They're definitely trying to go with the "it's not actually magic, just inconceivably advanced science" angle with Asgard. That doesn't work quite as well if the magic is derived from eastern mysticism.

I think the biggest things are they've upped the light level cap, increased the activities that will drop gear at level cap, made infusing more efficient, and brought back the prison of elders as an end game activity.

I noticed that typo right after posting but didn't fix it cause I wanted to see if anyone else would.

Good choice. Also, I'd been debating about buying the 3 big DLCs for it, but just realized I can just buy the GOTY edition for less than the DLCs cost...

Bungie always means Pacific time. I might give it a peak, but I'm not sure I want back on the treadmill even if it's good.

Hmm, I might actually sign up for HBO Now to watch this. The seasons have historically taken just over 2 months to run, so if I hold off a few days I can use the 1 month free trial and then pay for one month and get the whole season for one month's subscription. -
Yeah, I had to force myself on those games to only go back and redo something if I felt like the game was being unfair (like if the option description didn't adequately communicate what it meant or something). I liked that in LiS, by contrast, the time-rewindy powers made it so you could go back and do something different without feeling like it was cheating.

My only thought would be to make sure you've updated your drivers. Even if you have you might try removing and reinstalling them.

Okay, yeah, replaying Mirror's Edge and it makes it explicit that she knew her dad and sister survived the riots, it was only her mom that died, and that she lived with her dad and sister afterward until she ran away. In the Catalyst comic it says both her parents and her sister were all killed in the riots, so they're definitely incompatible.

If you're scared messing with the thermal paste just get a CPU that comes with a heat sink, then it already has the paste applied and you don't need to worry about it.
-
When I've done it before the paste was already on there (in solid form that melts itself to form a good bond on first activation), I've only had to apply paste when switching out the heat sink.

Well that was a dumb decision that makes their movie title sound stupid.

Valve made a video where they superimposed the VR environment over video of people playing with it to give people a better idea of what it's like to be in VR. It's a pretty neat watch, even though it's basically an ad.

I wonder why it's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" instead of "Star Wars: Rogue One".
-
In another part of the FAQ it said that if two players are in the same vicinity then any changes either of them makes to the planet are shared, so I would assume the same applies to changes previously made.
-
Do those allow actual local multiplayer, or just LAN? Cause Hamachi at least just looks like a regular VPN, which would work for LAN multiplayer but not true local.
-
There's probably a way to do it involving remote-desktop type programs, like Splashtop or something similar. I know that Splashtop has the ability to show what's happening both on the local monitor and the remote session, but I don't know if it will allow inputs from both locations.
-
It does save all that for your machine though, so I think that's good enough. If I go back to a planet I've blasted it will still be blasted.

A reddit user posted a really good breakdown of what we know about what you'll actually be doing in NMS: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4didkh/what_do_you_do_in_no_mans_sky_and_other_questions/ It was enough to elicit a preorder out of me (I can always cancel it if I become less confident). I found this part about how the universe is simulated especially enlightening, especially given our discussion of the procedural generation last month:

Transistor. Amazing game, I think I'm going to dive straight back in to NG+.

@Caveman: I think they'd been saying it's kind of a reboot, that they're not holding themselves to the continuity but that they weren't ruling out that the two might be in the same timeline either. The comic's worth reading if you're interested in the story. @Thursday: I thought of that, and I guess it's still possible, but the way it was presented definitely made it seem like a "they died in front of my eyes" kind of thing. Also IIRC (which I may not be) the back story from ME1 doesn't really fit with Faith having thought her sister was dead for most of her life.
