I think MS is much more focused on the NA market, where their lead over Sony this gen is much more pronounced.

When it's rainy so I'm wearing my wide-brimmed hat and I pass women I tip it ever so slightly and say "Ma'am" because I like to pretend I'm in a Western. Sparked by Thursday's sir/maam comment.

So there's the stereotypes that the British are excessively polite, and Americans are rude. Well on Wednesday I was at the local Rotary meeting (because I've become an old person well before my time) and the speaker was a British foreign exchange teacher. She said that one of the things that surprised her coming over here was how polite the students are, much more so than her students back in England. I thought that was interesting.

Sorry if I came across snarky, didn't mean to. And yeah, I don't know why I read your first post as though you were saying that was some special feature of your phone. I blame it on not having had my morning caffeine yet at that point.
-
Yeah, I can too. I meant in order to use its phone functionality it requires a connection, because obviously.

When did the world become a cyberpunk setting?
-
Yeah, you can now dance on the table and I won't object. Also, what the fuck is he talking about with "Every device now is 'always on.' That's the world we live in.""? Not a single device I own requires a connection to function except my phone and my modem. There's a difference between making a device which supports constant internet connectivity and making a device which requires it in order to do anything. Things like cable boxes have to be connected because by their nature they are accessing remote content, but making an always-online requirement for anything accessing local content is just asinine. As far as "electricity goes out too", I've lived in this house for 2 years and I think the electricity has gone out twice in all that time, whereas my internet connection fucks up at least a couple times a month (for a while last year it was broken all morning every Saturday, but that hasn't happened in a while).

It's still just rumors. Wake me when there's something official.

What are you going to use any of them for?
-
I see your point, but for me at least the issue is with the implementation. It shows a willingness to fuck up the game mechanics for DLC. If this thing did something more sensical, like reducing pollution from cars in its vicinity, then I wouldn't have a problem with it, but the fact that it magically just increases happiness everywhere is... sigh. The advertising aspect doesn't bother me by itself, only as it relates to the other aspects of it that bother me. I'm fine with product placement that makes sense (this makes sense, as does stuff like vending machines in a shooter that are real soda brands, billboards in a racing game that have real ads on them, etc).

Amazon gives sellers the option to send the thing to them, and they'll hold it in the warehouse until someone buys it. That may be why it's "like new" but coming from the warehouse, it still could actually be used.

At first I didn't like daylight missions, but they were designed so you could still be stealthy so after a time I came to like them fine.

"There are 700 ways to get into that building."

I bought one fully intending it to be my Nintendo Machine, so as long as I get a 3D Zelda (beyond the WW remake), a 3D Mario, and a Smash Bros I'll be content, if maybe a little disappointed. Also, part of the reason is that the graphics chip on my Wii was fucked up and put matrix code over everything, and I wanted to be able to play Wii games without that.
-
I doubt it's that it's underpowered. That would be a concern with porting PS4/720 games to it, but not with porting PS360 games. I'm guessing it's either the small install base, it being difficult to work with Ninty, or some of each.

Bioshock 1 is INFINITELY better with the mouse acceleration disabled. The last time I tried to play it was 3 years ago, and apparently at that time I didn't know enough about PC gaming to diagnose mouse acceleration as the problem. *Edit* - First sentence pun about Bioshock Infinite was entirely unintentional.
-
I agree. Though Majora's Mask is pretty terrible.
-
Actually at the time I didn't have a next-gen console. Didn't get a 360 until a year later. Maybe it's as simple as the first level being way better like you said and that coloring my experience throughout the rest of the game.
-
Korra/Bolin would have been SO MUCH better than Korra/Mako. wtf were the writers thinking?
-
Idk, maybe I'm crazy because the Metacritic ratings of the last-gen one are somewhat higher than of the current-gen one, but I just remember playing the one on Xbox and not thinking it was very good, and then playing the one on 360 and really liking it a lot. I have since played the 360 one more than once, but haven't played the original Xbox one since launch so I don't remember it very clearly.
-
It's actually two different games, the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube/Wii version bears only the most superficial resemblance to the 360/PS3/PC version. Almost all the levels are different, the plot is different, the mechanics are different, everything. And it's certainly not universally considered bad. I'd even be skeptical that it's generally considered bad. It is generally considered not-as-good-as-Chaos-Theory, but that's not the same thing as bad.

I actually found a different fix that doesn't get reset every time you launch the game: Fixed it for both the controller and the mouse. Although I just did it in the User.ini in the AppData folder, it still seems to carry over between sessions.
-
I figured out what it is about the controls in Bioshock 1 that made it feel so bad to me: there's way too much look acceleration. With a controller if I turn the look sensitivity up high enough to where I can make small adjustments at the right speed then after a half-second of holding the stick it's going way too fast, and with a mouse acceleration is just altogether wrong to start with. Trying to fix it now.

Goddamnit, now I want to play this game just so I can read all these damn spoiler tags. The occasional un-spoilered comments have me intrigued.
