  1. Titanfall 2 Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but the campaign was excellent. Despite it only being 6 hours I'd have been happy with paying $30 for it (which kind of I did but I don't count $20 of it because it was a gift card I would probably never have used otherwise).
  2. Started Titanfall 2, and I'm super enjoying it so far (the campaign). Also, the environments are gorgeous (though up close the textures leave something to be desired)
  3. Dishonored 2 I really liked it a lot, although the ending was kind of anticlimactic, even with the little epilogue narration by the Outsider. I don't think it helped that during the final encounter it wasn't made very clear what you were supposed to actually do, so that was a little frustrating and probably detracted from the experience. Overall though very good game. The only thing they did that I didn't like was that two of the targets are set up almost like boss fights (granted ones you can stealth), which didn't feel very in keeping with style of the rest of the game. They were well done for what they were, but it still clashed.
  4. I PM'd all the Secret Santa participants their targets, so let me know if you signed up and didn't get one.

  5. Thread titles is pretty self-explanatory. Probably no one will be getting any gifts for a while yet, but it doesn't hurt to put this here early.
  6. Okay, I just PM'd everyone their targets, so let me know if you signed up and didn't get a target. I believe the Steam sale is starting December 22 this year, so that should be when things really kick off, but if you find a good deal you don't have to wait. I would suggest at least waiting until your target has posted in the Wishlist thread though.
  7. Sorry, I didn't elaborate enough on what I meant: they fixed the problems with the ending that people mainly threw a tantrum about (specifically it's abruptness), but you are correct they did not make massive story overhauls to fix the fact that it didn't capitalize on a lot of the stuff they'd hinted at in previous games. Despite that, it is still a good game overall and the ending is no longer so terrible as to ruin the experience. *Edit - to elaborate further: originally the way the story ended was disappointing, and was presented horrendously. Now it is still disappointing (though slightly less than initially) and the presentation has been improved immensely.
  8. Forget about the tantrum about 3, they fixed the problems long ago. *Edit - Having watched the trailer now: oh, so we'll be fighting against Citadel races. That's boring.
  9. Glowforge is such an awesome name. Sounds like something from Star Wars.
  10. Everyone make sure I linked to the correct account for you in that post up there. Rudolph changed his so it broke the link (I've fixed it now), and I want to make sure I didn't get any wrong.
  11. Seems to me they're spending all their time and effort making cool looking trailers rather than developing a game.
  12. I always keep a save on the Wale just before starting the next level for just that reason. Also, I learned that from the pause menu you can check your stats for the current mission specifically, so if you think you may have been seen or something but aren't sure you can check that. That's how I learned that killing hounds doesn't count against clean hands.
  13. Managed to fix the weird stuttering issue. Apparently there's something jacked up with the in-game vsync, but I was able to get smooth performance by disabling vsync in-game, enabling it in my graphics card settings, and then setting the in-game framerate limiter to 60fps (setting it higher brings back the stuttering). I think the problem was that the in-game vsync option was syncing at 59hz, but the framerate limiter would only do 60fps, and it was the mismatch causing the stuttering. The graphics card panel vsync though is syncing to my monitor's 60hz setting so it matches up with the framerate limiter.
  14. Updated the above post with everyone's Steam links. Dan, your Steam profile link on here is out of date. Luckily I am friends with you and was able to get the correct one.
  15. Alright, here is a list of everyone who is participating (in the order they posted): TheMightyEthan deanb Rudolph Hitler (nee Saturnine Tenshi) CrowKnow Thursday Next danielpholt Baconrath Mr. GOH! Mal Eleven We got 10 this year, which is down a little but still quite respectable! I will update this post later tonight with links to everyone's Steam profiles. <- Done. Make sure you get everyone added as a friend on Steam if you don't have them already.
  16. This thread is not for general discussion of the exchange. Each participant who has signed up for SS2016 should post one time in this thread letting their Santa know what kind of games they like, whether they prefer Steam or another service or digital gift, that sort of thing. Do not post again if you think of more; edit your original post. The more detail you give, the more likely you are to receive something you want. That said, your own style is fine--you could just do a short list of a few things you've been eyeing or else you could be as detailed as you want. This is not a replacement for Steam/Origin wishlists--use those as well. This thread is to give a little more background about your wants and why you may want them. My Wishlist post will be right here in the top post to give you an idea of what we're looking for. Including a link to your Steam account and wishlist would be a good idea as well. Here is a template to get you started: Steam ID/Wishlist/Country (in case of regional restrictions) General criteria What are your favorite genres? What are your favorite games? Are you looking for any non-Steam gifts? Will you take games not on your wishlist? Any other information you think relevant? --- Here's mine: Steam ID: TheMightyEthan, USA Origin ID: TheMightyEthan (apparently Origin profiles are only viewable through the Origin client), also USA General criteria: Just something that's either on my list or along those lines, or along the lines of other games I like. I do prefer singleplayer over multiplayer as a pretty consistent rule. I do not like JRPGs (in general, though recently I've started enjoying the Persona games) or sports games. What are your favorite genres? Probably action/adventure games, but I play pretty much everything. What are your favorite games? In no particular order: Shadow of the Colossus, Batman: Arkham games, Dishonored, Mass Effect Series, Dragon Age Series, Halo, Gravity Rush, Red Dead Redemption, Bethesda RPGs, Civilization series, Zelda series, Mirror's Edge, Assassin's Creed Are you looking for any non-Steam gifts? A PSN or Origin gift would also be great. I have a PS3, PS4, and Vita, but if you go that route PS4 would be top pick. I'll add a PSN wishlist later, but for the moment checking out my Darkadia (link below) would give a good idea of what I play and what I already have. Will you take games not on your wishlist? Yeah, if you really think I'll like it then go ahead, just should probably check my Darkadia account to make sure I haven't already played it on another platform. Any other information you think relevant? My wishlist is basically in order, but don't worry about it too much for games within a couple slots of each other.
  17. Grind and challenge aren't the same thing. Challenge is a thing requiring skill to do. Grind is having to do the same thing over and over. My ideal level of challenge is being /just barely/ able to do a thing on my first or second try, so it doesn't feel too easy but I also don't have to keep retrying over and over.
  18. "Steam, I don't want you to show me Singleplayer games. No Multiplayer either."
  19. On that same site as Dean's boardgame motivations survey is one for videogames, here are my results: https://goo.gl/gPz2Dd I'm Action-Oriented, Analytical, Gregarious, and Deeply Immersed. At first I was confused why it said I'm gregarious, because I don't like multiplayer, and then I realized it's because I told it I like working with other players (which I do), I just don't like playing against other players. I think that's why Destiny kept me hooked for so long, there was so much cooperative multiplayer stuff available.
  20. Here's mine: https://goo.gl/wBPdGD, I'm Strategic, Grounded, Gregarious Apparently I like just about everything but immersion (which I don't have a problem with, it's just not super important to me).
  21. Alright, signups are closed (though if I'm being honest I'll probably let in anyone who signs up before I send out targets).
  22. Tom Scott had an interesting video about it that he ended with depressing musings about whether we'll actually use the 100 years that this thing will last for to clean up the site, or if we'll just ignore it now and then in 100 years we'll be scrambling to apply another bandaid to it.
