  1. I guess if you wanted it to end quickly you could just intentionally lose really fast.
  2. Generally speaking non-white people in the US are disadvantaged compared to white people. That does not, however, apply universally to every individual who falls into those categories. It is good to acknowledge the systemic problems in our society and try to do what you can to help the situation, but you should also recognize that individuals are individuals and not make assumptions about their specific experiences based on generalities.
  3. I'm guessing that was the setup for Destiny 2, not this expansion. They hadn't been planning to even have an expansion this year until recently.
  4. Firewatch. I'll second everything FLD said, except for the part where he really loved it. I liked it fine, but it wasn't amazing. @FLD:
  5. There's a campaign, which essentially amounts to an extended tutorial, but since it took me 14 hours to finish I decided to call that "beating" the game. It doesn't actually end though, and I can keep playing indefinitely.
  6. Yeah, I've thought before about how our generations (probably grand-) children will be just blown away by how we used to drive cars ourselves, because it will seem so ludicrously dangerous. My mom said she remembers when she was a kid a few of her friends still had party line telephones (one phone line shared between multiple houses), which is super weird to me, and probably exactly how my kids will feel about the fact that I remember when each household had just one phone line shared for everyone who lived there. Sometimes two if you were fancy and had a teenager or didn't want to be constantly kicked off the internet.
  7. You haven't heard Rubio and Cruz? They're the ones who are kind of considered to be vying with Trump most effectively.
  8. Yeah, I agree that's the right outcome, it's just the way the laws are written now it wasn't obviously how they would be applied. For instance, in Kansas it's illegal to "operate" a motor vehicle while your blood alcohol level is over 0.08%, and without something specifically addressing it I could see whoever is directing the car to be considered to be "operating" it, even though they're not really driving it in the traditional sense. Thankfully this seems to be one area where the law is actually doing fairly well at keeping up with the technology.
  9. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the computers that run Google's self-driving cars will be considered the "driver" for federal vehicle regulations, not any of the occupants. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-alphabet-autos-selfdriving-exclusive-idUSKCN0VJ00H?utm_source=twitter Current safety rules still require things like "steering wheels" and "brake pedals", so this doesn't give the go-ahead to Google's proposed cars with no possibility for human input, but it's a step in that direction. Personally I feel like the utility of cars without any method of direct control by humans is going to be limited for quite some time anyway, and the real place to watch are cars that can be driven by a human or a computer. There are also state regulations to consider, although it wouldn't surprise me if states end up following the federal lead with respect to this (though a few states have explicitly passed laws requiring that a human be ready and able to assume control at any moment). If this approach does become the standard (which I think it should) the thought that comes to mind first for me given my profession is that if the computer is the driver then that means you can get drunk, get in your self driving car, tell it to take you home, and you aren't DUI because the computer is driving, not you.
  10. Gun to my head? Kasich, or maybe Christie before he withdrew, just because they're the least crazy.
  11. Looks interesting, I'll have to keep an eye on it. The problem with moving to new sites is that I have all this old data on other sites already...
  12. Ooh, thanks for reminding me, now I too have purchased Firewatch for the Playstation 4 Home Entertainment System Console.
  13. Yeah, I looked up the answers to maybe 5 puzzles, and hints to maybe 2 more.
  14. Yeah, his mom was an American citizen, and by statute anyone with at least one citizen parent is a US citizen, provided that parent has been to the US at least once in their life. The Constitution requires that in order to be president you must be a "natural born citizen", and it's never been decided whether that includes someone like Cruz who has citizenship from birth under a statute rather than under the Constitution itself (which grants citizenship to anyone born in the US).
  15. 970 vs 980 is the chipset, and is independent of the amount of RAM the card has.
  16. Replaced the power supply and no smell, so either that was the problem or it's a really weird coincidence.
  17. Are you saying that you don't believe the Chinese calendar was designed millennia ago specifically to capitalize on this moment? Heretic!
  18. Probably timed specifically to capitalize on people who want more after the Witness.
  19. I have a Amazon branded Visa card that gets me rewards points I can spend at Amazon.
  20. Amazon Prime's 20% off new games sure is making me a lot more prone to impulse buys. Though with some rewards points I had this one ended up only being $3.69 out of pocket.
