  1. After quiting all the way out of the game and then going back in a few times, eventually it loaded correctly and I was able to progress. The credits are playing as I write this.
  2. Well, I ran into a game-breaking glitch. Here's what happens in my game: Here's what's supposed to happen (start at 2:11): I'm quite frustrated.
  3. Well that's lame, and makes me less likely to purchase Humble Bundles if I know that any games I already have will just evaporate.
  4. The first kids came at like 5:15, but it didn't really pick up until about 5:45.
  5. Sadly, almost none of the kids recognized my wife's costume. The closest any got was one of them said "You're Aang! And you're that girl who came with Aang!" and a few others who recognized her as a character from the show but couldn't come up with a name.
  6. Yeah, that's why I said "supposedly."
  7. Yay! Although I already got it with the glitch...
  8. I believe so. You use your fleets to send ships around to other ports to trade goods and make more money, etc. The social aspect expands it, but from what I understand there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do the underlying trade empire management offline. I could be wrong though, I'm waiting for the PS4 version so I haven't actually played it myself.
  9. It's a little bit more than that, because it doesn't just disable the social aspects of the fleet system, it disables the system altogether.
  10. It disables the fleet management system in the singleplayer campaign. That system though is a social one, where if you discover a ship or treasure or whatever it shows up for all your friends, and various other online functions. So while the content it locks out is in the singleplayer campaign, it also has an online component to it.
  11. On Tuesday Assassin's Creed 4 released, containing an online pass which restricted access to some arguably single-player content. Today, two days later, they announce they are removing online pass from AC4 altogether and will not have it at all in any of their future games. It's cool that they're removing it, but two days? That's a flip so fast I think it gave me whiplash. Now, because the game disc code still requires an online pass code to activate that functionality, what they have really done is simply made the cost of an online pass $0. So you pop the game in, go to the console's store, and download the code free of charge. Still requires an internet connection though, obviously, so they're not 100% getting rid of the problem, but it's still a pretty nice gesture.
  12. Those are pretty intense costumes. Disappointed there's no Zoidberg though.
  13. I had the exact same problem.
  14. If you read the article, supposedly it sounds it in such a way that it sets up vortices inside that prevent the carbonation from leaving solution.
  15. A device that supposedly chills things as quickly as microwaves warm them. Granted it's all based on the company's own claims about the device, but it's very cool if true. *Edit* - Wait, why are they talking about the demand in Europe? I thought you guys all drank your beers and sodas at room temperature like barbarians.
  16. Joystiq just said Which to me just reads the same as the FAQ, which is "you can't put games or saves on external storage." Not that you can't use memory sticks at all.
  17. Who still has a TV without HDMI (and can also afford a PS4)? Hence the whole "who is still playing audio CDs in this day n age". I'd imagine if you're someone that still does, you're going to use your hi-fi and not your recently purchased video games console and shiny HDTV to so. Most people I know don't have a hi-fi system separate from their surround sound system, so the only way to play audio CDs over the good sound system is with some kind of device connected to the same receiver the TV uses (like a game console). Anyway, like I said I don't think the lack of CD or mp3 playback is actually a problem, it just seems weird. Lack of analog outputs does not seem weird.
  18. I'm a little confused about this kind of thing, because the same FAQ says that you can install the day-one update from a flash drive, so obviously it has some kind of support for them. I just took the "no external storage" thing to mean you couldn't put your games on it, not that you couldn't use it at all.
  19. Then your PS4 can play your music no problem! Who still has a TV without HDMI (and can also afford a PS4)?
  20. The 360 had sub-720 resolutions on a lot of games. This is the same thing. Yeah, for instance Modern Warfare 3 ran at 600p on both PS3 and 360. The console actually output video at whatever resolution you had it set to, but if that was higher than 1024x600 then it was getting upsampled before being pushed out. The same thing here: both consoles will send a 1080p signal out over the wire, but the original rendering occurred at these lower resolutions.
  21. *Edit* - To be fair, he didn't say that one was caused by the other, just implied that the two are correlated.
  22. I can see it being a bigger deal if you play a lot of sports or racing games. Those are the kinds of things that I do like to have my own music with.
  23. Infinity Ward confirms CoD: Ghosts is running at 720p on Xbone, 1080p on PS4, 60 fps on both. We already know BF4 is 720p on Xbone, 900p on PS4, 60 fps on both. PS4 IS WINNING!
  24. My reaction to that is the same as my reaction to it not playing audio CDs: weird, but not really a problem.
