Given some of the um... possibilities of the suicide mission I'm surprised you're recommending that.
-
Yeah but it throws off dialogue at places. It's best to do the DLC as if they were part of the game.

I'm using CM7 (aosp) on my LG Optimus V: Really nice. Over and underclocked based on demand. I've been using swipepad + simi folder to get around. With swipepad you set a region around the edge somewhere and it brings up a menu when you move your finger over it for a second: I leave a blank space just incase I activate it. It works within a lot of programs too which is really convenient. The games and tools are my simi folders which when on my desktop they open like iphone folders so this just does that without actually placing the folder (so i get this floating display of apps) The electron beam effect when the screen goes on and off is really nice. The lock screen is great, too. I have mine customized where a down swipe takes me to foursquare places for a quick check in. I use wallpaper rotator to well... rotate the wallpaper every hour.

$4000 a pop, not counting installation (including the cost of materials for mounting and more money to figure out best placement and angle if they didn't do that themselves), and maintenance and wiring and the battery needed and converters, for something that will only last 20 years... Anyways, with just 4 panels he's likely not giving too much back to the power company (iirc it's only a few extra dollars a month) but on average it takes about ten years to make back your money on the local level. Anyways, that's only if you use modest power to begin with. This tech will be great for home use once the cost and size go down while efficiency goes up. As for right now it takes a lot of space, time, and a huge initial investment.

I remember reading somewhere that solar panels actually have a very high cost of maintenance, and an even larger cost of replacement should one actually be damaged. The cost of maintenance and cost of replacement are almost the same thing in this case since they have so few parts. Maintenance is really just cleaning them unless it's damaged and then you'll have to replace either the entire section of panel (IIRC, depending on the tech, the number of PV panels within the panel can vary anywhere from 4-16 for a full size panel.) Depending on how and where it's mounted can also effect the cost. Either way the big problems are the materials needed definitely aren't environmentally friendly yet (and i'm talking your every day panel, not something advanced you read about on giz or engadget or another tech site) and they're not very efficient. Those two aspects are being worked on, and making them more durable goes along with that.

Games You've Beat in 2011

I played the full version of Tools a bit and didn't like it that much. I loved the demo of Crack in Time but never got the chance to play the whole thing. Glad to hear that I was right with just my limited playthough of both (i've played every single other console ratchet I'm pretty sure, tools just felt so meh in comparison to the PS2 titles.) -
...what about for people with DX10 cards? o_0 Or maybe the patch accounts for that?

Hehe. One can't really blame lack of customization on consolification. Not when it comes to shooters. I think the only franchise that ever did it in the first place before the console fps explosion was Battlefield. And as I remember, that wasn't very robust. TimeSplitters? -
Solar isn't a matter of sunlight really. It's not optimal in cloudy conditions but it's still better than in winter when the issue is limited daytime hours. Solar has many other problems to work out before it should (or even can) be used to actually power cities.
-
Solar is not yet viable on any sort of widespread level like wind and hydro. My list is just wind and hydro.

Which is really the point with something like this, right? Also one thing to consider with most tech blog reviews is that they ALWAYS compare whatever is out there to the highest end phone possible when what they're comparing isn't even meant to be compared to those. But yeah, you're right about if you want super high specs or rather if you want good specs but with better gaming controls. That N64 emulator demo combined with my past with Android emulation makes me really want this. N64 and older on your phone with good controls? Oh god yes.

agreed with this.

for engadget anyways. ive read other reviews that really enjoy it because theyre not on apples dick like engadget

There's a video where they specifically mention that they tried to get rid of the need for any sort of fast/twitchy sort of movements and focus on puzzle solving. They gave an example of being able to figure out how to advance, but not being able to execute it and trying to make sure the execution is easy and the thinking is hard for Portal 2.

Common sense is opinion now?

Pssst... You didn't hear it from me, but I've heard they're implementing USB gamepads that work with PCs. Just don't tip Kotaku or else everyone might find out. Didn't occur to me to do that, I can't imagine playing something FPS-ish with a controller when there's a Mouse and Keyboard option. Still don't think it's on the cards. You don't have much of an imagination.

I disagree with this. If I went with Samsung I'd be paying twice as much. There's different price levels to consider, it is not simply an extra $20. Plus, I think it's idiotic to put all of your trust into one company.

Hopefully splitscreen on PC, too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueHPdo3HC_g I can't get over how good this album ending is. The story comes to a peak... then such an incredibly jarring stop. Powerful stuff. -
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Does Mario 64 feel like a Super Mario game? *rolls eyes* The Las Plaguas stuff is great and fits right in with the story. Going back to G/T-Virus wouldn't work based on what they have set up so far. -

Though I'm listening to the version off New Album which is slightly different. So glad New Album ended up not sucking, and now I'm really excited for Attention Please and Heavy Rocks (purple) -
If they do that it sounds like it'll just be Mass Effect: Origins. Anyways, you bring up all of the things I hope they can avoid, but we'll just wait and see.

All I could think after my initial excitement was "wait... what are we going to learn that they didn't tell us in the trailer? Reapers can get to Earth in 2 days? Invasion imminent? Thanks trailer."
