going option for local residents. It will quickly become a "swim-or-sink" path for theaters if the likes of Universal and Disney sees the 80%+ revenue as incentive enough to abandon these spiteful theater chains.
  11. I'm more of a dog person. (Who'd have guess?) But once I'm married, I'll have a cat. He acts like a dog though, so I think I'll be able to adjust living with him quickly. ?
  12. Code Black is getting an anime adaptation. I don't think people will be ready for it after coming off of Cells at Work. ? But yes, I also highly recommend Cells at Work!
  13. Gambit is a love-hate game mode. It's fun as hell, but it can be the most frustrating experience when you're playing with randoms. Back when I was active, Sleep Simulant had returned to the game and a vast majority of Invaders were using it. Still, was one of my favorite things to do in D2. It's a 4 v 4 playlist, so if you guys need a fourth, let me know. ?
  14. My prices may have been an early week spike. Monday evening it was 144 Bells, but this morning it was 143. Using both turnip calculators, the highest I could have received this afternoon was 154 Bells. However, there was the potential for a massive drop, so I sold at 143. This afternoon it went to 110, which was my buying price! I'll keep an eye out, but I don't know if my island will be viable this week. EDIT: My fiancee's island is at 505 Bells! She didn't check this morning, so I'm not sure if it was just this afternoon or the whole day. I was so shocked! But anyway, are you guys excited for the update this week?!
  15. Yeah, while you can adjust the Master Volume in the Party Pack for all games, you'll still get that one person who's either too far away from their mic or just has a crappy connection. I did not know about the individual volume, so that's a big thanks, Ethan! I played Party Pack 2 & 3 last night with a group of 7. I didn't play all the games in the packs, but here are my impressions: Fibbage 2 - I've played Fibbage 3 before this, but as far as I could tell the main difference was the aesthetic. It's worth going back to even if you've got the sequel. Bidiots - Fun game, I'm surprised there isn't a sequel. Quiplash XL - It's good, just prefer the sequel. Trivia Murder Party - Once you've played the sequel, this one feels bare. The sequel has a lot of charm and variety. Guesspionage - Pretty fun as it's all guessing and everyone gets involved in each question. Quiplash 2 - SO DANG GOOD! Speaking of, Quiplash 3 is coming in Party Pack 7 later this year! ? While I still haven't played Party Pack 5, I would still say 4 is my favorite. Fibbage 3, Survive the Internet, Civic Doodle, and Monster Seeking Monster are all great fun. Bracketeering is the one game that barely gets touched in that pack. It's alright, but the others far outshine it.
  16. I've got a meeting in a little bit. I'll try to swing on by once it is over. ?
  17. They're finally on sale directly on Steam, and at a better discount than when I got them earlier this month. ? Of the Party Packs I've played, I enjoy 4 the most. 6 is mostly great and I haven't seen people play all of 5. Mostly the "Patently Stupid" game. Drawful 2 is fun, but I feel like it loses its charm if people aren't talking. Quiplash 2 is a blast, and I believe it's part of Party Pack 3. (And sorry for not joining you this morning, Ethan. I was just checking out the sales on the Steam app.)
  18. I made the switch over to kb+m. The only way to make the touchpad on the DS4 work was plugging it in by USB rather than wireless over Bluetooth. At that point it wasn't as comfortable, even for muscle memory. Running around Mars I got use to most of the key bindings. I don't know how I would fair in Crucible, but that would allow for 6 of us to play together. ? I also got Borderlands 3 recently as it's cheap on Green Man Gaming. If anyone was looking into that, I'm willing to play with them. Also, Dean was mentioning Jackbox games earlier in this thread. I have Party Pack 4 and 6, Drawful 2, and Quiplash 2 on Steam. The way I've been playing remotely with friends and family is by screen sharing in Discord. The nice thing is that only one person needs the game as everyone will be playing at jackbox.tv on either their smartphone, tablet, or even PC browser.
  19. I may be able to join. I'm going to use controller at first because, after 5+ of Destiny combined, it's just pure muscle memory. I hope to swap to kb+m eventually, but it's gonna take some time and tuning key bindings. I played a little to get my bearings and then I instantly realized my original DS4 was broken from playing so much Destiny 2 years ago! Luckily it's only R3 and with the Back Button attachment, it's resolved. ?
  20. Unless you're doing a Raid, it doesn't hurt to have multiple Titans (or Warlocks and Hunters) on a Fireteam. Play whatever feels right (and fun) for you. Sure variety is the spice of life, but doing a Striker with 3 Striker Titans can be a blast. ?
  21. Jumping back in after all this time, it's a lot thrown right at me because now there's Armor 2.0 and all these Seasons I've missed. It was also funny to see me get 14 or so Steam achievements right at once and then over a dozen prompts about "X Unlocked!" ?
  22. How many star fragments do you need? I got shooting stars tonight and last night.
  23. Well shit, if all y'all are gonna jump on the F2P version of Destiny 2, I might as well. Still a little sour that expansions can't transfer unless you had the Battle.net version. (Though you would have had to done that before Oct. 1).
  24. You gotta play the stalk market, m'dude! This was the first time my island was selling for a profit. I usually have had to go over to my fiancee's island where I sell for a small profit. This time it was massive! Right now they're selling for 171, but I'll check in a little bit for the afternoon prices.
  25. 30 minutes left. If you've got turnips, 287 Bells! JV3W3
