  1. Re lavabending: Not only Avatars have been seen lavabending. Sozin did it in The Avatar and the Firelord Part 2. My understanding was that lava is earth and fire put together, so both earthbenders and firebenders can bend it. It might take an especially powerful firebender, but it's doable.
  2. I liked it except for the ridiculous subplot about the nanotech and whatever it was doing.
  3. Yeah, I don't see the necessity of manual crouch, but it also doesn't bother me. Toggling doesn't bother me either, but I agree that if you have to hold it down that's annoying.
  4. Why would anyone buy a GCN controller? The only reason I see to get the adapter is for people like me who already have 4 GCN controllers and 0 Pro Controllers and don't want to spend $200 to get 4 Pro Controllers. If you're buying a new controller anyway you should buy the modern one.
  5. That's really impressive, I was worried latency was going to be a huge problem. As long as you can stream Netflix your bandwidth should be good enough, the problem would be the time it takes for your control signal to get from your console to the server and then the response in the game to get back to your display.
  6. The "THE END IS NIGH" kind of stuff makes sense to me as something that would be written at the beginning of the decline but while society was still more or less functioning. Like, at the point where most people are still trying to go about business, but the irreversible slide has begun. *Edit* - Though that only works with stuff like a disease or whatever where it's somewhat gradual, not like a nuclear war.
  7. I thought that was an Xbone on top and was like "I thought I was the only one crazy enough to have one of those!"
  8. Color's a little jacked up if you zoom in because the sun is on the wrong side of the house to light the rooms well for the camera, and with the flash it just looked weird.
  9. It showed what appeared to be non-Air Nomad airbenders.
  10. My feelings are who cares if it doesn't do any one thing especially better than any other game, it still works well as a whole. That's what matters to me. But yeah, if they want to improve the mechanics as well, then more power to them.
  11. It's kind of ridiculous, but the game I'm most excited for this year is the Master Chief Collection.

I didn't mind the other boss so much. Certainly not as much as I minded everything involving the Flood in Halo 3. Or the Library in 1. Ugh...

Oh see I thought the flood was the worst in Halo 2. There aren't really any weapons in that game that are very effective against them.

And as far as the other boss goes, it's not so much the fight itself as the idea of a boss didn't really fit in Halo.

  12. Good rundown of the collection on Eurogamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-12-halo-the-master-chief-collection-is-pure-fan-service An especially neat bit about the multiplayer:
  13. $CAN53 is $US48. All of those games are on US Amazon for $60.

Yeah, idk, that's weird. If I were going to go out to lunch or something with a woman I would tell my wife about it ahead of time just so it didn't seem like I was trying to keep it a secret, but I wouldn't like ask permission or think she'd be uncomfortable with it.
  15. The advantage of dedicated servers is your performance is not determined by somebody else's internet connection, and you don't end up with things like host migrations.
  16. Mostly it's just a marketing buzzword. Some things "the cloud" could actually do that would be useful though would be stuff like running AI/physics in online games so that the local machine doesn't have to spend as many resources on it. But really that just means you have that stuff running on a server, which isn't earth-shattering or even a new idea.
  17. Halo 3's Forge Mode is surviving the transition. Ordinarily wouldn't be news, but there was some question about it after the reveal that they didn't immediately clear up. Bigger news is that they're adding Saved Films to Halo 2. No word on whether it will be in every gametype like Halo 3 or just custom games like Halo 4 (where it didn't work in Campaign or regular multiplayer).
  18. 26 minutes of PS4 roaming about.
  19. That was kinda my thought...
  20. I actually didn't watch it (except for the Zelda part after the fact), but I thought I saw people talking about 3DS games. If not, I'll change that to red.
  21. They can say that all they want, but I won't believe it until I start hearing it from non-Ubi people who have actually played the game. Fuck.
  22. In principle I'd agree that I wouldn't like closed off areas like Skyward Sword, but in that game specifically I thought it worked well.
  23. Nintendo Blah blah, Wii U's still good, blah blah Way more focus on 3DS than I care about Probably no Zelda anything - Woohoo! I was wrong! And it's got the best Zelda art style yet! Smash Bros Now all I need is a true 3D Mario and I'll be happy with my Wii U purchase.
  24. I love the art style of the new Zelda. It's like midway between Wind Waker and Skyward Sword.
