  1. I get what you guys are saying, but how it reads says there will be an actual copy on Cloud. We're talking about taking a physical disc and having the Xbox One make a digital copy (because that's how it plays games). Most likely when you download games from Xbox Live, there won't be a need to have any copy in the Cloud because there will be a record/transaction showing proof of purchase. Thus, just how it works now with PSN and Live, you would just redownload from the service rather than Cloud. The only perk to buying Xbox One discs is the (hypothetical) faster install time. In the end you'll still be left with a useless disc where, even if your console bellies up, there is a copy in the Cloud (EDIT: Because you bought a disc and ripped a copy, not downloaded). So, why buy your games from a retailer now? EDIT2: Now maybe we'll learn that there's an option to not upload ripped copies to Cloud, and discs would then become a physical backup if anything happens to your console. As far as how consoles and game licenses are linked, and what little we know, it wouldn't seem like the more reasonable option (especially if discs are meant to be one-time use).
  2. Unless I'm reading this wrong, the games you install are then uploaded to your own Cloud storage. You have a digital copy on your console, and then the uploaded copy on Cloud. Just look at the above quote: "...a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud."
  3. It does, and it will hold game data and other downloads. The question on my mind is whether this content on the external drive will be uploaded to Cloud storage. You would only need one once you fill up the system's 500GB, but this begs the question on how Microsoft feels about offering 500GB+ of Cloud storage. They're already committed to the system's capacity, but considering games take up a variety of gigabytes, a gamer's library could easily surpass the HDD limit. To me, it seems like another opportunity for Microsoft to come out with another fee. Something like, "Once you have surpassed the allotted 500GB of free storage, any further data will require a paid subscription of $XX.XX per year."
  4. Nah, the games themselves are stored on Cloud as well. It's how you'll be able to play your games on another person's console. Of course, then you need to install the game on that console, which then is suppose to deactivate it on the last console it was installed on. EDIT: The actual quote on Xbox Wire: Access your entire games library from any Xbox One—no discs required: After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud. So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games.
  5. Where is everybody going to watch E3? Any preferred sites?

why is spike only showing MS? apparently they're showing dodgeball during the Sony one - could MS have paid them?

How could you possibly accuse MS of such a thing?

IGN has pre and post shows, which could be good, depending on what members of their editorial staff are on.

  6. I was talking about the use of an external HDD. Would any of that be uploaded to Cloud storage? I can't imagine Microsoft being generous in offering over 500GB of Cloud storage for free...
  7. Then I might go for the Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD. There is the Crucial M4 64GB SSD, which still seems popular with almost 1,800 customer reviews. Still, the difference isn't that much in price, and the extra space is good for "what if."
  8. I'm thinking of going with a SSD for System and a 1TB HDD for Storage. What capacity would be sufficient for a System Drive? I was looking at either a 64GB or 120GB where the price difference is about $22.
  9. The Xbox One has become a big middle finger to a lot of the industry. Why would you buy a physical disc when the console will read game data stored on the system rather than disc? Oh, now you can use an external HDD since the system 500GB HDD can't be swapped, though here's hoping there's no potential in losing data permantely if that drive fails. All the little things we never took notice of, like lending or selling our games, has become a debacle on Microsoft's part. So much so that friends and family having "unlimited access" to your console was a bullet point. You know, because other consoles were so restrictive on exactly who could play with you in your own home. Next thing you know it's revealed that Kinect 2.0 has a blood test so only blood relatives can have "unlimited access."
  10. Opposite problem for me: Most had 360s, a few on PC, and I was on PS3. Borderlands 2 could have been even better if I had a friend play co-op. I've become very excited for Destiny, though maybe not hyped since there's not quite enough known yet. E3 should change that, but for now I'm thinking if I get this on PS4, I'll have a lot more friends there than on Xbox One. (Or they might stay on 360...)
  11. See, I think the difference here is that when we saw all of that, it was scripted so Joel would trigger all the different AI interactions, and etc. My assumption here, obviously, but I'm thinking that would depend on how the player reacts to the situation, and then how the AI reacts to the player. Are we going to have someone play it cool and stick to a strategy, or is the player going to be running frantic and swapping out his whole arsenal? I can't imagine the AI being that strategic if the level is filled with everyone running around chasing a headless chicken named Joel.
  12. Is it? Off of some self.Games post it's confirmed that the AI is "just bog standard?" Sure, I can't truthfully make a solid defense, what with not having played it, but I'm not about to make expectations off of a random "cautionary" post. I haven't also seen/read all 50+ reviews of The Last of Us, but so far all I've taken away is that the enemy AI seems "selective" in targeting Ellie. She can be attacked, but sometimes the AI just ignores her and bum rushes you instead. I also read in the same post "it wasn't hard," but I've also seen videos of players getting their butt handed to them from only two enemies. Not to mention the "Clickers" insta-kill you. So yes, to me it's still a nitpick.
  13. I dunno, dreams are weird [,man]. Last night I dreamt I had a fetish for girls typing on keyboards, and looking deep within myself, I don't believe I'll ever be aroused by the clicking of keyboard buttons. Considering my recent foray in browsing keyboards online, that's where it came from. As for the girls, I'm a heterosexual male and I'm confident in my rather wild assertion that it's what we do.
  14. If I want human levels of intelligence, I'll go to the multiplayer with the human enemies wanting to bash my skull in with a wooden fence post. I read Reddit too, and honestly it sounds like a damn nitpick. As long as the enemies aren't running around in circles and clipping through the walls, I think I'm gonna be able to deal with it.
  15. Yeah, the positions also have to have some influence too. Not executive level influence, but in the creative process. Writers, concept artists, and etc make these characters and breath life into them. Though, realistically, I would say the work environment probably plays a larger role as to whether women join or not. In other industries, you do get quite a bit of "boy's club" firms/studios/agencies. Not to say there are no women working there, but you migth as well be working in the men's locker room.
  16. Uncharted 3, XCOM, and LBP Karting added to PS+ for June. PS+ has paid for itself tenfold by now.

