I want to qualify what I said about the resolution: 720p is fine if it's full RGB. If it's pentile then yeah, it's shit.

The screen is about what I expected too. 720p at that size is shit compared to a cellphone, but really it's still perfectly fine. @Cowboy: I really really doubt that there will be tablet-mode-only games. I imagine the touch will be primarily for menus and stuff, and that while it may be more convenient for some things you'll be able to everything on the TV that you can do on the tablet. Similar to how Vita TV handles things.

Solved it! The problem is Windows Defender real-time protection, so if you go into Windows Defender settings and add the Civ VI folder as an exclusion then it loads just fine.

Yeah, I hadn't thought about it that way. It seems like the controllers that are out are always busted up, too.

Supposedly if you have the stuck-at-the-leader-load-screen issue I'm having you can "fix" it by performing a full restart of your computer every time before you launch the game. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

The October 5 driver is the one I'm on. It's the one I was on Friday when it worked, and the one I was on today when it didn't.

I'm sure I'd love the game if I could get past this screen: Been sitting here almost 10 minutes. It worked fine Friday, loaded in less than a minute, but now it just sticks here. I haven't changed drivers or anything.

Because if the Switch is $500 then I'm not getting it and I'm keeping the Wii U, cause I need something to play Zelda on.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. I quite enjoyed it. It was fun, and not just in the actual "fun to play" sense, but in the theming and everything too. Now I can sell my Wii U as soon as they price the Switch. *Edit - Leaks are suggesting $299 for the basic console and $399 for bundles (although it's not known what's in the bundles) so that's promising.

Up till now Nintendo's been pretty good with BC. The Wii and WiiU both were, and every handheld they've ever released has been. *Edit - Luckily for me there's nothing on the Wii U I feel the need to keep access to.

Considering that n is faster than all but the very fanciest of home internet connections it would be more than sufficient for the Switch.

That one tweet by the Washington Post guy says they're going silent until next year, but the people who leaked the info about the Switch (which all turned out accurate) are saying Nintendo will be giving specs/etc by the end of the month.

I haven't gotten to play it yet but from reviews/previews I read it sounded like the AI turns were faster than previous civs.

I was actually thinking about the disc drive, and how that base station seems weirdly big. What if there's a drive in that for use when it's docked? I doubt it, but with Nintendo you never know.

Oh yeah, there could easily be back compat problems for other reasons, I was just talking about the limitations imposed by the screen situation.
