  1. Yes, for whatever reason soda is sold in 2-liter bottles in the US. Occasionally you'll see a 1-liter bottle too, but anything smaller than that tends to be measured in fluid ounces, and fountain drinks are always measured in ounces in my experience, it's just the larger bottles that use liters for some reason.
  2. I'm guessing it's the astigmatism, because while stuff wasn't popping out of the screen the whole time it was definitely 3D. @Wally: Yeah, that was one of the two shots I was referring to. It didn't literally hurt me, but it definitely confused my eyes. The other being at the end when the Avengers are all standing in a group and we're looking up at them and the perspective is strange, especially on Tony who looks like a cardboard cutout in that one shot.
  3. Jesus christ, are those people from Mexico having a party or something? How are they going to go through all those 2-liters in a week?
  4. Miranda at least had a good reason for her physical body being crazy sexy. As far as dressing like that, that's another matter.
  5. It's currently $25 on GMG, plus the 20% off voucher makes it $20, plus I had a $15 credit from buying Bioshock Infinite so it was only $5 out of pocket.
  6. Yeah, my wife and I actually just watched the 3D bluray of The Avengers tonight, and I thought the 3D was great for the most part. There were 1 or 2 shots that looked weird, but that's it.
  7. You can't make it take up the whole screen when you're at less than full health, but it still can be quite big.
  8. ? You mean you didn't like it because it doesn't have stuff constantly popping out of the screen, or what?
  9. Did you see it in 3D and if so how's the quality? I know it's a post-production conversion to 3D rather than being filmed that way, which is why I wonder. *Edit* - Though apparently The Avengers was also converted in post-production and I don't remember noticing any problems with the 3D in that movie, so I'd assume this is similar.
  10. What they've said about the Wii U is that they're selling the basic at a very slight loss, but as long as you buy one game for it they've made a profit. I believe that. The Deluxe is selling at a profit on each unit. And I don't think anyone's saying Nintendo is going to go out of business in the next two or three years, just that the weak performance of the 3DS and Wii U might cause them problems in trying to go into the next cycle.
  11. Yeah, the Wii was an accident that saved the company, but one console does not a trend make.
  12. That controller is fucking fantastic and if Microsoft doesn't have something like it for the Xbox Infinity I will punch them right in their stupid faces. Through the internet. And Glass doesn't count.
  13. Yeah, that's kind of what I figure. I'll probably get it in the Steam Summer Sale or with a GMG voucher or something.
  14. Wii 2 would have been perfectly acceptable, but I think Wii HD would have created similar confusion to what we're seeing now. *Edit* - I also think there's a difference between public opinion being "this is a bad name because it sounds stupid", which is obviously just a taste thing, and "this is a bad name because it has created and is going to continue to create consumer confusion", which is somewhat more grounded in objective reality. *Edit 2* - Also, the fact that the console itself looks so similar to the Wii is not helping either. It's more akin to the difference between the 360 and the 360 S than the difference between the Xbox and 360.
  15. Tomb Raider, among other things, is 50% off on Origin right now. I'm so tempted, but I'm really trying to stick to the only-buy-it-if-you-want-to-play-it-right-now rule, and I still have Bioshock Infinite, Assassin's Creed 3: Tyranny of King Washington, and Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall to get through, and that's only stuff I've got in like the last week.
  16. The follow-up will be the Xbox Infinity Squared, and after that will be the Xbox Infinity-Squared-Times-A-Million.
  17. You'd think they would have gone "hey, maybe we should work on our branding" after they announced the thing and the fucking games press wasn't sure if it was a new console or not.
  18. Minerva's Den. I'm definitely in the "it's better than the main Bioshock 2 campaign" camp.
  19. I feel like I just played a game with a great female lead, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. I'll come back if I think of it.
  20. I don't know what this is, but I'm scared.
  21. Nintendo really botched this launch. I understand wanting to get out ahead of MS and Sony, but that strategy only works if you actually have games.
  22. Pretty sure that Ethan's point is that the prices they advertise on their site will stay the same so they won't be as pressured to reduce prices as in the UK where a VAT increases means that you have to increase the sticker price or eat the VAT yourself. Yeah, that. Also dean, you're right that the state governments are governments, but they're sovereign from the federal government. If you say "the US government" it refers to the federal government, because that's the government of the US. Each state has its own, independent government. You are correct that representatives are elected state by state, with each state getting Representatives in the House of Representatives based on the population of that state, and each state getting two Senators regardless of population.
