Why buy it early if you can't even play it now? By the time you can get to it the price will probably drop again. I don't think it's a short coming as much as a design decision to go for simplification to appeal to the masses more. Though personally I'm always a fan of "advanced" options for when devs take this route.

Like that wouldn't be fun to see.

Doesn't make it a better game. People didn't like Bioshock for the narrative but how you go about the narrative. The atmosphere of the game.
-
Is it? I've only seen it be a problem on ultra public sites like gamefaqs

Because they actually put in proper multi-core support?
-
Isn't that what TAY points and the rank thing are anyways?

First record you bought.

First vinyl? ...Who Calls So Loud self-titled First CD? I think it was either a WWF soundtrack (theme songs or something?) or Ginuwine- 100% Ginuwine -
Or audiogalaxy

Different opinion? Minus!

OnLive is comparable to Netflix for bandwidth right? If you look at the speed plans available and what the data caps are at each level none of them are ridiculous and would still allow for something like OnLive.

Winamp certainly comes from a time when such a thing wasn't considered. I don't use it personally but back then I thought it was awesome because you could change it around (much like I was really into theming XP).

Ugh, I might have to upgrade soon. I'm slightly below minimum on processor and ram. Video card I match up (4830 w/ 1gb of RAM OC)

The desktop one is customizable. You don't have to use everything

according to one of the devs there's something like a 7 second delay on when regen starts on hard mode and it takes nearly 30 seconds to fill your health. he posted very exact numbers on a forum but i cant remember where i saw the post.

Holy shit 1500w power supply? ...can you get 2 power supplys in SLI?
-
He generalizes the whole game after that point though, especially once Crysis 1 comparisons are brought in. For example: Well yeah? The whole game isn't the MP experience. The same can be said for CoD even although that's always overlooked after the first month of release.

*minuses RPS* Anyways, I'm acting smug or superior? Besides that last post, I'm acting pretty indifferent. Just thought I'd join in on the fun Dean, I know how shipping works, but where is it shipping from? Perhaps there is a legitimate gap created by it. With digital, they just line it up with the box street date. That's pretty easy to figure out. Has Friday always been the industry standard for games/other stuff over there even for games developed in Europe? Tuesday has been the standard here for as long as I can remember (and only recently has there been random friday releases.) With marketing and internally you have to think about the size of these companies and the branches of them. I'm sure there's some EA office in Europe that's handling European marketing separately. For CoD they might have to do things abnormally such as stock it earlier than normal and crap like that (which would explain why those always leak so early.) I think as consumers this is particularly hard to get a grasp on. I'm interested to see if anyone in the industry will respond to RPS bro and what they will have to say about it. I'm definitely curious as to if they have any reason at all, too.

You should clarify that you are not talking about the single player campaign.

I think it's funny that I get minused simply for not sucking the dick of every other user on here. I'm not even saying anything drastic and even pointed out that I'm not against this. Anyways, "day one" means nothing. You can make any day your "day one." What does it matter if you play it 2 days later than someone in a completely different part of the world? I never got that. For all we know the difference in launch dates can come down to any number of reasons: shipping, what the regular launch date is (like for example, stuff in america comes out on tuesdays most of the time, movies, games, whatever), marketing purposes, internal purposes (easier to handle it with 2 days in between or some odd shit), etc. If you're really excited for a game, what's another few days of waiting when you've already waited months or years? The same can be said about getting upset over delays. The game will always be there after it comes out. There's no rush. Btw, the writing of that article wasn't the problem, it was his typical gamer on the internet "we're owed the world!" attitude that got me that I haven't really noticed before.

I played Deus Ex on PS2 and it was fine... it was just nowhere near the PC experience. Still fun though. For this I assume it's actually console-centric enough to make not too big of a difference but I'd still prefer it on PC

The problem is your tagging btw (which is what WMP and iTunes are terrible at... and their rips aren't very good.) That's why I use a program solely for tagging to make sure everything is universally accepted (though I think foobar can do it with the settings I have, I just use a bunch of shortcuts with mp3 tag so it takes like ten seconds total.)
-
It still comes down to patience in my eyes. I have no problem with the slowest shipping, or waiting until games are a cheaper price or anything. I just see no reason to want a game immediately when it comes out. Hell, I know a lot of you have a huge queue of games you still need to play, so this makes this even more moot. I'm not against worldwide releases I just don't see why there needs to be all of this bitching. Though I bet a lot of the bitter taste has to do with the way the RPS guy wrote the article.
-
Oh god. Don't tell me I'm buying Deus Ex for a console.
-
That doesn't look efficient at all. It looks like foobar without doing any work (hell, foobar before 1.0 without any work even) Also @ the flying gerbil Use an external ripper like EAC or CDex (which is basically EAC without all the advanced features and easy to use)
