  1. Also, games that allow only ONE save file. Have a completed game file but want to start a new game to try out some different things, better not save or say good bye to your save file. I'm looking at you Pokemon and Ghostbusters: The Video Game.
  2. Ikaruga, though really, any Bullet Hell shmup.
  3. That's stupid, there's no way it would warrant any sequels or television programs. SWING YOUR ARMS, FROM SIDE TO SIDE
  4. Hokuto no Ken (Aka, Fist of the North Star) for the Playstation 2.
  5. Would you like to save? >No Are you sure? -While mashing buttons to get off this screen, No is selected by default- Would you like to save? Repeat every single time.
  6. Because nothing ruins your day like the 100 Crack Fist. (in before: YATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA etc.)
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBAP-VdoN48 Final boss battle with Dr. Robotnik with all of the emeralds collected from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Kick ass music as you settle the score with your nemesis, and then you think the game is over... then suddenly DOOMSDAY ZONE and it's on.
  8. Because I love RTS games so much, and people are busy creaming their pants over Final Fantasy intros: Dark Reign Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge Total Annihilation
  9. Muscle March for the Nintendo Wii. I'd play it.
  10. The Adventures of Bayou Billy on the NES. The game that made us men. The game that had an amazing soundtrack, and controller snappingly difficult gameplay.
  11. Officially licensed by Nintendo? Not that I can recall, but when they began adding in the colored variety of Game Boys, I'm sure most gamers classified the Pink and Purple versions as the "Game Girl." Unless you are Prince, then Purple rules.
  12. I fished 79 times!!! At least you are getting skill points for doing it. Try being a max skill level fisher, not getting any skill ups, and fishing with your thumb up thine rear. Oh, Blizzard.
  13. Weeellllllll, ya see.....they're not Final Fantasy games. They're SaGa games, whose hit-or-miss nature has been very well documented. They have their own little "best of" list, and it looks like this: 1. SaGa 3 2. Romancing SaGa 2 3. The Last Remnant (unofficially) but in North America, they still carry the Final Fantasy name. Not to go off-topic, but it's like Super Mario Brothers 2, in Japan it was a far different game than what we got in North America, which we later got as "The Lost Levels." For the North American version of SMB2, we got a revamped version of a game called Doki Doki Panic. tl;dr version: It still has the Final Fantasy name.
  14. Where's Final Fantasy Tactics on this list? Why are the Gameboy final fantasy games not included in this poll! They were fun! Especially Final Fantasy Legend! And don't give me this crap that it was just retitled under the Final Fantasy name for it's North American release! ALSO: Are we going by the Japanese numbering of Final Fantasy games or the North American numbering of games, because that is HUGE. I demand clarity!
  15. 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 9. Minecraft 8. Mass Effect 2 7. Gears of War 6. Street Fighter 4 5. StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2. God of War 1. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm People will not shut up about how amazing it is, just like they do every expansion, and then after a month or so, it will be like all the other expansions were people will be bored and demanding more content or complaining about the existing content. and also, to sum up every single change and post in this thread, I think Heath Ledger's Joker said it best
  16. Coming from someone who did Burning Crusade dailies, everyday, back in the wee days of only being able to 10 a day, back when they were excruciatingly painful... ...that looks about right for a daily quest. Makes you feel like you are earning that gold or whatever profession-related-item.
  17. Team Fortress 2. Yeah, it was fun in the beginning capping points and securing the enemies intelligence. Then came the class updates with added weapons and achievements. Then the hats, then the Mann Co. Store and the trading system. and the hats.
  18. Because we all have giant hands to wield this beast of a controller. At least Microsoft realized it was horrible and fixed it down the road with the more compact model.
  19. To go with Doom, the Berserker pack, because there's nothing quite like looking your enemy in the eye as you gib them. For any other situation, the Bob-omb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDLzWmHMMfY
  20. Defining what is retro and classic to gamers is gradually becoming a difficult issue to agree on, with the current generation of gamers and the coming future generations of gamers. Many will agree that the stuff like the NES will forever be retro, but what about "fairly" recent consoles, handhelds, and such like the Playstation, Nintendo 64, or, as much as I read in other gaming forums, the original Xbox? This thread is to voice your opinion on what you think should be classified as retro or classic and why! Let us define what is retro or what should be retro! I will watch this thread so we can construct a consensus on what TAY posters think is retro, so let your voices be heard (but if you do just name a system with no explanation as to why you think it should be retro, it will be removed)
  21. For the sake of moderation, to keeping this thread related to retro video games: Retro games need to go a bit further back than the DS, GBA, PS2, or even the Gamecube. Most people would agree that retro would fall under NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy/Gameboy Color, Dreamcast, things like the Atari 2600, or arguably the PlayStation 1 (Just to name a few popular systems) and prior systems. If you're going to cite PC, give a bit more detail on the era of games or a specific PC platform (Such as the Amiga or C64). (Contribute here http://board.pressxordie.com/index.php?/topic/374-what-is-retroclassic-to-you/ to voice your opinion on what you think should be retro.) If Battra92 would prefer to keep this as "What video game platform from a previous generation would you..." I can move this to a more appropriate category to include the more recent consoles and handhelds. Also, changed the thread title to be a bit more appropriate.
  22. Fix'd that for you. On the subject of Game Over / The End screens that will always be stuck with you, Ghostbusters on the NES.
  23. Whoa whoa whoa, they had a second peak with the Dreamcast, though a short peak, but a peak nonetheless! One of these days I need to dig my Genesis out of the garage and replay Sonic 3+Knuckles, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Desert Strike.