LBP Karting is nice, I'm still waiting for PSASBR.

  17. Haven't watched the video, and honestly it sounds like a waste with the responses. I will say though, and sorry I've forgetten the actual term for it, but technically the more balance a workforce has in males and females, the more accurate and frequent depiction of female characters will become. This isn't to say, "Ladies, get together and make your games!" However, the industry would benefit if more women did enter positions in the industry rather than just being consumers who purchase games solely developed by males with a male mindset. A part of me suspects that a reason why female characters become "sexy" is that there is a perceived notion where if a majority of players will be male, and if a male is playing as female, he might simply find her attractive or even become infatuated with "her." So, lets begin rewarding the player with sexier outfits!
  18. Lately I've seen people mentioning Clem as a "female" character rather than a child one because this year we've been seeing strong female characters. It usually comes down to a "No one can beat Clem" debate, or really more of a statement than any motive ot start a discussion.
  19. Diggin' Tomb Raider, definitely the presentation and Lara strikes a good balance between attractive and triangle boobies.

I was always early. Got too used to having to instantly hit a QTE button rather than waiting on the shrinking circle.

Yeah, I was always early for the same reason, I was trying to anticipate it entering the go zone rather than waiting for it to.

  20. We need more Corgi in here. Why? BECAUSE I SAY IT SO!
  21. I beat Resident Evil: Revelations (PS3) last night, and I've been mulling it over on my experience. I think if you're into Resident Evil and enjoy a good action-horror kind of game, it's fun and worth a nice $30 experience. Full price ($50) if you're going to jump into any online. It has great character design, though the human cast could use work. It really does have a horror element to it, and managed to creep me out outside of jump scares. There were some good boss battles too, especially the final boss. It was challenging, satisfying, and utilized all of the games core mechanics. Now since this is Capcom, you do have a strong "DLC" presence. I'm sure there was a weapon or two I missed, but even so your arsenal is rather small. You do get a variety of weapon parts to adjust damage, and etc. Point is, there have been many times where Capcom urges you to unlock other weapons either from the Resident Evil website or buying DLC. Considering it's "catalog data," I'm not sure how much of it you download and what's on disc.
  22. Remember the infamous "8.5" for Uncharted 3?
  23. Jumping on Metacritic and the game has 9's and 10's up the booty hole. A few 8's and Polygon gave it a 7.5. Still, out of 53 combined reviews, it's an average of 95.
  24. I AM EXCITED FOR MULTIPLAYER, OMG GUYS WHAT IS THIS FEELING, SWEET TOUCH, HYPE!
  25. I really don't belong in this thread, what with not reading the books or watching the series, but even I have heard/seen the reaction to this episode. People losing it, declaring they're finished, and so forth. So I watched the bit in question. The acting got me laughing my ass off, and quite frankly as far as violence and gore go, it was silly. Sure, if I cared about the characters, let alone knew who they were, I'd probably be experiencing feels. That's not the case, and I will continue sitting on the sidelines and eating my bucket of popcorn as a fandom begin to rip asunder.
